Cert obtained. Well it's still going through the process of paper work but it's passed it's inspection with the final piece of the puzzle being a wheel alignment showing no more than -1.5 camber up front which I got today. Thanks to @Autoglym for the use of the hoist and @Olaf for assisting. Before the cert I met up with a mate who was dropping his recently sold Golf off to the freight depot.

New Indicators fitted, looking much better now! Also discovered the drivers side indicator had broken its clip and been double sided taped to hold it in place. So glad that got sorted too. Started to take the insert off the steering wheel and found it was pretty fiddly with the airbag in place, so going to revert back to my original plan of taking the airbag off, stitching on the leather wheel cover and doing the insert all at the same time. Which is going to need a few hours based on my sewing skills 🤣 As you can see it's got a shiny new airbag, but the steering wheel and insert are pretty worn. Can't wait to see what it looks like with new leather and insert on there.

Unfortunately, I agree that the market for out E60 M5s hasn't really firmed up heaps, but... there are less for sale these days - majority of M5 activity is F10/F90 now most are listed for $30-$40K nowadays - with some under and some over. @Jun yours is a super tidy example with good spec, low KMs and bearings done - so you're right to look for a decent price.

Just ordered new loom , genuine filter, gasket, zf lifeguard 5 fluid from Alltranz in Auckland. Not cheap but these trans need genuine stuff and the price was not too much more than sourcing offshore in this case.

Off for a WOF, no issues, that’s always good. Had ongoing battery problems, the whole twin battery idea makes it challenging, got a new top battery last year and it’s not survived well. Shop took it up with the supplier without asking, couldn’t get a replacement as no longer made by them, so they got me a replacement Bosch. Can’t complain at that service and effort for me. 😁

There's a good chance your heater has a leak and a previous owner couldn't be bothered taking the dash out!

all the cheap ones I found on ebay were not NZ compatible frequency wise for our garage the trick is to buy the mirror with the buttons, and then dismantle your old garage remote down to its circuit board only , which can then be hidden somewhere inside the roof lining and run a hidden pr of wires from the button on the remote to the button on the mirror. basically you are just using the mirror button to temporarily short a circuit and its very easy to do. its easy to see the points on the circuit board that the existing switch is actually working on and solder wires to them. you can buy really tiny replacement remotes for alot of merlin doors and you could possibly hide the whole circuit inside the mirror and bypass/cutout their incompatible circuit inside to make room for your hidden remote.

Thanks for the kind words @SmithyInWelly in this weird times we are in. I guess that "health is wealth" cliche isn't something you think about until it becomes real. Yes timing the market is not possible. I actually looked at selling our R34 three times over the decade, but my wife keeps in discouraging it. As we really enjoy the car still, how lucky for us when we needed to sell it there are still buyers for it 2-3x more than our purchase price. We where also lucky enough even with a dealers price cut who purchased the R34 sight unseen and very quick transaction. Either they already had a buyer already, or they knew they can sell the R34 much higher than current market prices. The cars are not as precious to us now, they are still very enjoyable still. Had it been a year ago we would not let go of them for anything other than silly money. Having a few nights sleep on it made me decide not to list on trademe. I feel there is too much energy and time in entertaining trademe buyers. I would leave this post for anyone to read in the future, or like you if you encounter someone who gets the V10 bug they can look at digging out this post. Maybe we get to sell in 1 month, 1 year or 1 decade.... who knows. Thanks love the community around the cars, I think that is what is best about the ownership of these cars.

There's no right or wrong answer Jun, you'll do what's best for whatever the circumstances you and your family are in. Timing is a crystal ball exercise... I sold my m135i early in the year and it seems there aren't a whole heap of buyers in the market with cash and ready to go. I've got a mate who is selling a (very good) E63 who's finding the same. If getting top dollar is important there's little evidence I've seen that it's out there at the moment - unless talking collectibles which are a different market again... but it only takes one person - and you need to be in the market when they are. Having seen your car, and how well it's been looked after - if I knew of anyone wanting a good e60 M5; I know the direction in which I'd be pointing them. Whichever way you go, all the best.

Nope, and yes, he appears to be someone who wanted to charge a lot for nothing. I went with Autocerts but he came to Napier. Was $750 all up including travel - cheaper than me going there, especially when I had an initial fail which I managed to resolve in 45 minutes while he was still in town...

Anyone else had the same opportunity to but it at that price.

No harm in that is there? At $35k it was grossly underpriced and $60k odd being the market rate

Doesnt mention if it will be sold registered or not. if it gets de-reg like most damaged cars through turners, it'd be a real a**hole to get back on the road. Kinda looks either stolen or vandalised.
