  1. Yup, E36 M3 Saloon @M3AN My sound system has been a big let down since owning. It has a JVC BT/USB headunit and I replaced the front 5.25" front speakers with Rockford Punch components, but only installed the mid-bass speaker. This gave a slight improvement but overall the sound was just full of 'highs' and was very 'tinny'. So in search of more 'bottom-end' I went with the 6X9 in the rear upgrade. Settled on the RF Punch P1692 speakers and used E36 6X9 adaptors, (bought off trademe and was surprised they are still available), which made the install easy and reversible whilst maintaining the factory look. It won't win any 'sound-offs' but as mentioned - am happy with the result so far with a more fuller sound (but still need some more bass!) I also have a Rockford mono amp and 12" sub to install, but will be left with no boot space. So tossing up whether to go with a 4/5 channel amp set-up to amp all the speakers (will replace the door speakers and prob go slim sub) to give the sound a bit more lift. I'm no audio-head but I do like to enjoy my 'mp3 sounds' when I'm in the mood. And you may have guessed I'm a bit if a Rockford Fosgate fan ?
  2. Replaced the 'upgraded' JVC 4" speakers with some Rockford Fosgate Power Series 6X9's speakers in the rear deck of the M3. Huge improvement ?.

    Quick rant thread.

Kinda related.. but when you take your wagon for an 'express service' and when you pick it up they've charged more than twice the 'menu' price cos "your car takes more than 8l of premium oil sir" - WTF! First of all I haven't been knighted and yes I expect to pay a premium but over twice the amount, c'mon!! The price to pay to not get your hands dirty! Last time I'm goin in for a pitstop...
  4. Anyone want to buy a holden adventra so i can buy this?? ?
  5. Interesting thread. If I was in the market (which I'm not) for an M car, then this would be in serious contention: https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2157038245. High kms yes, but seems no expense spared by PO. Two less doors and impractical but an M6 would be so much fun! IMO - if you got a V10 M car for under $20K and got at least 12 months of 'maintenance only' (oil/inspection services and fuel) bills then you are ahead. After that just enjoy it and fix things as they happen (cos they will happen eventually as with any car. The risk , as should be accepted, is just higher with these). You would be paid in many, many smiles every time you drive it and these will far outweigh any purchase + maintenance costs and headaches. Trust me ?. I reckon we sometimes get a little too wrapped up in a 'preventative maintence' mindset and forget to actually drive and enjoy our cars (thats the universal 'we' and 'our') ?. I sometimes wish I still had one when I do my long trips and get stuck in traffic through the Desert Road haha
  6. I have owned one e36 twice and am definitely no moron, nor drongo... ?
  7. Fair call. But I'm sure having two different experiences from two different customers with the same dealer/retailer/customer service is not uncommon - we all probably have similar good/bad experience stories ? . I'm confident though that they/he is no 'Wolf of Church St'... Perhaps a local member could take a look on your behalf, maybe?
  8. Don't know this wagon specifically, but have bought an X3 (a petrol, manual and also UK import) and E60 M5 (what a beast!) from this dealer previously. Dealt with Andrew (who owns the business) directly both times and he made it a simple and easy process. Too easy actually ?. He also provided excellent after sales service and sorted issues promptly. I have no vested interest in Euroland other than as a previous repeat customer. Give them a call if you're interested - nothing gained, nothing lost ☺️. Hope this helps!
  9. Ahhh man, if this came up a couple of months ago... wanna swap for a Holden Adventra ? GLWS
  10. Nice score Pete! Like the blue too ?
  11. What an awesome E34, I like very muchly! GLWBuying!
  12. Ummmm, whats the right way? ? Great sound though!
  13. Have a chat or go see Zane at Automatic Transmission Repairs, Plimmerton. He really knows his stuff and takes the time to have a proper chat regarding your issues/requirements. He is very familiar with the ZF gearboxes. Local garages I deal/dealt with all recommend Zane for all gearbox work. I have had a couple of GM gearboxes rebuilt by him to a very high standard and he doesn't cut corners. A local member had their X5 trans rebuilt by Zane recently as well. Hope this helps.
  14. The only EV worth owning - E31 840ci ? http://www.evbmw.com/ He has been building this for 2+ years. It has Tesla components installed and looks very interesting. He has done some pretty cool conversions of 90's era BMW's. The E30 looks to be very tidy and well done!

    E39 M5 - USA style!

I agree the amber indicators don't look quite right. IMO it kinda ruins the overall look a great looking car. It's the same with the original 8-series. All the US ones have the amber FTP's, even the CSI's. Which is wrong, just wrong! And by the way the M5 is looking great!
  16. Thats awesome! Back on topic - what thoughts/impressions, good and not so good, does your boss have on the M5?
  17. @Olaf I couldn't help myself. Its a case of 'doing it again' - the clubhouse remix that is ? Look forward to the coffee and cars catch up next week...
  18. I also contemplated buying it at the time as well - looking back now it was a great way, and price, to experience an E34 M5! Good to know that it is still around and lives on! What about the NZ New ultra-violet one (possibly in the pics in this thread - apologies if it is, I haven't fully re-read thread) that came up for sale through Turners a couple of years ago? Where did that one end up? Personally would love to own an E34 and E39 M5. But unfortunately for me, it seems that prices are steadily climbing... I shulda, wulda, culda ? . Happy with the E36 M3 sedan though ?
  19. Ressurection of this post has got me thinking - anyone know what happened to, or where is, the green re-shelled E34 M5? I recall @BM WORLD sold it 5-6 years ago?
  20. I contemplated an XR5 late last year, when two came. They remind me of an XRi Telstar I had, which was actually a pretty good liftback. And practical too! I've actually ended up another Adventra - Don't know why, must be that 3m+ practicality. It sure ain't the economy ? Can't go wrong with Mondeo, and thats coming from a 'Holden' guy haha!
  21. Bugger about the coolant leak @TermiPeteNZ. At least it looks like it is, or was, the correct BMW approved coolant ?. Auto 38 will have you sorted in no time. And the M5 is looking awesome as usual!
  22. Didn't go for an ST version then @SmithyInWelly ? ? Congrats on the purchase and look forward to seeing it
  23. Look forward to the next local catch to drool over the M cars ? These are awesome videos as well! I would like to see the same done with the M5's. Heres hoping!
  24. What could've been is now going to be? ?
