Time for a bigger desk at this rate. Could've removed both vanos units and timing covers at the same time but didn't want to risk loosing/forgetting where I put parts in an already cluttered garage. Looks like someone put a 540i lower chain tensioner in. Although they fit and measure up the same, the M5 tensioner has more.. tension. Hopefully the new one comes in before next weekend. Previous owner fitted a new water pump and was very generous with the silicone sealant, spent a while cleaning it all off and from the thermo housing cover in the first pic. Nekk week the mail man should be delivering all the seals, sensors, tensioners, washers, bolts and Eisenmman race exhaust to put this one back on the road.

Looking forward to seeing this one tomorrow, would be nice to have the Estoril's side-by-side. Although yours is sure to be cleaner than mine!

I am fan boy of the style 32 and that looks great! Major win with your parts car. You probably already know this but the shadow chrome finish on the wheels is really vulnerable - just clean with water and a lambs wool mit to keep clean. I managed to ruin mine with chemicals.

Kicked out of home and on daily driver duties nowadays. The neglect might be undone with an eisenmann exhaust.

Sold the 328 coupe for 1900. Paid $1000, spent $300 on it, swapped the Motorsport kit for standard over to the touring which is the same colour. Think I came out alright from it

I adore this color. Couple of photos nice and clean. Tints done by carfolie last weekend. Spent 2 hours waxing. o.o

BBS RG's on. Square set of 17x8 painted in Gunmetal. 235/45/r17 on the rear, 225/45/r17 on the front. Up next on the to-do list: Booked in at Carfolie this weekend for Tints - getting sick of the sun murdering my eyes from the side windows. Wire up 18 button OBC this weekend Install black front bumper mesh insert (Removing the m-sport style plastic grille) - Likely this weekend Got Powerflex poly RTA Bushings sitting here to install at some point - (SJ?) Then steering rack ends and misc ball joints that I'll replace. New rear brake pads are in order - whoever installed them last broke the retainer clips so they're rattling which is infuriating. And will eventually get on to some Koni shocks with H&R springs in the new year I think, my wallet could do with a rest. Just going to put some k's on the manual conversion and enjoy the car.

This looks like some next level stuff. Its like a limousine made in to a daily driver........can't imagine what they would cost!!! I know the info is about 3 months old but i still wanted to share in case some of you (like me) have not seen this till now.

I paid $250 for mine + postage from Wellington about two years ago. Only one had a slight mark of curbing which was easily fixed and they all had center caps.

^^^^^Paintless (sp) Yep a good idea if not too bad or creased. I have had great results with this on various cars. Only as good as the operator though.

Thanks Brent. That's certainly cheaper than EUR350.

Cheers. Hopefully I haven't overdone too much, don't want to over capitalise. The ethos of this project is to keep it feeling and looking reasonably stock but in good resale condition (even though I'm not planning to sell).

That's ridiculously clean and tidy! Props.

A conversion like this requires a cert even if it is using all OEM parts unfortunately due to the power increase and the fact that the motor is totally different to the original motor (and a few other things..). Getting a WOF will not be a problem as the WOF officer's task is to make sure it is roadworthy and with no modified parts like mountings, suspension etc. They do not care if the motor suddenly has 2 more cylinders..Much like they will not fail you for having illegal numberplates as they do not affect roadworthiness. If you have an accident the insurer is very unlikely to pay out, and, if stopped in a police checkpoint, you will stickered if they realise you have 6 cylinders instead of four. When I did my m52 conversion in my 325 many years ago now, I got a WOF as everything looked/was OEM. My cert guy told me to do this before I brought it to him as then he would know if there were any issues apart from the conversion. Made his job much easier and cheaper as he did not have to go through the car with a fine toothcomb checking every component.

All the supercheaps sold out well before midday. The Mt Wellington store told me that they had ten people queued up before the store opened. I went to four stores and all were sold out, but it can still be bought online through their website. It will have to be ordered today. Through friends getting some for me, and ordering online, I've managed to get 7 bottles of 5w30. 35 litres for $280 is awesome in my book. I bought oil filters from repco as they had 25% off filters, and supercheap were selling for full price.

Good to catch up today Conor and take her for a drive. Quite a peppy beast I must say, certainly seems dialled in and loves to give back above 4k RPM. Lucky we didn't lose her when that dude ran the red light (real late too!). Lots of little project items for you to get your hands dirty with too and if you need ideas check out my project thread. I still reckon you should get Brent to install that shock mount for free!

Tomorrow (all being well) I'll be squeezing her into the garage. Fingers crossed there is room! Then the fun starts. It's very unlikely to be on the road for a few months.

It's his first day, go easy on him. In 5 years the answer won't have changed I imagine. You think some manufacturer would have come up with a toroidal perpetual interdimensional forced induction filter by now though... still the same old fibre oil and mesh bullshit.
