https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m5/listing/3506836571?bof=So2dRU07 I don't even know where to go with this, but we can all tell the this individual is a keen keyboard warrior on the hunt for an exotic v10 which they have done extensive research on (hence the question, got to get one of the late production cars with the lambo engine, it's the only one to have. Thinking about trading mine if this seller says yes.)

There's a good chance your heater has a leak and a previous owner couldn't be bothered taking the dash out!

A few years back I bought a bunch of genuine BMW GT1 units from a computer recycler overseas. All but one was working and the rest had smashed touch screens. I managed to salvage all but one of them (broken mainboard) and replaced the units with brand new genuine lcd panels and genuine touch screen panels and repair the hard drives. I further sourced genuine Sincon 28V power supplies for these. (Extremely hard to find) I was going to repack the batteries but have never gotten around to it - so the batteries are dead. You therefore have to use the units with the docking station only. The units originally came with genuine v57 DIS discs inside the cd drive and together with a set of genuine v44 coding discs I had I modified it to have both diagnostics v57 (up to around Feb 2008 cars) and v44 coding. (Discs not included with sale). The units will also come with a genuine yellow diagnostic head but replica cables from ebay for that authentic experience (these can be used wirelessly unlike the clone heads) Are these better than your laptop version vmware DIS? Yes and no, but you can’t beat the cool and nostalgic factor of having a genuine BMW diagnostic system. The asking price is therefore a reflection of these being a bit of a collectable so it is not for everyone - so leave comments about the price in your head thanks! I have seen working units of these sell on ebay for over us$2000 but I am asking less of course. Genuine working diagnostic heads alone can go for $1000 or more. So you will get: 1 x Group Tester One with new lcd and touch screen loaded with genuine v57 and with v44 coding capabilities( BMW, mini and RR) 1 x Docking Station 1 x Genuine Yellow diagnostic head 1 x Replica OBD2 and 20 pin round plug cable $1200 firm Keyboard NOT included

Unless you’re going to replace all of it.. core pipe, matrix, hoses, etc. I would plumb it back in to find exactly what is leaking, and where from. I thought I was staring down the barrel of pulling it all out when at the last minute I found the leak was from one of the pipes coming through the firewall (those ends sticking out corrode and don’t seal against the rubber hose). Cleaned it up with sand paper a bit of sealant for good measure and was all good. It helps that coolant is bright green so you can see it easier!

Not hugely confidence inspiring when the seller doesn't know the answer! Sure, he is selling on behalf but he either didn't bother asking the owner or the owner doesn't know. Either way, not great.

I have no idea why there are two images in my post - but the edit won't save the removal of the second copy.

Yeah id imagine the real high k ones are used and less likely to be for sale, rather barely used, held\sold for profit. Seen a few E36 M3's with S50 engines in NZ with over 300,000km, not much else.

You could probably code it back in with NCS Expert while still leaving it in Oceania. Using NCS Dummy would make it easier as well as it translates all the coding options into English. I'm almost certain I've seen options for MD while coding CCCs before.

Here it is! Every time I see it I just get annoyed lol. Its great how when I didn't have the money, cars like this were 20K. Fast forward 2 years when I could start to justify $20-30K on a special car like an e39 M5, B7 RS4, E46 M3 etc, and I'm completely priced out of the market. I have a folder on my computer dedicated to cars I have spotted for sale which I think were bargains. That M5 is part of it! If anyone knows of a super high ks/less pampered "cheap" E39 M5 (i.e less than $40K), please let me know 😂

APET on vogel street will do Dyno runs, think they're $150 or so? Had our old STI base-lined there, and had my rally car and WRX both tuned there. Potentially Turbo shop too, but haven't been there myself.

My 130 throws cat check errors on less than 98, since I reset the DME adaptation on 98. Could be similar, but as above... what are the codes.

The engine light will have an associated trouble code. What is the code number and description? If it is a mixture related trouble code: Record the 4 fuel trims when on 95, both at hot idle and at steady 100 kmph. Record the 4 fuel trims when on 98, both at hot idle and at steady 100 kmph. Post the fuel trim results here.

I wouldn't use such harsh labels but yeah, hard to mask the frustration all things considered. I guess my expectations were set quite high to begin with, which made disappointment that much more likely. Will definitely be more cautious next time before buying a car from a fellow enthusiast, sadly. Would almost prefer a car that's been completely neglected rather than one that's had god knows what done to it to an unknown standard. At least you know what you're getting and what needs to be done. It is what it is though. I do have big plans for it on the horizon. Stay tuned ✌️
