I am not on a high horse. I just like taking the piss out of cheap bastards who want the market to come down to their level. Markets rarely come down to meet the ideas of one little person. I thought after all this time you would have figured that out.

He should see what these are going for in Germany!! Easily double what this guy sold his for (in my opinion far too cheap). Bargain this one whoever bought it. I do have a concern about owning one of these to be honest now, as so many parts are now NLA, you'd almost need a car and a spare just to keep one running in the future. Shame really. But I guess that's one way these are appreciating. I am seriously contemplating pulling the motor out of mine and putting it on an engine stand and putting a stock S54 in there and tune it to run as a CSL given I have all the tools and knowledge to do so. Blow one of these engines up and you'll never get another one now.

When I was looking for some centre caps for my Hartge wheels, I had Americans offering me insane money for what was a rough set with no centre caps. My girlfriend at the time thought I was mental dor saying no. Hence why she is an ex.

Yep, goneburger - it seemed to be well priced and immaculate (30,000kms from memory). Future fast-appreciating classic right there. Hope it stays in NZ - so many of these rare vehicles are being shipped offshore. Can't say I blame the owners/sellers, given what people in other countries will pay compared to here.

Finally got around to finished the mounts off. Engine sitting all on its own and fits pretty well, very minimal space but enough to work with. Brake booster relocation done and mounted, just need to get the ABS module mounted and then connect all the lines up. Will hopefully get the wiring finiahed and ready for fluids and start up be end of next weekend.

If you put a gun to my head i would say i prefer the V10 sound at full noise, but only at full noise, the v8 sounds much sexier at low rpm. There is no doubt in my mind the the e60/61 m5 is the better car, but if there was an e39 m5 touring that would be my pick.

BUMP. The wait is over and worth it !!! You may have seen a red M-Sport 2002 e46 on Trademe over the last few weeks, well it's now mine. Traveled up to Auckland and drove it back down to ChCh last weekend. Also managed to sell my Mazda 6, I used to live in Auckland, had the Mazda listed on Trademe for 6 months and didn't receive any phone call or messages, then I moved to Christchurch in January and was sold within 3 weeks. The car has been well looked after, I think it has been garaged its whole life as there is zero UV fade on the exterior trim, almost looks factory new. Few things need doing, AC doesn't work so hopefully a regas and not a major leak, don't think the waterpump and thermostat has been done(115,000km atm). It's got a old factory Dynavin with BMW cellphone !! but the radio doesn't work so may replace with factory business CD unit or a avin or eonon unit, unless I can fix the radio. It's NZ new and well spec'ed, rain senor, packing senors, halogen lights, Dynavin. No real modifcation plans really, maybe black grills and front csl splitters, LED tail lights would be nice but would have to be OEM, not a fan of aftermarket. I think the red is the best colour for the e46, so many silver ones around so I'm happy with that, all and all I waited about 6-7 months and was worth the wait and glad I didn't rush in to something. Better pic's to come.

Not many people agree with me, but i feel that the V10 M5 is the worst sounding M5 of the lot. Doesnt sound like a V10, just sounds ugly. Its also not much of a looker. The E39 is a fantastic looking car, and that engine/trans.... mmm.

^ its amazing you can know all this yet still have the balls to own one! sometimes.. ignorance really is bliss, until you get that repair bill of course

That's cheap again that UK car and I know exactly the one you are speaking of. There's an even more expensive one for sale and I know of two sitting in a bubble LOL. In Germany you'd be paying NZ$220,000 for something like the one just sold here. So I call this owner a bit too desperate to let it go for that sort of money. If I was investing in one however I'd buy one in Sapphire black and LHD. He should be concerned about someone smashing into it .. and it's not just NLA parts, even parts that are readily available have increased in prices by as much as 500%. Break one of those aluminium rear arms and he'll be crying just to get replacements!

^ and the exchange rate at the moment encourages selling overseas. Although my mate is reconsidering exporting his having heard about this sale!

You should have made one... you still can...

Lol its worth the $350 just to take them apart and back together again. I always used to dread manually unbolting 120+ bolts just to reseal and then put back together.

a quick bit of googling revealed he had a November special "$115.00 incl gst LEAK TEST/REGAS and minor leaks repaired/compressor oil topped up**Work carried out at your home or work." so around the 120-150 mark maybe, without parts (if required)? Give him a call. What have you got to lose... besides those foggy windows and your sweaty brow? HTH

The E60s have depreciated quite badly, they're generally around the 30k mark. I think the main reasons are their looks and maintenance costs.

You just need to know who to ask and where to look. And to get realistic about supply and demand and purchase a good deal when you see one

Those uneven surface signs crack me up! Have they seen the state of the roads in NZ??Would be easier to put "even surface" on the bits that are smooth and flat.
