New joiner. Pics of the daily driver before we had kids, daily driver after we had kids. Both now in NZ (both kids and both cars) and we also have a Polo Cross. I don't have any pictures in of the Polo in front of Chateaus. Been a member of z3mcoupe UK forum for a while (since 2010 - a lifetime ago if you're 12). The z3m forum has been an excellent resource. There may be some overlap between z3mcoupe with bimmersport NZ too so 'g'day' to any fellow members. Cheers, Bruski

I also gave the under car a good clean today too. Quite impressed with the quality of this car. Everything came out like new with very little effort.

The colour is Hellrot Red, looks quite red in pictures, but has somewhat of a pink tinge to it. I used the same stuff but the matt black. Got it done today and gave the leather a good clean while I had most of it out not even one clip gave out and managed to reuse all oem clips which is a first for me

After a number of decades for the company, and over a single decade for me personally, today is the last day for BMW Group NZ operating out of the “BMW building” in Pacific Rise, Mount Wellington. From next week BMW NZ HQ will be out of smart new offices in the Mercury Building in Newmarket. Mixed feelings moving out of such an iconic building, synonymous with BMW, but onwards and upwards into the next phase.

Indeed Adrian it has sold @adro, it is off to Auckland on Sunday morning. Sold it for bit less than theoretical “worth” which I think itself falls below what I paid for it. Happy enough with the outcome, will be very happy when the GP goes. The buyer did a PPI at Continental BMW which it did well in, which was a worry going into but also confirmed it was sound. I prefer not to sell sight unseen so that gave us both a bit of comfort. Buyer didn’t want the plates Shame we couldn’t get a shoot together with your silver beast

Switching to my driver's seat renewal project, to renew my punished 22-year-old driver's seat with as fresh as possible foam. I scored a passenger sport seat back a while ago for the material, and have decided to use the foam and material for the refresh on the driver seat. As well as a new back frame from @hqstu The reason being is the Trimshop believes the outer bolster slackening the current seat has, is due to the seat chassis being bent, rather than just foam deterioration, the shape is defneatly off so doing both makes sense. The bottom is also ruined, with the chassis rail digging into my legs. Rather than muck around trying to find a good condition seat bottom, I've bought a new one from FCP because they are available (for now) and new is best, something the seat back is not readily available as. I will be reusing my material as it was repaired 2 years ago, So, the new seat cushion is a week away, and the back is more or less ready to swap out, so by the end of the month, I should have a decently refreshed driver's throne

Hi all - have lurked around these pages for a while (E30 conv '91 in the garage since '97) ....... was vaguely thinking about a new family wagon and seeing this car made that Priority No.1 so just pulled the trigger and looking forward to collection next week ! Entirely agree re the wheels ........ suggestions welcome along Alpina lines. Will find out Alpina cost for reference. I don't think any of the BMW dealers in NZ are Alpina agents (?) Have found with other car & non-car items where no local supplier that head office often happy to sell direct. Failing that maybe one of the UK dealers. HRE do an Alpina copy that's more expensive than the original !

@balancerider and @Sammo, a good question. A small phase of financial consolidation and trying to avoid “TradeMe + wine + winter boredom” flash purchases! Depends when the Minge sells too, may take a while. Have been winking flirtatiously at @adro’s E30 and it has been giving me the glad eye on the sly.

Someone got a bargain I think! What’s the plan when the Mini goes?
  11. 1 point
congratulations! Yeah apologies for not getting that sorted, I got caught out with the vin issue which meant my car couldn’t get a WOF for months…then some home renovations started, covid, kids birthdays…the weekends have disappeared recently. All the best with the mini sale.

It is cheaper than new, however reflected the niche appeal in the price and thanks for the good wishes @M3AN

Definitely the end of an era JT! Many a training, model launch, OOT delivery conducted there! Bit sad, but as you say time to move on.

The workshops’ main functions were for training of technicians and service staff, plus the preparation and maintenance of the head office fleet of vehicles. Thanks There was also a bit of “homework” done after hours, but H&S put a stop to that.. The circle car park with the blue and white fountain was a great feature, displaying the vehicles wonderfully. Not sure about the naming rights sorry, but will find out soon enough. Have heard lots about the coffee, but being a Pom I prefer a cup of tea and am too tight to pay when there’s a perfectly good coffee machine 💰!!

Also, that parcel tray looks mint!! Pretty sure I'll be doing the same once the car is finally back in sunlight and I can see it properly. To be fair I thought it maybe was supposed to be blue 😅

Heaps of wrecks and front halves on Trademe, was looking this morning. Only catch is they may want you buy the whole seats. I suppose something with the seat airbags triggered, which would make the seats trash, would be the best candidate. If I see anything I'll let you know. Do base models from Japan come with heated seats, do you know? Surprisingly the lamppost impression one @BM WORLD has, has intact seats.

Anyone seen an E8/9x wreck with heated seats anywhere? I wanna lop me off some connectors.

From the Motorsport Manual... From this it would appear that a standard stock every day road car is not required to have tow eyes. However, to be safe you would need to check the regs for the event and if necessary, confirm with an event organiser or scrutineer. For what it is worth, I actually got an extra OEM BMW tow eye and used one front and back. As if you put your car in a ditch you can't always choose if it goes in front first or back first, and having somewhere obvious to attach a rope might save some damage. Incidentally, if towing eyes are required, to meet Motorsport NZ regulations they should have a minimum internal hole diameter of 40mm to be legal. This means that the OEM BMW toolkit screw-in tow eyes are not legal. So basically you would just be providing them voluntarily Cheers...

Msport kit and aero wing certainly do a lot of heavy lifting, it's aged nicely too. I remember seeing the 1 series in Motor magazine at launch, thought it was fugly.

No space for lifts or workshop in the Mercury building, what were they used for in Mount Wellington? Do you have any external branding rights or will it be a low key HQ? I was invited to tour the Mount Wellington building in the very late 80's or very early 90's, just approaching the crescent carpark with all the BMW's reversed in was cool. Sushi and coffee is good downstairs at Mercury, inflation has hit the coffee, but not the sushi yet.

not a bad looking car by any means its just the big headlights on the e87 and e82/88 take a bit of getting used to

For that money you could get one of the best sorted 130's out there and have more range of enjoyment, and less chance of death. Base manual LCI 130i in good condition, low km's plus: LSD Coilovers if you know what you're doing otherwise mint aftermarket shocks and springs w/camber plates M3 front and rear arms and sway bars All new bushes (w/inserts if required) M135i/140i front brakes (rears are optional I've found but E8x 135 rears, painted to match are less faff) Stainless exhaust, or BMWP backbox (if you can find one - probably not) 280hp tune You might even be able to squeeze an intake (GruppeM, Simota, BMWP, etc) Edit: Plus cert of course If I ever get tired of mine, I think I will part it out rather than sell it, I'll get back more than I paid for it.

I have a reasonably above-average income. We have a 20% deposit for a below-average-price house. We cannot get a mortgage to cover the difference because my income is "insufficient to maintain the loan."
