  1. @NZ_InFerno really hoping you can have a period without anything breaking on this. Feels like you’ve replaced every engine ancillary now…
  2. @Olaf Only recall I'm aware of is the EGR cooler on 2012-2017 N57-engined models (also common to N47). Not sure if the manifold may have been an issue on earlier ones. What car are you looking at? n=2 but both of the N47's in our family are >250k km without issue
  3. @Olaf reports of N47 timing chain issues I think are a case of internet echo chamber magnifying what is a clear issue affecting a small number of a common engine. 30k km oil change interval is pretty unlikely to help...
  4. that exhaust 👀 (might require a friendly WOF)
  5. @Eagle N series petrols for sure N47/57 seem pretty sound.
  6. The M5 just has that 'je ne sais quoi' - only RHD touring M car, RWD, even with all the bad bits pointed out above. If it's still unsold if / when AKL gets out of lockdown I'm going to fly up and look at it...
  7. I wish I belonged in it @aja540i but sadly my life is too busy
  8. The Venn diagram crossover between wagon owners and people who want to work on their car I think is smaller than for other body styles
  9. @aja540i do you know if the E6x M5 was homologated for a towbar? It actually adds to the appeal for me (bikes / trailers etc) but would replace with the Westfalia detachable assuming it fits...
  10. it's about 10k over what an equivalent nz new sedan goes for and would guess the touring market is pretty small
  11. there is a 13k bill from the main dealer so either SMG clutch or bearings. i'm moderately interested but tripling the fuel bill might be a stretch. depreciation would be less though
  12. Can you get it without the red accents? 🤮
  13. M Sport Plus pack (on UK cars) included big brakes / HK / High beam assist and those double spoke 19’s. Shadow edition same thing but with black grilles, smoked taillights and nice carbon fibre interior trim. That car is almost a twin of mine (only missing adaptive suspension)
  14. @m325i my partner can't stand driving my car so not a problem for me 😂
  15. @Kees channeling Sreten from M539 Restorations! He's been doing the same to his E32
  16. Just needs rid of the Goodrides and we have a winner...
  17. Yeah the UK spec does tend to be lower - be surprised if no leather though as post 2013 all the 330+ models were luxury line or m sport so leather as standard with alcantara as option. I’ve never understood the fuss about manual seats though. Pointless £1000 option IMO, how hard is it to move the seat with a lever. I would like an OEM reverse camera on mine but it’s probably in the too hard basket
  18. @qube N57 in these is supposed to be solid. I remain a bit skeptical about factory 30k km oil change interval
  19. @leichtbau those ES run outs are a nice spec, the blue stitching looks great.
  20. Is the spec noticeably worse than the X3 30d/35d? They all have all round parking sensors, almost all LED/Xenon's, most have Pro Nav and quite a few have pano roof. Seems to me there wouldn't be too much else you'd want? They're not cheap though - mostly around the 50k mark, I paid just under 54k for an 18 month old one at end of 2017. The NZ New 330d Xdrives frequently had adaptive lights / 360 deg cam / speed limit info but 110k for a small diesel wagon new was taking the piss a bit. For comparison a base 335d Xdrive MSport in the UK was 42.5k GBP.
  21. Unless you're planning on removing at times I'd probably not spend the extra on the BMW OEM / Westfalia bar (main advantage is that it's removable), but the original BMW wiring harness will play nicely with the vehicle CANBUS system, no guarantee that a generic one will. SD European appear to be dismantling several X5's with towbars and could probably do the install for you. https://www.sdeuropean.co.nz/cars-for-dismantling?make=bmw&series=csv5ba865a99525e&chassis=csv5ba865a9951be

    Project E39

This is going to be great @hunter. You still planning to put on the Euro-style boot lid at some point?
  23. Yeah probably overvalued but there was a 2016 LCI white one with decent spec that went quickly with an asking of low 40's last week. Having had an E91, it's a much more comfortable car than that. All the F3x 335d's are x-drive, the 330d did come as RWD but again UK only for RHD wagon.
  24. Think you won't be able to be too fussy @leichtbau, these are much rarer than the F3x gen (even though all of those are imports) - wish mine had the twin exhaust like previous gen. Space grey is the best colour for these IMO, can't remember seeing an NZ new one without Xenons. Good luck though - the LCI 330d would also be a solid choice as has the N57.
  25. Welcome! It appears your fleet has beaten you here
