5 pointsLast week was very exciting, the wheels were painted in a color matched silver and coated in 2K clear. left to dry / cure for just over 48 hours before gentle re-assembly. A local tire shop fitted the Pilot Sport 4s back on with no issues or marring at all. I think they look amazing, the whole car is in need of a good wash before I take some decent pics. and thanks to @hqstu for the lending of the M5 wheels while i worked on these. Clear going on Looking good with 2 coats of base and clear applied Thanks to some awesome maching of barrels and the edge of the faces reassembly went very smooth bolts in and torqued down freshly remounted, car needs a decent wash then more pics will be posted. packed up and ready to go get the tires fitted to the refreshed wheels ( they are in the boot and backseat)

3 pointsMight have a motor in this week LSD ready to go in. Had it in last night but had a minute crack on rear housing so had to swap it over, went for a 3.25 ratio. Was going for a 3.46 but car will be more of a road car now E30 325 axles getting regreased, what a fun job trying to get all the ball bearings back in is

1 pointThey're a lot more fun than they look. Unless you hate how they look it would be worth taking a couple for a drive.

1 pointYeah many years ago it was a contender in the BMW Race series. Good to see it is still about.

1 pointI just so happened across this car today, photos don't do it justice. It should get close to what the Mora Metallic example went for (based on condition) hopefully the flat-peak facebook e36 gang don't get wind of it.

1 pointAhh, now you see, that is where you are mistaken, the 5 door Hatchback is the Gran Tourismo, the Gran Coupe is a 4-door with a boot.

1 pointI mainly watch 'silly / fun' car stuff on Youtube like Carwow / Donut Media / Hoonigan etc But for genuine quality, Henry Catchpoles Carfection videos are brilliant.

1 pointWouldn't be worth doing a manual swap on a 320i imo. You'd want at least least the 2.5L or 2.8L engine to make it worth while. Repairs largely depend on the condition of the car and how it been looked after. If its really only done 30,000km its likely hasnt been used much and may need a proper service (all fluids, filters etc) and a good inspection on a hoist.

1 pointI personally wouldn't be looking at a low KMs E36 320i for 13k, especially if you're wanting to then just manual swap it. Better off buying something like this https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2985237483?bof=8Z9MJgwM Which is already manual, has the larger engine, and looks like it's been looked after a bit.

1 pointHi all, Very new to four wheeled BMW ownership. I have my second bavarian motorcycle in the garage as well. I recently picked up a fairly well maintained 1987 525e from Motueka to use as a daily driver. I'm well chuffed with my purchase. I don't think the price could go much lower for a car like this before it starts to head back upward. It's a bit rough around the exterior with paint fade and some rust that will need attention before too long. Also missing its auto shifter knob and needs a heater switch valve (anyone?). Looking forward to learning more from the group. Cheers

1 pointBronzit over brown 4dr with a 4spd(!) and keep-fit windows. Hold me back! Edit: This bronze bomber represents superior value https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/318/listing/2976494409

1 pointGot a rear diffuser from Fancywide in Russia and put it together over the weekend. Balances out the rear end quite nicely

1 pointJust finished replacing mosfets on another dme. Only one was blown (open circuit) but replaced all 6.

1 pointI wonder if there is some chance there is a complete NOS one from any of the online retailers?

1 pointI’ll be formatting this post later and adding photos.... Date: 25 Nov 2019 Distance: 260740kms 1. Tested stereo with USB stick and .WAV files - works fine. ? First up: a blast from the 80's: Love, by The Cult. Playing 'Rain' by The Cult, from USB stick. 2. Replaced Clutch master cylinder and feedlines, bled clutch. It's now super-smooth, sweet and light. Not expecting a clutch failure now! Shiny new (Febi) Clutch Master Cylinder featured. 3. Reset Service Indicator (first green LED is faulty) 4. Replaced missing water pump bolt (Jon spotted that last time it was in). 5. Drained gearbox oil, mixed in 25mls of MBL8, refilled. (this oil is the Penrite Full Synthetic that was installed earlier this year. It's nice and clear. Gearbox is smoother. 6. Checked exhaust hangers. Will replace after Christmas. 7. Inspected and pressure tested cooling system. Found leaking heater matrix. Replaced heater matrix with good used Behr OE item, pressure tested and bled system. My e30 bleeds blue! Genuine BMW coolant sopped up by rags. 30 year old Behr Heater Radiator during removal. 8. Lubed antenna Auto 38 in Newtown, *THE* place to go for top quality servicing on your BMW. Thats it for me, the other stuff can wait. A clean and wax is all that’s left before e30 Mega Meet. And a bit of duct tape to secure that drip-rail trim ?. Maybe if I get excited, clean up the HT lead connections. My lesson is that I should have assumed the heater matrix would need replacing, given I'd already replaced the rad, thermostat & housing, all the hoses. I'll order a water pump, and a matrix for future use.
