My wheels arrived, delivered straight away by auto form to my work, great customer service. Went with a square set of 235/40/18 tires, decided to go with the Hankook Ventus R-S4 as I have heard many good things about it being a reasonably long lasting grippy semi slick, and managed to get them for $280 a corner through a sale on hyperdrive. Got them fitted and balanced and no scratches on the new wheels which I was very relieved about. Got the m4 brakes mounted on the car with the seems legit garage adapters. Was a pretty straight forward install, just took some trimming of the heat/dust shields, especially on the rear. I ended up cutting a quarter of the front heatshields out to allow the brake ducting to be more effective on the front. The front brakes I used the factory brake ones, the rear brakes I used the m4 ones as they are slightly longer, to account for the much larger discs. As far as sensors go, I have left the original 135i wear sensors and zipped them out of the way, in fitter I may splice the m4 sensors into the 135i plugs. Gave the brakes a bleed with some fresh mogul rbf600. So far it all works great, and looks fantastic with the new wheels, just needs a wheel alignment now. Took the car out for some photos.

BMW special tool #318364. Left two bolts either side of the starter to be safe. Will see how it goes.

New carpets after loom & floor pan tidy up. Fitment wasn't perfect but decent all things considered (easy to cut & trim). The underlay is pretty thick felt; hopefully better than OEM sound insulation (degraded 35 year old foam).

Been a while since i updated I got 20,000 out of the rear PS4S but interestingly look like i will only get 25,000 out of the fronts. Oil changes annually which is about 7000km, changed trans fluid, gasket filter and one time use aluminium bolts again as the change procedure only removes half the fluid. Car still running flawlessly but will look to change out all pulleys and belts shortly and the injectors after that. I have some new control arms to fit so when the front tires hit 3mm soon ill swap them out and get an alignment and new tires. 8AB53DA3-EE6A-4BC4-B1BD-739FAB9737CB.webp

A good wof inspector will sit in the passenger seat and test the occupany sensor. Mine does. If it throws a code, it's a fail. Just something to be aware of.

That post got deleted on FB for the $7k ones. Not sure why. I have a mint staggered set without the stars on my race car. Feel free to pay me $5K for them. I am not attached to them at all and would like some more race car parts.

buckets= brackets?. I fitted a set of Driftec ones to my mates car they gave him a huge amount of toe in, around 10mm iirc Seen many high end race cars use these: https://www.mk-motorsportteile.de/en/p/bumpsteer-camber-und-rollcentrum-correktion-kit-e36-e46-wtcc

After a 2 year hiatus due to family things it was a mad 3 month scramble to get the drift e36 back together with the new gen4 6.0, ecu, wiring, gbox, clutch, exhaust etc etc. Had a few teething issues with the new cam/valve springs and cooling system but managed to get it up and running the day we need to head off for two days of drifting 😰 so loaded up and hoped for the best... and we got it, two days full noise and not a single issue, couldn't believe it lol. Now its time to dial in more rear grip (running a 265/35/18) and find a good solution to upgrade the rearend - diff/axles

Update - After i was unable to get the car running right it sat for a year while i got busy with other projects, however its back on the "to do" list and ive replaced a couple of coils and cleaned the MAF which made a difference, ECU still throwing MAF errors and there's a slight stumble so have ordered a new MAF. Also have an error that looks related to back pressure at the o2 sensor, the car still has the original mid section with the cats and at 300km theres a good chance they are clogged, so have a new Super sprint midsection to install. The Vano's is a bag of marbles as well, so Ive slowly been collecting parts for a full vanos rebuild and will kick that off shortly.

When you arrive to drop off some wheels tyres and the fella says "oh, I thought I was buying a whole car" 🤦‍♂️

Pretty cool and a bit rare in NZ I imagine, though thats a 2.0 engine, the "3" comes in as its tuned from the base 120d, not actually the engine size.

Isn't that what all the parties do ?

Hi Andrew, can't believe I just saw this thread - I was talking to someone about the car and looking for my sell thread photos and stumbled across this! I had been keeping an eye on TradeMe to see if it would ever have been relisted. The car is looking great and loving the stuff you have done to it. I was a fan of the blacked out trim as I thought it looked more aggressive and the white and black interior was something special. I miss the noise this car would make and now considering to get back into another one! I'm sure you would agree now the facelift model was indefinitely much nicer than the 08-10 cars ;) I still look back at the photos.
