I had the car out in the sun on the driveway (melting my credit card :D), cracked the windows about an inch and went about my day....... returned to find a laser guided bird sh*t had gone right through the window gap and onto the back seat! Quick clean up and all is well.

Having installed the same Akebono pads myself i can't say i like them due to the lack of bite (compared to OE stuff) but they do appear to have next to no dust though. I can see why you don't want to drive it in the rain after getting it to this level of cleanliness. Hopefully doesn't turn into too much of a garage queen.

You'll need to take the door card off to get to the connector... plastic pry tool to unpop the clips, thump with back of fist to install. Door handles etc pop off pretty simply from cables. Easy peasy.

If you are going to "plug the holes" for now, make sure you strip it back to bare metal as far as you can, treat the rust, paint it with something heavy in Zinc, and then fill the holes. That will at least slow the cancer in the mean time.

Plenty of room for a birds to hop inside modern wheel designs and let the owners know what they think

@E30 325i Rag-Top Exactly! better than burying ones head in the sand... I'm pretty comfortable with the extent of my findings (sunroof part excepted which I'm aware will cost $$$) - for boot I think I'll clean properly and treat it and plug the holes for now then get it welded and a new seal later this year when I'm getting the other 'serious' work done (sunroof tray / boot lid).

This is fantastic work, what art museum is it being installed in?

Looking for rust in an E30 is usually only bad news, but by doing this you can find it, fix it and stop it becoming terminal. Much better than ignoring it / hoping it’s not there. For that boot seal area, I would suggest the best way is to cut back to bare metal and weld in a replacement section (possibly from a wrecked E30 - worst case should be a simple fab job as it’s 90 degree bends and straightish). I would suggest that with bog it will only keep bubbling up over time - even if you treat it with rust cure.

For the price premium you pay for a 130i manual you are into 135i auto territory. The big torque curve of the 135i works a lot better with the auto than the the 130 in my humble opinion.
