  1. Me? Today? Kerb-kissed my left front wheel ascending the car parking building this morning. Arggghhhhh. Oh well, nobody hurt other than my bruised pride. I think the cosmos is suggesting I should be walking to work.
  2. screaming out for a project or showroom thread! Congrats re the garage, happy days. time you posted tool pr0n pics too.
  3. well there ya go, pay for BMW Club membership, your second scan is basically free! what a deal!
  4. misfiring should be pretty straightfoward to sort out. You've a good mind for understanding systems, and the fuel and ignition systems - whilst having more inputs/sensors than your e28, can all be understood and diagnosed accurately. Get the codes, go from there. I still have a couple of coils you can borrow, gimme a shout. I'm picking air leaks or coils, based on little more than past experience and a little intuition. Third would be coolant temp sensor, based on it reading wrong when it's faulty and riching up. Face it all head on, don't let it get you down mate! Plenty of folks here to support/help.
  5. watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers that I haven't seen before: BMW Z1! I still like the Z1, those door mechs are awesome. You don't hear much about them these days, and they're pretty low-tech with M20 running gear. Anyone got one in NZ?
  6. "special american cheese" brilliant! What's VGT?
  7. bumpity bump-bump. roll up, roll up - having starting issues in winter? need spare troubleshooting coils? 0-221-504-100 (boot is 1-220-703-201) also good for a bunch of other models, just google!

    Maxxis

I'm most drawn to this advert because of the 'Superior' badge. Like 'Executive' on the holdens of the 80's and 90's, it's that snob-appeal that makes me chuckle. #8 )
  9. ahh yes, swirl flaps. it's a case of buy the blanking kit and eliminate them before they break, yeah? Is it that the ZF5HP doesn't like the torque of the dis-easel? Mine needed rebuilding simply because it was run under the 'sealed for life' regime.

    Quick rant thread.

Nooooooooo! Would that mean our national badminton team would have to be renamed from the errr Black Cocks?
  11. potentially great buying as a daily commuter box. me likey.
  12. 159590kms. Changed cabin filters. Easier than I expected. The iDrive had said they were due to be changed. I picked up Meyle charcoal filter sets as they were cheap. Pretty good, though noted a couple less pleats than the OEM Mann filters that I removed. Now I need to reset the iDrive to tell it I'd done that oil change and cabin filter change. Brake fluid is due.
  13. oh wow, Andy's old one? cool.
  14. "Every new car has teething issues, and press cars are notoriously ridden hard and put away wet. But this kind of behavior is remarkable. And yet, for a certain set, the Giulia remains undeniably compelling." yeah, these are the people magnetised to the girlfriend/boyfriend they can't say no to, knowing they're unreliable, unfaithful, un-everything. These people are called emotional masochists. Still, the Giulia is great value in 2017! Used to be that you bought an Alfa for the passion, and the Chrysler because... well, you wanted a sh*t car. Now you get both in one package! The marketing guys are foaming!
  15. I remember this car, he was doing work on my street with it as recently as last year, used to see it parked in Mt Vic too. I carjamed the pers plate, odd it's not on another car yet. As others say, with some TLC it'd be a cool car. Friend of mine had one of these in UK in a dark charcoal colour, followed by an e39 540i wagon. He loved them both. Did you end up buying it, Charlie?
  16. according to the photo tags, no. though it's now 'selling on behalf'. Looks like the last auction winner didn't complete. It certainly looks tidy. PPI in Auckland through a solid independent would be the go.
  17. I think it's the very same, Kelvin. Worked near you. Haven't checked my images yet to confirm the plates...
  18. You realise you'll need to stock your wardrobe with black trench coats and adopt a slow, trudging walk, right?! (I'm not serious, I like purple cars).
  19. many thanks. quick editing in Lightroom, takes about 2 mins tops. You're correct, I'd never make a successful dealer, as I keep my cars too long... hence I sell comparatively rarely. Selling's a big job for me as I like to do it well, ensure the buyer gets the info they need to make a decision to buy. Images, description, vehicle well presented. And I get the money into the bank; that's my measure of success.
  20. oooh, another e60. cool! what colour? is it a shade of silver, grey, or black? I posted an 'advert' for monochrome e60's a while back. #8 ) seriously though, yes you'll want to ensure your e60 is in good fettle. Cooling System and transmission preventative maintenance is a good place to be. have a google search for "so you've bought an e60", which will net you a link to a forum and a PDF file that's updated frequently. Best to have a paper bag nearby, in case you read your way through the whole doc in one sitting, and start hyperventilating. It gives you good pointers on what you need to to, should do, might do, on your new car. Don't forget to enjoy it, though! And as Pete says, joining in in some of the group activities is a great way to get stuck in. cheers Olaf
  21. when Clive had it, it was stock as a stock thing, he was working to ensure it was top notch. Looking on car jam the plate was original until June this year. Paul, are you thinking on an M5 donk, or an M54 or similar?
  22. stealthy! welcome to Bimmersport, there are a number of members who're running 335i in various states of mod. This place is full of friendly info and experience sharing, with an excellent signal to noise ratio.
