2 pointsGood stuff Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against 4WD's and off-roading. I have watched a lot of Aussi 4WD videos and love the way those guys struggle their vehicles over some seriously ugly tracks. In fact, just about every video shows them on rutted out hills or deep muddy swamp tracks. I've been to Cape York on a bike and seen the where the 4WD's drop into and clamber out of the river crossings, but it is not something that really appeals to me... too much like hard work. There is a feeling of freedom about trail and adventure riding on a bike that just can't be captured in a car or truck. Everything is sharper focus and you have to fully concentrate when off-road, as a moments loss of concentration can result in a face full of dirt !!! I graduated from hare scramble and enduro riding to adventure riding to adventure touring. I met a whole lot of great people and visited a whole lot of wonderful places that I would never seen had it not been for motorcycling. I've sold my bike as it takes a lot longer to heal as you get older, and I think you have to know when to quit. And I have car to play with now Cheers...

2 pointsIt was the first Laguna Seca blue car in New Zealand ordered (I was apparently the only person that ordered one in that shade lol) afterwards three more came in, one manual and one smg and one convertible if I recall correctly. FYI this had a brand new diff replaced by BMW NZ when I had it as back then no one had heard of the infamous diff groan. otherwise it was a perfect car! I believe the second owner owned it for a long time and lived in Hamilton??? I’d love to buy it back but wife would divorce me for sure if I did 🤣🤣🤣 Good luck👍 FYI the NSX is slow on the track. I’ve tracked against a few and they have always been slower than the E46 M3 by quite a margin. Don’t believe best motoring videos you watch.

2 pointsWow, great to meet the original owner - I'm the current owner. Thank you for spec'ing the car perfectly from the factory! Already regretting listing and wonder if I should withdraw. But I do really want an NSX...

2 pointsMy original M3 that I bought back in 2001. I’ve wondered where this was. Good to see it’s still alive and well.

1 pointHi there. Christchurch based, West Melton. First post, member for some time when I had a 2007 335 Coupe but never posted and moved it on as I'm a liitle less able to climb in and out of them as I used when "I wore a younger man's clothes"!! Moving on a few years and I'm back where I belong. 2001 740i in Titan Silver with black leather. Had a 2001 in Anthracite with grey Nappa leather back in Aus but sold it when we retired over here just over 7 years ago. Regretted the sale ever since. Fast forward to today when I picked this up. Came down from the North Island. One owner, 88k on the clock and M pars factory supplied. All original paperwork with vehicle from Shelley BMW in Wellington, $160k new!! Absolutely beautiful with only a few niggly things to fix. Cheers Archie

1 pointGot the engine and transmission positioned in the car pretty accurately and have calculated the various driveline angles ... all looks pretty good considering the constraints being worked with. Back into the business end and have almost got the engine mounted to the subframe so I can remove it all together and start working on mounts. Looks like I might be out of gas for the welder unfortunately !!

1 pointWhat makes you think that? The crappy looking single exhaust tip makes me think you're right though Edit: Just re-read the listing, "Both back tyres need replacing", OK that was probably it haha.

1 pointBeautiful Car - don't let it go for less than what you really want! There are not many about in NZ that achieve the near-unicorn status of this one. I wouldn't be surprised if the "right" buyer would pay circa $50k for this example. Good luck with the sale, and please let us know how you get on. Cheers Paul

1 pointThat will become clear when it's hit. Not far away though. Will be interesting to see what it goes for, although offers are coming thick and fast (including a possible NSX swap!), so it may end up withdrawn before then.

1 point@zero not any hard evidence necessarily but there is anecdotal evidence of people still getting cracking after epoxy foam and underside plates. The issue is that it does not solve the problem and just redirects the load path to the wheel arches where there are spot welds that start to pop and separate the RACP from the chassis. The biggest dissuader for me is that the epoxy foam makes it incredibly difficult to weld any cracks or solve the issue properly because it catches fire when welding and creates toxic fumes. However, it's hard to recommend a full top mount kit on a non-m when the cost of the kit + installation could eclipse the value of the car. CMP has a chassis rail plate which works quite well as a midrange option (https://cmpautoengineering.com/collections/all/products/e46-subframe-racp-to-chassis-rail-plates) in addition to underside plates.

1 pointWelcome back. Nice looking car. If you are into going for Sunday cruises with other BMW's keep an eye on the Christchurch group in the meetings forum. There is a regular monthly run. Check out the next one here.

1 pointGave the car a full detail, been holding off on this for a while until I had some panel and paint done and redid the seats. Got a few nice snaps as well - used a polarizer for the reflections which worked great. Wash with Carpro Reset Wheel clean with Meguiars wheel cleaner Polyshave (clay block) Rinse and dry Hand polish with Menzerna 2400 Solution finish trim restorer and Fireball tire wax Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax Carpro Elixer to finish

1 pointDone the recall for the breather heater thing. Was a nightmare. Thanks Winger and good riddance. Not had a call up for the Airbag. If I do I am going to some other dealership to get it done.

1 pointNew high score achieved. Had fun with a sport bike on a closed road in the wee hours

1 pointI want a 6-spd Le Mans Blue LCI with updated iDrive, hydraulic steering and sprinklings of BMW Performance tat, not too much to ask is it?
-
1 pointAre you Nana driving? Ours has seen the track, mile sprints and the the Remutaka hill every other day though. No toodling through Mission bay + 100% it was a Tokyo traffic crawler for the first 30K.

1 pointWater pumps are only meant to be good for 100-120. Valvetronic motor is the same. And all the hoses should be changed as the plastics go brittle. Lots of plastic. I would change the gearbox fluid and filter if you have not already.
