2008 - 650i (What should I look for when buying?)
balancerider replied to JBM3's topic in Want to buy
Valve stem seals - blue smoke if you hit the loud pedal with cold engine. Would steer clear. Ironically the M-engined V8's (S62 / S63) seem to be more reliable than the cooking versions. -
@Palazzo it'd pay for itself in saved fuel after a week or so.
-
@Jacko I believe we got EU spec cars here, which require headlight washers with Xenons. Alarm lowers your insurance premium in the UK (?mandatory) and I assume our spec is based on theirs. The other thing that the Japan market cars don't have is the VIN sticker on the driver's sill.

@Twistee WFH the only commute a V10 suits.
-
Are we to assume the M5 is going to be the daily given the STi only has two doors? Looks great anyway
-
@topnotchrally Low km (70k ish) NZ new E61 M5 Touring. Asking price was 70k. @Twistee has purchased so hopefully some pics and a review to come.
-
@han16 looks so good with small plate and deblacked. M539 Restorations would approve
-
My sense is that for high octane gas (by NZ standards) the order of preference is BP > Mobil (no added ethanol 98) > Gull. Not sure where the NPD fits.
-
Great colour @martyyyn! Alpina-esque. Hope the maintenance budget has some fat in it to replace those Jinyu ditchfinders on the rear...
-
So good. I hate hate hate that small Japanese / US plate trim.
-
@Nzrooney Jon @Auto38 in Newtown should be able to advise you
-
@leichtbau thought you'd never ask! 😂
-
Followed this on my SH2 commute this morning. Sounded good...
-

E30 on BBS's 😍

very impressive. the 135i wheels give the game away a bit imo. would the brakes fit under 17's?
-
@han16 Michelin PS4S come in the correct size (albeit slightly higher load rated than the original PS2's).
-
How many km on that M57 when it went in? Pretty impressive stock power from an old diesel...
-
Gearbox going to last at 800Nm?
-
different badging for different markets - the 125kw N13 badged as a 118i in NZ and 120i in Japan, the 'real' 120i had the 2L N20 4-cyl. happens all the time, the Japanese 523d is actually a 520d with N47/B47

The 120aH non REX i3 is looking more and more appealing - pick up a second hand one ex-UK, 250ish real world km and pick up a healthy rebate... -
@DriftitMe too - Mat Watson is bloody annoying with his 'pretending to be Scouser' accent as well...
-
Took my lead from @Jacko - dog was no help in my case though

The addiction continues in the form of an E46 330ci
balancerider replied to Contrails's topic in Showroom
@Contrails much more accurate than the other options
