3 pointsOn the subject of mail... i've lived at the same place for over a year and a half and I still receive mail for like 10 - 15 previous tenants. Redirect your bloody mail! Goes straight in my bin.

2 pointsIt's the bloody Real Estate Agents I can't stand, what a waste of time they are. Couldn't put a price on our house, "what's the RV?" was the question they asked when I wanted them to tell me what they would sell it for... Pathetic excuse for marketing and advertising (all at our cost..) and a couple of Open Homes. For which they wanted to be paid between $18k - $22k (based off the RV as a selling price). And I thought Estate Agents in the UK were supposed to be crap, they certainly do a lot more for much lower fees, and do more of the actual transaction as well rather than just pocketing the cash and palming you off to a Solicitor to pay more fees. So I thought "f$%k that for a game of soldiers" and got some quality photos taken, put the house on TradeMe did a couple of Open Homes with the wife and sold it three weeks later for $20k more than the highest valuation from any of the Real Estate agents, total cost to me of less than $2k. Net gain in my wallet circa $38k for about eight hours work. And as for the Agents in Auckland when looking to buy.. HA!

1 pointOkay so you guys will have seen Johns thread selling the iS lips. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/52437-is-mtech2-e30-front-splitters/ I was in the very first batch, and got mine yesterday. had had a few cans so thought it was better to wait till today to install. Today couldnt have gone any longer at work, just couldnt wait to get home!!!!!! Anyways, lets get into it Open the box and take it out at least a few hours before you want to install it, and lay it out flat, probably want something on it to make it flat The screws that come supplied are woefully inadequate, these come with them from the USA, and not johns fault! chuck these in the bin. Go to Mitre10 Mega, and pick up the following: - 10x M4 bolts, at least 15mm long, i found a packet was cheapest - 10x M4 nuts, you could use regular ones, i used Nyloc type, dont want it coming loose, and there is no way you would know. Mitre10 part number is 198006 - 20x washers, they are called Fender washers, a suitable size in M4 they didnt have, but they had M5/3/16" type which have worked very well. Mitre10 part number is 901484. these washers are probably not compulsory, and at a dollar a piece, you make your own decision. the lip and the splitter are acrylic and either plastic or fibreglass, so might as well. will take one knock and the heads will pull through. washers are good idea okay once back in the shed, first step is to put on the Mighty Car Mods album on. you should only need it once with the lip on the car already, sit the splitter underneath, and decide how far out you want the splitter. if you use the manufacturer holes, it sticks out a hell of a long way. Personal preferance i guess, but i didnt want a snow plow, or trip over the car every time i walked around the front. take the lip off, put it on the bench upside down, and site the splitter on it, at the same spot. measure out where you will be wanting your holes, they need to be in the center of the lip itself I decided they needed to be 20mm forward of the predrilled holes can be drilled roughly 20mm, doesnt need to be toooooo accurate. drill some pilot holes with a 2mm bit. remember you are working with acrylic, you want to be carefull or it may crack. you are drilling only into the splitter at the moment. then use a 4mm bit and open them up to the size you need for your bolts. M4 = 4mm if you didnt already know. Do this for all the holes that you want to use then upside down with the lip again, and clamp it in place. i used a normal g clamp and a vice grips, just what i had available. make sure the lip is on straight, and sticking out the amount that you want. once you got that sussed, drill your first hole, through the splitter and into the lip with your 4mm bit. the one you want to start with is the very middle one, to lock in your decision how far out you want the splitter. Then put a bolt through with a washer, and put another washer and a nylock on. it it isnt clear, you will want the head of the bolt pointing at the ground after the splitter is on the car. Cool! nearly done! easy eh! should be onto the 4th song in the album about now! make sure your splitter is still lined up correctly on the lip and straight!! next drill the holes on either side of the middle one, and then bolt it in, working your way to the outside. dont work from the other side and come in, because you dont want a warp/wave in the acrylic. at this point, hopefully you are just about done, and, needent do this next step. you may choose to do it anyay.. on mine the very edges (by where the tyres will be), it wasnt sitting against the lip, and had a bit of a wave here too. drill a pilot hole with your 2mm, and then with your 4mm. for this nut and bolt, you do not want a washer of course. this bolt is really only to keep it tight up, will do nothing to contribute to strength because of location. now the last step may or may not need to be done. if you have it mounted all the way out, you should have no excess splitter back here.if you mounted it further back, you will need to trim this, either with a hack saw, or get the grinder out like i do. all nicely trimmed! there, you are done!! should look something like this and a couple of pictures on my cabby. you will have to wait for some better ones at hard park on sunday. its raining here so dont want to put the car outside

1 pointGet a fabricator to do some stainless pipes and just pop on a remus or supersprint mid and back box. Will sound great and give good top end performance, Or just grab a HSV second hand mid straight through muffler (stainless) this is what I did ,with Remus rear .. works a treat
-
1 pointHas it got a rear window sun visor? The on my 8 is broken wondering if I can pillage an E39 one to make it whole again... If they're similar mechanisms and size.

1 pointWe're selling our house in Ponsonby. Its RV is $1.3M more than we bought the house for 23 years ago. Yes, we're very fortunate (and work hard and planned ahead) but we're still sh-tting ourselves because a house with a bit more space locally will need the biggest loan we've ever had despite being all but mortgage-free right now. And, after nearly 25 years in Ponsonby, we don't want to move to f---ing Hamilton to live in our dream home!
-
1 pointYea it won't actually be that sparkly, the flakes will be finer so it will appear to be black in one light and dark blue in another.

1 pointBeasty was picked up today, kind of an emotional departure. Stopped by the paint suppliers and picked up my sample sheet, colour will be similar but smaller / finer flakes

1 pointThe phenomenon I like to call "straight line drivers" as in, they can only drive in a straight line, the first sign of a curve and they have no idea how their car can go around it and proceed to be on / off the brake pedal all the way around, even though there is a F%$k-off big sign telling them what the "comfortable" speed around the corner is, and they were 15kms under that speed to start with. Then as you say they piss off at a million miles an hour at the first sign of an overtaking lane. This is where machine guns or rocket launchers should be allowed to be used...

1 pointI get a shitload of the Indian telemarketers calling me because my mobile number is on our website. Normally when they ring I am sitting in traffic so just lead them on a wild goose chase for about 45 mins until they ask for my credit card number and then I rip into them. This happens probably 5-7 times a month. Normally it's for a SEO company that promises to take my website to number one on google. I don't know if this video works or not but here is a small snippet of one of the ones I recorded. This lady rang me back after I ripped into her coworker. This is the safeish version before it got feral/racist etc. Can show you all of the others at the pub next time. https://www.facebook.com/ashkan.razmi/videos/10152656758433097/

1 pointSome nice parts on it. Shame its a 4 door though. 4 door E30's are great for racecars but crap for carting passengers. Less room than a coupe.

1 pointLegally you can be asked to be removed from their database right then and there. It falls under the same laws as email spam and unsolicited letterbox turd. Ask for the persons name too. I've done this a few times and it actually works. There was a case several years a go where a guy was constantly harassed by a company .. He ended up sending an invoice to the company for his time at his normal charge out rate of 70 per hour ... This was after he sent them a letter stating that if they continued to call his number that it was now a paid for service. Went all the way through the courts, he won and also won legal fees. Made a tidy profit from the company as I recall. The company also still had to remove him from the database and new legislation was introduced that if you want off you can get off their database.

1 pointI could see no such problem when houses were affordable five years ago. First home buyers wanted the new VW Golf, Hyundai shitbox SUV, latest iPhone/pad/mac with their first home in Parnell Ponsonby, Howick, Takapuna, Devonport etc. They wanted what they moved out of (their parents home) as a result of 30 years of working, saving and climbing up the property ladder. So of course their ideal first house, and everything that comes with it, was out of reach. Prioritising, a foreign concept. Most average suburbs were attainable a few years ago to the normal Kiwi or first home buyer. I suppose an average house in a not so desirable area (most of West, Glenfield, Pakuranga etc (imo)) is still possible on two average incomes but most of that joint income will be servicing the mortgage, that is if they can save enough for the deposit in the first place. I am over reading and hearing about this housing/pricing crisis in Auckland, and how hard it is to 'live' in NZ, most rabid hysterical leftists having a stab at the govt. or anyone with wealth/assets behind them at any opportunity they get. Pack ya sh*t and f. off to another country and see how green the grass is. FFS if ya can't afford a $600k dump on a small section in Auckland look elsewhere. BOP, Waikato, Malborough Canterbury etc. Hamilton and Tauranga, and close surrounds, will benefit greatly from this drama going on in Auckland over the next 5 or so years. A lot of Aucklanders priced out of the market, or cashing in, are already moving south. I suppose when the rest of them see what a higher quality of life, and better value for money is on offer then the domino effect will really start.

1 pointWent for a drive out to Muriwai (and around the place a bit) to go for a jog on the beach. Car didn't skip a beat! Its the first time I've had the car in the windies proper, and I couldn't stop smiling. Plenty of power for me, and with the solid engine mounts, you really feel the engine. So glad that I deleted the power steering. It is a great budget option to improve steering rather than replacing the rack with a faster one from a e36/46, and doesn't have the effect of modernising the car (which I am trying to avoid). The steering loads up beautifully in corners, and the feedback is great. Not so heavy at slow speeds that you can't get it to do what you want with a bit of manhandling. It has just transformed the car and created a hugely engaging driving experience, which is really what this whole project was about. Could do with a LSD though.... Anyone have any recommendations on what the best option for sourcing a LSD would be? An e30 with illegitimate M-badges on 18" chromies and a fart cannon exhaust tried to race me on the way home. I did not engage. Have been speaking to DKM Fabrication in Wairau Valley about getting a new exhaust put together.

1 pointThey don't work. Put your left hand on the ABS unit.... stick your right hand index finger up your arse and recheck. If that doesn't work first time put your right hand index finger down your throat.

1 pointGraham, I will call you this evening once I can get hold of a mate of mine. He used to own "Carburetter Reconditioners" and still does a lot of work especially on race cars. Conviently he lives in Manurewa and does this part time from home. Cheers Brian
