Did some interneting, found a guide on how to screw with kombi using ediabas and hexadecimals and flick the mpg gauge into a oil temp gauge (when I want to make my oil temp gauge stop being an mpg gauge :D) ... then found this little program - Perfekt Toolbox. Works great! (the numbers here are what to plug in if anyone in the future is reading this) https://www.drive2.com/l/515881510977405074/ I now have a working oil temp gauge, that even shows oil temp. Now to solve the speedo, going from 260kmh to 280kmh on the lci has made it go a bit out of whack calibration wise (only starts getting bad above 140kmh)

I'm a 130i owner again! I sold my manual 130i last year to scratch a 4x4 itch. I regret nothing but I'm so happy to be back in a sports car. I second guessed myself a lot about buying an auto but I couldn't stretch to the asking price of the few manuals that are around. I picked this 104,000km auto for $7500 today. Exterior is a 9/10 (i'm not very picky so that number might be a bit high in some of your eyes 🤣). Zero kerbing on the alloys and no dents or scratches. Interior is a different matter.... I have no idea what happened to the sunroof cover lining. it's gross. I'm thinking about just ignoring it as when it's slid back, it's hardly noticeable. The idrive (?) screen is borked. Again, no idea what happened to it. It looks like a protective screen has melted onto it. The previous owner admits he started scraping off the lining but got carried away and has damaged the pixels. As the screen can be hidden (can you see a theme here?) it doesn't bother me too much but I need to do some research into a new system as I'd love to have a touchscreen up there for spotify and maybe google maps. Any ideas or recommendations in this area? Anyway. Aside from the 'blemishes' noted above, I love the car. I think the colour is beautiful and the rims/alloys really suit it. The auto box is far better than I thought it would be. Using the paddles in sports mode really wakes up the car. I was considering getting some form of golf purely for the DSG box but i'm delighted with the bmw. Having seen @M3AN's Showroom thread, i've ordered a set of the Nelson Racing paddles to replace the weird bmw setup. I chose to be ignorant of the US $ conversion rate but they came in at just under $300 NZD 😶 More than i bargained for but I can't wait for them to arrive!

Hypocritically, the same buyers of such cars will probably go out of their way to buy ethically traded African coffee and coco products

I reckon they must be reps that suit the 3 series so around et35-40

Cheers for the tips. I'll definitely get myself some of that sticky vinyl stuff. I meant to say that I do miss the howl from the BMWP exhaust. The standard setup on this car is far more grown-up & sensible but I used to get a big kick out of flooring the throttle through tunnels!

Wow! The price has dropped $10k. What a bargain!!!!

I wouldn't rate it a 10k car. Be interesting to see what the reserve is

Nice work! 💪 As for the display, I have one of these: https://avinusa.com/10-25-multimedia-navigation-system-for-bmw-1-series-e81-e82-e87-e88.html which is pretty good actually. As for the sunroof cover, get something like this and slap it on: https://www.amazon.com/VViViD-Black-Matte-Contact-1-49ft/dp/B00YLFSJ4Y/ - obviously measure first and order to suit.

If it's the one I heard about, it truly was a terrible example.

Yeah shouldn't be using any sort of grease on them. Id clean it off the parts and try with dish soap instead.

It's quite funny, I bought my G20 3 series about a year ago and even now everytime I get a software update and ask the car to take me 'home' it tries to navigate me to what I'm assuming is the home address of the bmw employee who drove the car before I purchased it. Regardless of how many times I reset my connected drive account and reset the home address to mine. There's obviously limits to the privacy of personal data I guess 😂. Other than that, I absolutely love i-drive 7 and the features available with the new Connected Drive.

XHP stage 1 atm with fresh trans fluid These are very solid units. Vital with this type of power increase to keep the temps down. Aftermarket cooling system is on order for this one. Plan B is the spare we have in stock. A comprehensive maintenance guide: https://sayyarti.wordpress.com/2015/01/20/everything-about-your-zf-automatic-transmission-issues/

It's actually a funny coincidence... the blue 130i I purchased 'by accident' a while back was advertised as having a sagging "hood liner". I purchased sight unseen and then discovered the "hood liner" (bonnet liner) was fine but the "head liner" (a much more expensive problem) was the bit that was sagging... the seller (a motor vehicle dealer but a private sale) said "I've always referred to that as the 'hood liner'"... it goes without saying that I gave him a look that said 'you're a dishonest bastard aren't you!'.

When looking at the aftermarket wheels sold in NZ, I could never find real information on the manufacturers and how or where their wheels were made. I wont pay thousands for wheels that, for all I know, are all made in China to low standards. Apex are a US based company that make great wheels for BMWs. you can import them or order though Speedfactor. Or look on tirerack for some good wheels and then look for a freight forwarder to bring them in. Have a look on Trademe too, you might find some nice used ones or some local supplier selling the reputable brands.

I'm wondering if there will be another boom once N54/N55 cars become classic. I can see it going down the toilet in the next 10 years due to the electric boom. Potentially makes it a good time to sell your classics in the near future?

If you were actually intending on purchase then I can understand your comment. But I am just going to give you the benefit of doubt that you are not yet a parent and don’t have the capacity to grasp what this all means for me and my family. one day when you are I want you to reflect back on this post and you will realise what I am talking about. I sincerely hope also you or anyone here never experience what we are going through ... when no material possession matters or mean anything any longer and you are constantly in tears at the thought of what the most precious thing in life really is.
