Left hook Right cross I know it's not 'correct' but that gray one is sex on wheels...

That estoril blue auto sold for 6k about a year and a half ago. Crazy how high the prices are getting with e36s. Don't know anyone in their right mind that would pay 16k for that.

Never really quite figured out why people attempt to block out their rego plate yet its still showing on the magazine cover in this particular ad?????

Ahhhhh I wondered if it was that same one, been for sale off and on over past 18 months or so I think?

Was free listings yesterday @Sammo I saw that SE, 320i v my 325i but did do a double take! If I could magic it’s gearbox across to mine… The silver SE used to be listed quite frequently this/last year. The seller wanted $12-13k back then but this was before E30-ageddon. It was tidy, had minor rust I think

Care to expand? Don’t know much about these models. @Sammo Unlikely that it’ll actually happen but you’ll be the first to know if I do mate 😄

You’re right, after reading the listing in more detail and actually looking at the photos, I agree that it’s a bit rough. I’d get a closer eye to see how much of the stone chips will buff out, and the interior needs a refresh but it’s manual, NZ new, full service history, 3 owners, and mechanically seems to have been looked after well. I’d rather deal with a bit of minor panel work, respray, and refreshing the interior than trying to undo years worth of lack of maintenance on mechanical components and also not knowing the history. Of course that’s assuming the other car has no service history and haven’t had [preventative] maintenance done to it. I was also more comparing the 16k vs 15k rather than the buy now price. To be honest though, another thing that sways me is someone who’s willing to list the ‘bad’ in that detail, I would trust more. But I could also be dead wrong and the other listing may have had all the mechanical work done as well and not have listed any ‘cons’ because there was none other than the stone chips. Who knows eh? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Don't worry, you aren't the only one. Also had the same issue with the red 540iS in Auckland around 6 months ago. How much are you willing to spend, I'm probably going to put mine up for sale next week. As for the thread topic, does it piss anyone else off that nearly every second BMW listed on trademe comes up as 'manual'? Seems to happen more with the 3 series.

    E12 based E24's aren't very good

The seller declares he is InTrade so the CGA applies to all his sales. Read his TradeMe feedback before casting aspersions on his business and character guys. No affiliation.

Made a dent in the list. Only issue was the hack who fitted the rubbish CTE FCAB's and cross threaded the RH threads while he was at it. Luckily the were repairable. FSU decided to start acting up so i had to replace that with a good spare i had. '02 build so may of been original. New genuine lower coupling on the way and will replace the upper as there is some minor play there also. Also fitted the 2x bottom rear window trims @hqstu gave me. Expensive parts for a little improvement.

The seller in question sold long string of Series Land Rovers, and never varied from the "I'm no expert on these" nd "I don't know" when asked questions. One or two of the vehicles had been in his family collection for many years, and he endlessly described driving them. Dodgy WoFs, vehicles not as described, shill bidders, fake feedback - all are stock in trade. He does have some lovely vehicles too, but I feel he has a one size fits all approach to trading. Get vehicle, make it look nice, sell it.

This one is an auto, but checks a lot of other boxes… Estoril e36 Coupe Will probably be snapped up quickly at that price…

Im very suspicious of that trader tbh, have seen a fair bit of discussion online about other cars he has been selling and hasnt been completely upfront with the history and condition. Wouldnt be surprised if there was shill bidding too. A trader with no feedback for buying or selling, and been on TM since 2019.... hmmm.

Join the club Whats your general budget? FB groups are a good place to look as well - theres a guy who has been looking to move on a tidy looking M52B28 swapped sedan for a while there. @BMTHUG is a good man for working on E30's - workshop on North Shore.

Yes, Dave Tunlley. They did the most accurate 4 wheel alignment before and after that I’ve seen. Bernard and the boys do a great job. I think between BMW Car Club and bimmpersport we’ve cornered the silver e46 M3 in Welly. Mine on 18s another on 19s and a CSL 😀

Wow, that’s getting up there. Looks a very decent car, but I struggle with the fact that three basic faults, odo gears, radio and pad wear sensor haven’t been sorted for that kind of money.

In my opinion $4.5k North Island $5.5k South Island. Stock springs and front bumper sorted out then maybe $6k

I'd like to argue that cleaning up rocker cover and removing the Cosmoline residue would actually take away some of its originality. It attests to how well it has been kept over the years.

Seen it in person. It is immaculate. And $90k for a car this rare and spec is actually reasonable. Its an Mtech 2 with a S14. And being LHD, it will also attract the US and Euro market buyers. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/amp34417313/bmw-320is-is-an-ultra-collectible-e30-m3-lite/

Your comparison perfectly illustrates why I cannot fathom the e30 market. While people seem to froth over that e30 (I can appreciate the build but it is far from my taste) and e30s in general, I do not understand how someone could justify spending so much more when tidy e34s languish sub 10K (for a manual 535i or a low km auto 540i) and even sub 5K (for a manual 520i or a very tidy auto 525i). A clean 320i Auto for 8K will be snatched up in a couple hours while a clean auto 525i will struggle to find a home at 4K. I definitely think its a case of E34s being undervalued rather than e30s being overvalued though. E34s are the BMW everyone seems to like but no one seems to want. A 70K price difference is just ridiculous considering the 540i probably drives nicer since it was setup with a V8 from the factory and has proper adjustable suspension rather than air suspension.

First WoF in my ownership today; held breath for the whole thing, flew threw 😰. First time I had a look underneath properly and found source of occasional oil drip (loose oil filter / sump plug seal). No rust, breathing out!
