Been a while since I've updated this. The cars been going well. Been driving it quite a bit in some of this good weather we've been having. I've sorted out some of my wheel rubbing issues. I've also replaced my RHR window motor so all 4 now work, It's my favourite part of the car. Here's some pictures from a couple weeks ago taken after a Legit/Split meet. Enjoy

Dude, whoever did this would have been a real enthusiast to do that and front the cash, clearly they wanted it and had the means to pay for it. Why would they or anyone give a rats arse about what the next owner wanted. Really, like we all do ? I doubt it very much. And if a behemoth brick is all that's suitable for a disabled dude then maybe you should start looking at trading the E46

My mates got a jammy leg and spent 100k on a 2013 auto M3, disability doesn't change the feel from a great drive.

wonder whats on the build sheet, auto or manual. There is a legit reason for sports cars in auto; disability.

So this is the new car that will be replacing my trusty e36 coupe. Clubsport E46 in Velvet Blue 2005 Some of you may recognise it, it was previously owned by a member before the guy I bought it from. It was for sale a year ago and I wanted it back then but couldnt, so when I saw it come up recently I knew I had to have it. Will update with plans and more photos once I actually get to drive it more, at the moment just sitting in the garage until I sell the E36. Some sneak pics of it after a quick wash the day I got it

Dude!? He hasn't called anyone out yet, he's just asked the question. And you've flipped out and called him 'mentally challenged'. You seriously need to think about the words you type.

I'm a bit partial to this but it wont be on the 750. This will be reserved for the 740i..lol

I think we got the tone of your post about right. BUT. If we have got it wrong please enlighten us.

Success with Tony's today. Gave them a ring and they put me through to the Area Manager. He was horrified when I told him what had happened and assured me that one way or another they would put it right. Even at the expense of having the upholstery repaired. He was a good guy to talk to and I'm pretty sure someone in the Wanganui shop is going to get a well deserved kickin. I will be expecting another call early next week to work something out.

About 3 weeks ago Reppers had a 25% off stock not already on sale. 10w60sn happened to be 25% off which worked about to be $85 for 5 litres. Let's group buy a 20 litre drum!

I've wanted an E9 for as long as I can remember. They are such an important car in the history and story line of BMW. Their success in touring car racing in Europe in the 70's is nothing short of astronomical. All whilst being one of the best looking cars the company has ever produced. Several have come up on Trademe for sale in the last few years but the timing and budget have never quite married up. About 6 weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and fly down to Christchurch and have a look at one that was for sale down there. Needless to say the car was exceptional, a few issues but in the whole exactly what I was after. So a week later it arrived at work on the back of a truck. Its a 1973 3.0 CS left hand drive in automatic, malaga red with tan leather interior. Sold new in Germany it was imported to Japan where it had a minor restoration and then to New Zealand about 18 months ago. Its going to be a slow process as i still have my E30 I need to sell before i can really start doing anything to it but at least its a start. I've played around with my set of BBS RS off my E30 and cant wait to rebuild them into appropriate sizes and get them on. Also bring the car down to earth a wee bit.

So this is pretty funny / sad / retarded / disturbing / infuriating! Have a close look at the tranny, way to ruin a classic! I can't imagine the conversion adds any more to the near perfect factory set up. unless maybe you are into back to back to backing cigs and need that lighter hand free. I struggle to understand what initiated the owner to come to this decision expect for them maybe being into back to back to backing cigs and needing that lighter hand free. Further more what about the person that carried out the work, surely they would have stepped in at some point to shut it down and send the customer on the way with hopefully a better understanding of what not to do to such a prized possession. Be interesting to see how much it goes/went for in the auction.

Yikes! Andrew sorry to have offended you. So to update Andrew was correct, there is a o-ring there, it has flattened and turned into basically plastic, i will be honest this is my first euro, in the past i have only worked on Nissans and Toyota with traditional filters. I think calling me mentally challenged is bullshit. I have been a member of a bunch of car clubs and have never had this kind of reaction when trying to put up a notice to help other members avoid similar situations. If you read my other post you will notice that i would not name them until talking to them first. I have met a lot of mechanics through various car scenes and whist you seem to be passionate about what you do i have met a lot who do their fair share of lazy / dodgy work (ie zip ties on drive shaft kind of crap) they give a bad name to the profession that i am sure you know all to well. I was wrong the workshop may have done the job properly, still not sure as there is still no top o-ring. When i took the housing out i did syringe up the oil from the housing and there was no remains of the 2nd o-ring, either it broke apart or was not installed, i cannot say either way. Andrew, have yo ever seen the bottom o-ring disappear? Anyway, dumped the oil last night, replaced the filter and o-rings again, fresh plugs, cleaned off all the oil that was in the belly pan and on the side of the block. Also installed a BMS OCC at the same time, really great piece of kit! New pads and rear disks will go on tonight. Also might try to tackle the new intercooler i have sitting around waiting to go on

You should direct your comments to op not me mate, he calls them idiots then goes on to say "I'm not sure if you guys support naming and shaming on this forum if you do let me know, im happy to out these guys!" I effectively told him that I do not support that kind of crap. Got a problem talk to the guys face, but don't threaten to defame someone or talk sh*t behind their back especially when you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm honestly just standing up for my beliefs and have certainly not "flipped". I probably shouldn't have questioned his mental stability, it just seemed probable considering the conclusion he came to. I just seriously thought hard about what I just said, hope that's ok?

Haha i highly doubt i about the 410 horses. 225 or whatever it is is plenty for me tbh. The car steering is heaps lighter than the e36. Its really easy to drive and the quicker steering rack is nice also.

If having a auto in it makes such a difference to price then someone who can pick up tools will grab a bargain and put a manual back in it. No biggie. Or as suggested someone with a disability will get a great car at a bargain price. Either way its win win.

it looks better in the photos that it actually is. front and rear bumpers have been resprayed but colour doesnt match and theres overspray etc but those are all minor things for me as I love the car and the colour. i have absolutely no intetion to change or sell this car for many many years so everythings going to be done.

Nice! I remember this being for sale roughly 10 months ago. I love the color.

number 41 of 113. And thats total in the world. It's the most exclusive E38 ever built. They made more L7's than these. I'll keep this one as original as I can. I'll play with the color on the 740i though when it comes time to paint that one.

There is no drain on the oil cooler and you wouldn't do it as part of a standard service

    Truely awesome. Great workmanship!

thats cool. was that a feature from a later car? seems odd that something as high spec as the 750i wouldnt get that standard.

Meyle, Behr, Boge etc are all OEM manufacturers. Only difference between an OEM listed part and a Genuine part on Pelican is the branding on the box it comes in. So far the stuff I've had from Pelican has all been excellent quality, and even with the added shipping & currency conversion costs still cheaper (frequently less hassle too) than buying new locally. Probably not so much now our currency cross rates are in the low 60s. Ethically I prefer to buy from local suppliers, but when the aftermarket suppliers are still 100%+ more expensive in some instances (not always, but often) than buying online it's really hard to justify it sometimes. Yes, I'm well aware of smaller markets, less demand equalling higher margins on small run products, but when the budget dictates I can spend a maximum of $x on parts and my options are imported OEM or local aftermarket then in my opinion it's a no brainer.

I wouldn't clear coat the lips if they are polished for several reasons. One being that it dulls the finish no matter what you do. Secondly it will chip very soon after because the paint has nothing to stick to. I speak from experience because I did this with a set of wheels, whith proper paint and a gun not spray paint (and I am not new to painting either). Some paints will last longer than others, but eventually they all chip or peel and then you have to recoat the whole thing, no way to fix it. On my e28 I polished the lips and simply spray with silicone spray after every wash. Every once in a while you can go over them with a metal polish like Autosol to bring them back to 100%, but I've left them for months before and they only needed a light polish. My car lives outside 100% of the time.

Looks real nice ... I do agree with the more tire comment a little, do understand its the look youre going for though and it looks mint! Congrats, I think youre the first person Ive seen whos nailed 'the look' properly with out it looking just all wrong and over done in a long time.

Put my wheels on this weekend. Still a few things to do but I'm pretty happy none the less

Rant marked 1/10. Lack of extreme hyperbole, absence of excessive swearing and proper spelling all counted against. You also left out 'dont you know who I am'.

So it's been a while. I've just been driving the car as much as I can, smashing holes in the ratty old exhaust and doing little maintenance bits and pieces. I've slowly been chipping away at a set of wheels, they should be done in the next month or two. Here's a couple photos of the fronts.
