Seems like it's priced accordingly if you compare it to the E39 M5 up on tm for 40k. But the 40k price tag on the M5 is a.k.a my wife wants me to sell it asking price... ?

Ancient filthy diesels are the thing that winds me up. The 90's trucks are disgusting

And who do you suppose should be the arbitrator of what 20yo car is worthy? I for one consider the Century an interesting and somewhat desirable future classic.

Hi guys, Sadly I have to sell my E36IS MS, I was planning on keeping it, unfortunately I have too much on my plate and need to finish other cool projects, like my kitchen and bathroom, and my E30... anyway 1998 E36 318IS Motorsport 218kms Manual Wof and reg till May 2021 Hellrot red $7500ono Its not immaculate by any means I will admit that, however given the rarity and it having goof bones it will tidy up well, i unfortunately just do not have the time at the moment Any questions please just message Located Dunedin

Its the age old thing of just because thats what you spent on it, doesnt mean its worth that much. Its a very nice car, and awesome in manual, but not 30k awesome. I'd also want proof the engine and box were "brand new" not second hand as that changes things.

Man that sucks. What I was afraid of with mine, but turned out not too bad* (Except oil leaks - everywhere). The other problem is you can't really bail out easy. Once you take cars like this off a dealer, you often take a massive hit on resale. *maybe it was bad - I took a 70%+ hit and was just glad to get out.

@Herbmiester is Draggy a phone app that gives you performance figures? Could putting this on my phone be like +10hp for my mighty M40B16?

There's a reason these cars end up at pokey little car yards. I reckon your wife will be over Audi very shortly. Words are useless; just get her a few test drives of what *she'd* like.

@M3AN No, just a little pokey car yard in Penrose... Haha, trying to talk her into an E92 / E82 / F22 now - she loves the Audi though for some reason ?

Is from an actual Audi dealer? If so, leave it with them and have them give you another comparable car. Don't give the other car back until they've fixed everything to your satisfaction. At the very least they need to minimise your inconvenience. I'm now guessing your next car won't be an Audi?

Not forgetting the venturi effect combo with the placement of resonators and cross section...get more of a bmw v8 tone rather than a Ls

That's more akin to their condition rather than the tech, no testing so few care. Ever increasing numbers of vehicles on the road is the real issue to me and less so the pieces of sh*t on it.

they all drive well.. until they dont gut feeling doesnt mean too much these days haha. the lower kms one might still need all the same work as the higher kms one so it depends on your budget for cost of car + potential fixes. If you have to consider selling it in a couple years the higher mileage one might be hard to sell on but it might depreciate LESS because its already cheap as chips whereas the more expensive one might fall in value too. lots of things to consider.

I sometimes think purist are a bit OTT. Porsche Air Cooled enthusiasts are a great example as are manual drivers who dismiss modern DCT and auto boxes and of course the N/A engine guy's who shun all forms of forced induction. I guess this will rankle a few "purists" but it will be a very quick car with this swap so while I would have preferred a BMW engine in there this still works.

You can get them for a few bucks on Amazon but I got them locally for $17.50 including some fancy valve caps, ordered on Sunday evening, arrived this morning. Can't complain about the quality either. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/exterior/listing/2852413512

The 10j would sell reasonably quick i would think, i think all LM barrels are the same so someone would grab it as a spare no doubt. Buying 2nd hand wheels are a risk as who knows what they have been through so by your logic, new reps are better than 2nd genuine as they will be straight $200 was the price I got to have it repaired

Missing the M3, can't wait to get it back on the road again.

And no one seems to mind if you leave your car in the middle of the road at Mangaweka

The HPC coating is great, durable, and looks ok once installed, but it was a drama to get them done. Oil kept leaking out of them in the oven and took many goes for HP to get the oil burnt off. The factory paint hides all the casting defects, which the HPC coating does not. If I was to do it again, I would get them stripped, then spend a few hours sanding / polishing out the casting marks and corrosion as much as possible before getting them coated. Reality is 90% of them are hidden under covers anyway.
