You've got it, Kelvin- the studs are heavily corroded at the break and the other holes are out of round, indicating plenty of oportunity for someone to notice something before it happened. Jon, no sign of a vehicle or any debris... Or I'd have painted them a C&B on the windscreen

Getting an old laptop with a serial port is the way to go, but not as easy to set up as the plug and play foxwell I have a tinyADS interface for pre obd2 cars and run win7 on an old HP elitebook and it works extremely well for early and later model

Would also consider E36 Touring, but prefer the older models

It does indeed look like it was ordered in as a stripped out, low spec version intended to be a race car for a South Island customer. Very weird, and pretty cool story. It is the first NZ manual car built, if you exclude the "pre-pro" that was brought in later on. Total number I can see is 15 (including the pre-pro) NZ new manuals wonder how many are still on the road? Will have a look at the database when I get chance.

I would recommend the Foxwell NT530 scanner loaded with BMW software. Approx NZ$300. Its what I have for the ODB1/ADS work I do and I checked it this morning to ensure that it covers your car. https://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale/nt520-pro-scanner-with-bmw-software-installed.html

Something freaky is going on, another of the 13 NZ new manuals up for sale - https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2538196754.htm?rsqid=e2d28c7a98a04166b565690687204761-003

What a load of dribble. You asked the questions but didn't want the answers. And it's "Bully RS3 drivers over the Remutaka Hill". Look it up. Understeer. We stopped and chatted afterwards. But whatever.

And that is why we have a cert system... Looking at the nuts still chilling in the holes for the spacers, i'd say there wasn't sufficient thread engagement to the hub. Although, i am also curious about the two rusty studs that still appear to be attached. Long since broken off, and relying on the other 4 studs?

Found this beauty in the roadside paddock. Bet that woke them up when it exited stage left...

Bit of progress. Front strut brace. + 3.3459521 KW Subframe bushes replaced with solid rubber units. This has made such a massive difference. 2 of the old bushes were starting to crack but still had fluid in them. The other 2 had ruptured. Pics of one of the ruptured ones:

https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2536727621 This has slightly piqued my interest (as a second round town vehicle). Decent engine, practical, well specced, good fuel economy, space for dog in boot. The obvious flaws in the driving experience don't matter so much for round town driving, would want to check out the hail damage (pre-photos if possible). Thoughts?
