Have heard the M5 compared to many things, but never a boat! Will be most interested to hear where the water is coming from.
-
Can see a bit of Fisker in there too
-
The Isetta is a cool car. Much better than all the 6 cylinder cars BMW built. The new Active Tourer is a really cool car too. *ducks*

Is the McLaren F1 a contender for this list?

Bloody good, in 10 years time these will all be worth 10grand and we'll all have one, can't wait

Assuming it is the 328 in your profile pic- it is an easy job. There are many high quality walk-throughs on the web (first place I'd check out is Pelican Parts) which make it all quite straightforwards. "Best" place? The cheapest you will probably find a good quality (or even genuine) radiator is FCPEuro.com, myself and many other members here have used them and are happy with them. The BMW dealer will of course cost a bit more, but will sell you the genuine item. The difficult part will be bleeding the system- it can catch you out if you haven't done your homework, but is by no means rocket science. Take Andy up on his offer, I doubt it will take you both more than an hour.

One cannot be seen on ones driveway by ones neighbors, lifting the bonnet of ones BMW and giving the Toyota owning smug @#$% the satisfaction of saying "BMW- see, unreliable!" Just replace it. You can even get fancy schmancy alloy ones now for a couple hundred, and as Kyu says, you'll no longer have to worry about standing on the side of the road with steam pouring out from under the bonnet after keeping the poor thing going when it was giving you fair warning it was on it's last legs.

Dammit Kyu you get all the deals

If the twin is the one I am used to seeing, it is a 540. Very interesting to hear, thanks for that. One of the reasons I went for a 530 over a 540 is that nicer more direct feeling front end. I'm sure any differences will become much more obvious when driven hard. Have... err "fun" with that ///M tax on your new ride
-
Very nice Stu. Given you have now driven the 530 and the M5 back to back, just how big is the difference in handling?
-
Out of curiosity, just what is the fuel consumption?
-
New radiator and oil filter housing gasket in the touring, now it hangs onto all its oil and coolant for a nice change

What did you do to your Volvo, today?

You should see the size rubber the old Auto Unions used... -
I have used FCPEuro a number of times and found them to be very fast and well priced- shipped to NZ in under 4 days- then wait another 4 days for NZ Post to sort their 5h1t out and get it to my door. @gjm- they also do Merc parts, which may make them worth checking out for you.

FWIW, called *555 recently about a truck that had lost some strops and its load was coming loose, plod just happened to be down the road and sorted it out- then the officer himself rung us back to thank us. As above, you could always ring them up, and then make a formal complaint.

I love hearing about Amon tuned suspension. It's like hearing about Rossi spec nifty fifties.

1996 or thereabouts. His commute is 1300km per week. It's disgusting, it gets an oil change every 8 weeks and basically light bulbs and wipers as needed... and that's it. Last cambelt went for 400,000km before he decided maybe it wanted a new one. I still refuse to own one.

Found out my old mans Corolla is on it's factory clutch. The car has done 740,000km...

530 Touring spat its waterpump out so new w/p, t/stat, coolant reservoir and some hoses went in, all sitting spare waiting for an excuse to be put in. Also plastic welded up a crack in the rocker cover, I'll be watching that like a hawk to see how it holds up. Oh, and a new wheel sensor in the 520. Byebye yellow "oh sh*t" lights
