Hi all, Well Ive just come back form a successful week of racing over 1000kms over the week that is Targa NZ and Its the longest rally of its kind in the world. Between my wider family we had 5 entries of 4 BMWs (2 E30 M3's one E30 325 and my compact) and one Subaru wrx comming from Australia. The compact Finished 4th overall out of 60 something cars, my brother Carl finished 3rd in classics, My old man in the M3 had engine issues relating to oil consumption and the other M3 had a major engine mechanical problem resulting in bits of piston littering the road! Just wanted to say thanks to Ray from HellBM for his help leading up to the event, loaning my parts to hget the engine running and the offer for a new P/S pump during the event. Hes a good bugger! Kayne Barrie from Kayne Barrie Motorsport for also helping out with the power steering issue and the loan of parts. He was up out of bed until 1am on Monday helping us out. Another good bugger! Gavin Bellers from Hi Velocity for his work with the new S54 transplant, he worked through multiple problems and we've ended up with a good package fore the event. sh*t it was a long week, glad its over but man it was fun!

G'day, Took the old girl today for a ride to the city and to watch the sunset. I have owned her for three months, and it's an absolute pleasure driving her. She does get a little extra attention, unfortunately.

Are the parts flat? Ie no steps or shoulders? If so laser cutting would be ideal with the holes tapped afterwards I can cad it up for you so you can approach your local cutter if you want.

Scan it... what are the fault codes ? Exact terms & not "P" codes. It needs to be done with a reputable, reliable scanner and someone with a brain

I wouldn't rule out the shop screwing up and not changing the o-ring. Most likely is been on there for a long time. The top one wasn't even on. Others may disagree but imo there's no way an o-ring would go hard and brittle after just 8 months.

if you loop the hose to bypass the sensor coolant will be flowing through the throttle body = not ideal Need to either delete system all together, or do what I did on my daily, use two cut down bellhousing bolts to remove the thread, then pop them in the end of the two hoses and put a hose clamp on. Goes without saying of course deleting the system is better

Yip, heater plumbing should be fine. The flange on the rear of the head is the incoming hot water, the bottom outlet is the return.Might pay to introduce a bleed point on the hose junction to be 100% that you're not trapping any air as thats equal to the highest point in the E36 cooling system. You can eliminate the airbox temp sender by routing the hose back over itself on the throttle body, those little plastic lugs break real easy once they get a bit older. I had three fail on mine causing coolant leaks and resulting ballaches before I just ditched the circuit altogether. Can you just delete the lights entirely or do the series rules not permit that?

Problem is there isnt really anywhere for the heat to go as the board is sealed inside the actuator, plus the entire board is back to back with a 3mm aluminium cover plate so it should be losing plenty of heat through that.I think the board is only failing because the mechanical issues are causing the motor to draw a lot more current than it should, and there is only so much of that it will take! Worst case scenario is 2 new actuators every 120K or so, eventually they might get cheaper!

Running Map 1 at the moment: 13psi over the stock 8psi. The charge pipe broke away at the throttlebody end - weak point where the clip holds it.

Very nice. Hope to see it around sometime.

Just dropped off the old girl to get the VANOS unit replaced. I picked up a second hand unit a while back from a member here who imported a s50b32 for a race car with relatively low kms. Since it was a race car, he ditched the VANOS. Apparently my VANOS is stuff (according to a few experienced people who have driven it recently), which was not really noticeable to me since I never had much time (or any really) in a s50b32 with working VANOS. I was happy with the power, and power delivery, but I suppose I was just enjoying a 3.2L high comp engine. Will be interesting to see the results (if infact the vanos was pooped) and any torque increases under 4k rpm where the vanos is supposed to help will jsut be a bonus after owning the car since last year!

Not sure if this will apply to your E46, but on my E30 I always make sure to remove the fill plug before removing the drain plug just in case the fill plug is stuck. The last thing you want is to drain the box and then not be able to fill it. Just my .02 :~)

Lovely. But leave the wheels and boot spolier OEM in my opinion. Looks perfect as it is. Very nice !

Lots more done over the last week, It's now drive-line wise completed. Wiring is all here, got the missing trans/o2 loom from an SMG M3 car and it's giant.. I plugged it all in for a test fire since I was at that point, initially would only get it to crank without fuel or spark, though the pump was priming each time. Dug around and found I missed a huge connector between 2 looms and another at the same plug for the coil loom. Pretty confusing because there is so many damn looms (4) and with the SMG one there is a big bunch of stuff obviously can't plug in. So now it's all running finally, stoked. I first panicked the DME wasn't right or the adapter loom was wrong or something, luckily my own amateur mistake. Since it goes I could finally find somewhere to put this giant mess of wiring.. Engine side it's pretty tidy, There's almost nothing that goes across to the driver side. But I now possibly sacrifice having a glovebox, a compromise I don't mind living with. Can't wait to take it for a spin, hopefully in a few more weeks

I have my dad's Windom still for sale, PM if interested. But I suppose you'd prefer something smaller both in the engine and size dept.

Please ensure you tell whoever buys them they MUST use aftermarket longer wheel nuts!!!! seen too many without that now. there is a reason why this sh*t is illegal without cert
