I should state my shitty 80's Mazda was a Series 3 RX7 I won by accident in an Ebay auction for 70 quid. I ended up just driving it anyway. One day I came home from work to find it was just gone. Stolen, Towed.. Who knows. Who cares for 70 quid.

Will pass on the salt water damaged parts thanks. On my phone I could only see a blonde lady driving and M3. Was wondering if it was Amber. But remembered she has a PPlate on hers. No offence Amber.

sometimes performance and "looks cool" are not mutually compatable. Agreed it looks cool, but if I was in the market i'd prefer to locate a standard one and mod it myself. Rather than deal with the issues of a car that's been scrapping it's ass all over the country.

Is there a 'statute of limitations' where the authorities have to notify a vehicle owner of a speeding offence within a specified period of time? It's a real annoyance, more than anything else. Mrs M was driving on SH1, 7.30am on 29th January, and was (allegedly) detected at 106km/h. Usual story - clear roads, fine weather, miles of visibility... We received the letter this morning; it was sent on 16/02 (as far as I can tell.) In the UK there is a requirement for a notice to have been issued within 14 days (not 10 working days) of the offence having been committed. It's really not worth arguing this one in any official capacity - it's $30 and no points. All the same...

Hey guys - The lower bushing in my left rear coilover is worn and causing a knocking sound (Isn't affecting handling however). I'd rather not have to pay for a whole new set of coilovers and the car is currently my daily so I'm unable to rip the shock out and have it sent off for a rebuild due to time restraints. Does anyone know a shop or a mechanic (Central Auckland/north shore preferable) who will be able to press out /cut out the bushing and replace it? I've talked to a couple of suspension places who appear apprehensive to do so. Cheers

Awesome work Amber and a late congrats on the new toy. You dealt with me at your work, getting the e90 M3 tinted.

Clearly more evidence that shows most of BMWs longtime 'logical' engineers in the 80s-90s are well gone these days, leaving it to the new kids to take their places.

Tell her to slow down to 75, and cross the centreline on every corner using only secondary roads with poor visibility. It'll take longer to get anywhere, but the cops will pay ABSOLUTELY NO ATTENTION to her whatsoever I honk at ANYONE crossing onto my side, and it's not that unusual for it to be a cop car taking a shortcut around town along my road. None have turned around yet... It would be nice if they did - I have a dash cam

Exactly, and so what? doesnt look like a hell of a lot of user serviceable bits under there anyway. At the end of the day, the car will be under warranty and service plan for a few years, so no one other than a BMW tech will need to touch it. After that, im sure the aftermarket will come to the party and make life easier for the second/third owners. Its likely anyone that can afford a brand new i8 wont care much for messing around with it.

It's a shame they never gave it say 450bhp. Arguably the Nissan GTR is the better Supercar.. But still Japcrap. Here is one of my toy at Targa. Shameless post! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is good to remember that NZ Consumer Law is not relevant here, so any arguement for or against is moot anyways. UPS and USPS are two different companies. I always use FedEx when I get the choice. the only company where it stays with the one company right from start to finish, and none of this he said she said bullshit. I cannot stand SOEs Thread closed, no extra information is to be gained by this thread.

Yeah Blair found that out the hard way! In that case, nothing really. My E30 and E34 alternate all the time, havent driven my E34 since September when the WOF ran out, havent done a thing other than start ocassionally, and keep battery charged up
  27. 1 point
It is absolutely relevant. What that comparison shows, is that in that instance, if something is sent it is deemed delivered regardless of actual delivery. Furthermore, good luck with trying to get the Consumer Guarantees Act to apply to an overseas country, you know considering jurisdictions and international law and all that.

Let me put it another way which might make it easier to comprehend M3AN's position. s 210(2) of the Land Transport Act relates to service of infringement notices: "If any such notice or request is sent to a person by post, then, unless the contrary is shown, it is to be treated as having been delivered to him or her when it would have been delivered in the ordinary course of post, and in proving the delivery it is sufficient to prove that the letter was properly addressed in posted" So? If an infringement is sent to you and the sender (Police, Council etc) can prove it was sent, it is automatically considered received. Why? To avoid parties refusing responsibility by claiming "I did not receive anything in the post". Of course seems unfair as we all know sometimes the post as a matter of fact does not turn up (see: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10876193 and see: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/1396748/Postie-accused-over-missing-mail-items ) but it is contrary common sense to blame, for example, the Police (as the sender) for the nondelivery of an item by the service provider (NZ Post).

Use higher octane gas if topping the tank up. It lasts longer than 91 before going off. Either that, be prepared to drain the tank if leaving it for a couple of years. One a month pump the brake pedal a few times. Do the same with the clutch. Buy a trickle charger for the battery and leave it connected. i'd also look at starting the engine every few months so the cam belt isnt left in the same position and the cylinder bores / valve train gets lubicated as well. I do this for my Ducati which has done less the 20 kms in the past three years but never have any issues relating to sitting.

also loose gal . ( automatic stereo volume increase / decrease based on speed) Ike Nav display directions , speed warning ( eg 104 kmh) to name a few By the looks of the N6 you'll gain audio quality ( op amps are superior to circa 2000 studio quality opamps used in old system) , more recent apps , better mordern smart phone Intergration, better bluetooth , better id3 tag support for tack name etc.

The only legislation around traffic infringements that I can see is the Land Transport Act 1998 and the Summary Proceedings Act 1957, both in relation to service of an infringement on a person - does not give any specific time frame for service once an act has been committed in respect of speeding infringements. One would think however that the notification period would have to be "reasonable" (aka 365 days later to the average person is unreasonable). Legislatively imposed timeframes are as follows: From experience that sounds like a pretty standard time frame from date of offence to service of infringement. Out of curiosity I always request a photo; you are entitled to have this - if they cannot produce you should not pay

yep - I was early 30's, full NCB from NZ (driving 15 years), 3 years in Mexico full NCB, insurance in UK quoted 2,400 quid on a 2,500 Saab 900 or 9000. I purchased an old Vauxhall and ran it for 18mths to get a history, then bought e30 325i touring that cost less than 100 quid extra to insure (under 500 quid per annum by that stage). that was around the turn of the century; I understand it's all much more pricey these days. in short, if you've no history your risk is deemed as high and they charge you accordingly. buy a cheap 4cyl hatchback and put in your time to build a history. there's lots more to spend your coin on in UK than wasting it on huge insurance premiums! Or, get a job that includes company car as a perk, then you're sorted. Plenty of perm jobs come with a car in uk. HTH

I had very similar problems recently You can test that the car still starts by bridging pins 11 and 14 on the diagnostic port. Does your key still turn to the start position?. Your problem may just be the ignition switch which attaches to the back of the barrel. I had the same problem with my door locks, I just installed a Keyless entry kit that I got of trademe for about $40.

I can't remember where i was reading liability laws for the U.S, but NZ Consumer law states goods delivered by a business that are delayed / lost, the business is liable not the consumer. I know it's probably not the same for international, but I did read similar when reading through stuff the other week about lost international packages. Anyhow I have raised a case with PayPal, I'm not blaming ECS but maybe this will get their attention. I'm not exactly going to sit back and let my $500+ go down the drain. Maybe as others have said, it will turn up eventually. Would prefer it did too..Save me having to reorder again.

Not sure that is the case. In the instances where I have had issues with non-delivery, both domestic and international, I have been told that I cannot do anything about it and only the sender can contact the postal services involved. There is an "international agreement" that covers it. I got bored reading it on about the 15th page of blah. Might not be the senders responsibility as it has transferred to the postal service, but it is still with them to pursue the non-delivery.

E30: New front swaybar bushings New offset m3 solid LCA bushings Steering response and braking is hugely improved. Noticeably less body roll (both the old sets of bushings were totally toasted) E36: New waterpump New thermostat and housing New rad hoses New coolant That'll explain the overheating.

I think there is a fair bit on this forum and online about how poor (and expensive to maintain) that engine is. Ask forum sponsor Glenn (B.M.W. Ltd)... He will tell you all you need to know, and if that doesn't convince you to look for something else he can also do a faultless PPI.

You can still make the most of that donor 728i. Move all the better stuff over, but tbh the 750il, stuff you would think is better? At the end of the day, your biggest calling card is the V12, that is the thing you have to secure. For a lot heartache, going to a swb version is not worth it I don't think. You can move all the better interior over from the 728i and you are half way there. But heck go for it, if you want to, mucking around with cars isn't always supported rationally. Having a LWB V12 probably isn't that rational anyway, so what the hey? Sometimes doing stuff with our cars, is because you want to, because you see the justification, and that's all that matters. Cheers

Just wondering whether this is actually Atlantic or Neon Green. Studying the colour palette for the 850i and these colours seem more likely options if the the colour is indeed factory. Unfortunately what maligns vehicles like this one in NZ too is the left-hand drive scenario- reduces the appeal for many. Stock standard 850i's even with excellent provenance and service history (not to mention being NZ new too) sit around on trade me for these days . Shame - as Jooles has illustrated that with some work and love they can be a fabulous car with tremendous road presence.
