My E30 (now sold) didn't have one, so I bought a new one from BM Parts on Coleridge Street, I think for less than $20, if you have no luck borrowing, could be the go for you. @SmithyInWelly That's excellent news!, I too was concerned my (hip) op would make driving of getting in and out of low cars suck, but so far so good, just have to take it easy.

Hahaha I had to look at the photo to see what you were talking about, that's an end cap for the water proof light fittings used by meadow mushrooms, made in New Zealand.

I was wondering how much that DMV scene from the movie Zootopia imitated life.

You might be right, I just remember it was a smaller number than the last one I sold, which I thought was the 240, but maybe it was a 260... too many numbers

That's a good price, I think this is the only box the E30 series guys are permitted to use, you could try advertising it there too http://www.bmwraceseries.co.nz/?page_id=17

This cool story popped up in stuff today The Cure visit to Wellington: "They felt the love - they could be themselves and not be mobbed.'' http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/music/95297507/Flashback-Fascination-St-The-Cure-jam-and-party-with-Wellingtons-post-punks?cid=app-iPhone -
Suspension update for the 335i
LemonHunter replied to Herbmiester's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Short answer, probably, but not for long! -
Agree, agree, a million times agree. I ditched Facebook months back, I retained messenger for convinience, and made a ghost profile for a couple of local buy/sell groups that benefitted me, but this account is without friends, photos or information about me. facebook is nearing supercession I think, it may one day join the ranks of bebo, MySpace, MSN messenger, altavista, metacrawler, kiwi online, eBay New Zealand and everything else that died despite seeming indispensable to many people.

This is my impact socket for front wheel bearings, worth 1/5'th what my whole damn socket set cost haha.

Often the best is FCP Euro for the parts man, probably easier to replace the affected arm, kill two joints with one stone. https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/525i?year=1993&e=177&m=20&keywords=ball joint There are others overseas too that I've used, like Pelican, Turner Motor Sport etc.. Someone will hopefully chime in with the Software that exists, i've forgotten what it's called, but TLDR; use parts finder to get a part number, whack the number in the software and it tells you shops and their prices where the part is available. Always cross reference prices with freight and GST if any to local places though! Beware of SAS, they use a lot of unbranded 'house' brands, I do use them for some stuff because it's cheap, but I'm wary. I've found a place in Christchurch (Also a branch in Auckland) called BM Workshop, about 30% of the time their price is comparable or lower than importing the same. http://bmworkshop.co.nz/parts-department/ Oh, and Brent @BM WORLD has a full front linkage out of an E34 M5 from wheel to wheel including the drag link that's in fairly good nick, but I decided to go new.

We kind of have a tool thread, tools for loan at least, I guess the equivalent of a spotted thread, but tool Pr0n would be the go. I'll post up my impact drivers and external torx set.

Regarding the cone Saga, I was once told that in Christchurch at least, a lot of companies don't buy them, they lease them, $1/day/cone, looks better on the balance sheets and it's not (as much) their problem when it gets damaged or stolen... if that's true, some people have gotten very wealthy, the numbers have definitely subsided here, but still thousands of them out there. A cone is only worth around $30, so if it survives the month, the rest is gravy, 6 years later... We talk in terms of pre and post quake here some times, I think about how kids who were over say 4 pre quake, grew up in a town with very few cones, and kids born and/or under 4 at the quake probably only remember a city covered with cones (and ruins).

When your point of comparison is Wellington, I can see why you don't think Auckland is that bad, but coming from Christchurch, traffic outside of rush hour or major sports event is exceedingly rare, In Auckland, over the weekend, chaos reigned.

WTB E36 SEDAN/COUPE OBD1 without running gear
LemonHunter replied to needsprings's topic in Want to buy
It's actually not that expensive these days to re-register cars, $233.86 complete with 12 months Rego. -
This is my set, it's pretty rare I need any other tools other than grabbing, pulling and hitting tools. For circa $250 (Cheaper at hornby branch and George Henry Tools) it's pretty hard to beat, I'm not kind to any of it, and nothing has complained. The articulated Socket Spanners have been particularly helpful over the years. What isn't obvious it the driving stuff, PH1/2/3/4, PZ1/2/3/4, SL x 4 Sizes, Torx 8 - 40, a few impact sockets and I could go on... The lift out spanner holder is awesome too. Photo doesn't show the partition that keeps the upper tools in place, and has a high contrast drawing of every size and it's location for quick reference. https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/bahco-socket-set-106-piece-orange-black-and-silver/p/267254

Bahco sounds german though, so it's definitely better than everything else. Okay Actually Swedish originally, that explains the fish and the hook. But Swedish Women, I rest my case, buy Bahco and have blue eyed babies.

Darn it, yes, 3/8, mechanicing is more of a resented hobby, I don't enjoy it that much, but I can do it, and prefer it to paying outlandish prices, labour I get, but the mark up on parts too! (Have access to trade pricing parts)...
-
Haha, I meant 1/2" and 1/4" drive, I always found 3/4" to be pointless, just racking up the part count in the tool box without actually giving you more tools (bottom of 3/4" sizes duplicated by 1/4", and higher 3/4" sizes duplicated by 1/2")
