2 pointsI bought my 335i last September and so far I have only done a few thousand km's in it. It has a persistent boost leak. So far I have done the following, new intercooler and piping, new vacuum hoses and checked and replaced the boost control solenoids. I have had smoke tests and vacuum tests done, the computer reset and it still persists. Now I will admit it could be the charge pipe, I have removed it and inspected it and I can't see any cracks but to be safe I have an Evolution Raceworks Charge pipe coming. I will also replace the OEM plastic diverter valves with some Forge Diverter valves. The OEM diverters are far from tight in the OEM charge pipe. With all that said I think the real culprit might be the leaking valve cover gasket. I had a conversation with a guy on the US E90 forums who went through a similar scenario and the valve cover gasket was the culprit. BTW my car is just about to hit 80,000kms; hopefully one day BMW will sort out their gasket materials. I will post an update next week with the results. I am hoping this is it so I can finally give it an MHD tune and extract all the potential the engine has.

2 pointsWhy avoid the southern suburbs like the plague? I guess you mean Eastern suburbs too... As far as Wellington goes they a more likely to have garaging or on street parking (Island Bay, Kilbirne, Lyall Bay, Miramar, Strathmore) than anywhere else. Eastern suburbs a real pita to get to/from in peak hour if you are driving. South Karori is relatively affordable and has a lot of garaging. Like wise up top of Brooklyn down far end of Mitchell street/Kowhai Park but the housing there leaves a lot to be desired, characterless 1970/80s boxes, a bit like a lot of Hamilton minus the welfare bludging bogan white trash.

1 pointAfter selling the E91 and driving the E39 for a while I felt like I needed something a bit newer again and had my sights set on a 135i coupe, looking for the perfect one to pop up. But it was always either not quite right and or a bit too expensive. Then I stumbled across this E87 130i hatchback 2010 automatic and couldn't say no to the lovely 6 cylinder engine so pulled the trigger. Picked it up completely stock and have already started the mods like new wheels (Work Japan 18x8.5), debadged and black grilles etc. Huge list of things I want to do on it but so far very happy with the car and will be replacing the E39 as my daily.

1 pointHi All, My names Ethan. I brought my E36 last year (possibly from another member) and thought it was about time to get involved!! My car is a Boston Green 325i coupe - nothing crazy done to it, just a few Msport Pieces and some style 68 wheels.. I have track aspirations, and hope to get to Manfeild sometime soon! Also keen to get involved in any events / meets / cruises. I see there's something going down this month... very keen! (will be karting along my bimmer impaired friend (see topic below) until he finds a great e30 to purchase!!) Look forward to meeting you all! (sorry about the pictures.. they seem to have a horrible green cast over them)

1 pointAnyone after a fricken mint set of these for an old E24 or E28 M535i (as got the original wheels too). Looking for $200 each but almost full tread and no cracks. Rare as rare comes Make your car standard again :-) with 70's drift handling too! 027 5432078

1 pointI have to agree with Michael. I've watched a few episodes of the grand tour and I found it to be a lot contrived. The trio were trying far to hard and the skits were way to over the top. There far more interesting content to be watched online. While I'm not really into fast fours I do enjoy watching Mighty Car Mods and particularly enjoyed the Mini turbo episodes and very much was interested in the Turbo vrs Supercharger MX5's. Interesting to see the differences in power delivery between the 2 on the Dyno and how that related to the track.

1 pointThere's so much other YouTube based content with real car enthusiast talking about and driving cars of all kinds. I don't see the point in watching either Top Gear or the Grand Tour. Nothing new or that interesting there anymore.

1 pointI'm lucky, I walk a few blocks to my office, so most of my driving is open road where I can return down to 9L per 100km on flat motorway, if I really try. Photos below, it's the standard vanilla without the Motorsport, but it suits my needs. Personally I found the MS setup very harsh, so I'm happy with my 19's and normal tyres. It also seemed to have most of the options in terms of comfort and heated/cooled seats.

1 pointWe're DD'ing the 500SE... (Or were until the bottom tank of the rad sprung a leak! Should be sorted tomorrow.) Can't be much worse on consumption? That said, we spend very little time sitting in traffic or driving around town.
-
1 pointHave you tried pirelli or continental? Or if you dont mind something a bit lower end, dont pass up falken ze912. Thats what i have front and rear on my car and they are fine for normal driving. Available in almost every size and cheapish too compared to the more performance brands but still much nicer than chinese ones.

1 point+1 - deffy get a service sorted pronto. Wow, $75/hr that's very reasonable too. Washed engine bay, no charge for degreasers etc and consumables like gloves. Now you can get along to the next cars and coffee in AKL.
-
1 pointNever seen an invoice that low for my car Would definitely aim for a service next if you don't know when it was last done.

1 pointalways good when it turns out to be something anti-climactic!

1 pointPuppies are 385mm, even with factory 20s I need to use a fine brush to get into them enough to clean!

1 point10k Routine service and the brake pads indicator has been on. Brake pads $85, rotors $532 and service. Total $1321 incl. 10l of 5w30 is $200 and genuine filter is $100 so overall pretty happy with the full amount. the laugh of the day was the office lady went to pick up the replacement rotors and couldn't lift them. They are so bloody big.

1 pointFew pictures from a few weekends ago. Dad and i took the cars out for a wee drive and got a few photos

1 pointI lived in JVille for a while and its ok, the CBD commute is best done on the train as parking post earthquakes is getting tight. I also lived in Khandallah for a while and found the tight streets and limited parking a pain. I would look at the Hutt, two rail options to town and much greater likelihood of a garage. Don't dismiss Upper Hutt either the commute is longer but again the rail option is there and its a good option. Seriously driving into the CBD is a pain in the ass. Driving into the Hutt from Upper Hutt or south is not too bad. Save your driving for the weekends.

1 pointNice. I have one of these on the wish list for next car - thinking blue with 6 speed manual.
-
1 pointQuite a difference eh steve on E40 vs 98 maps, just wait till you run the E60 OTS/custom map - that TQ curve I got the kit a few months ago from Fuel -IT as well , pretty bummed out the new flex fuel system on the MHD side uses another ethanol sensor - apparently the fuel-it won't work with the kit Just bear in mind on the 335i - you can run 30/40 mix with the stock LPFP (low pressure fuel pump) - if you want to run more on the stock turbos/upgraded turbos , you will need to get at least a stage2 LPFP from Fuel-it

1 pointIf you want a garage, youre looking at outer suburbs straight away. The commute from LH to Welly CBD is a killer in rush hour if you drive. Everything is expensive, but tends to get cheaper the further away from the CBD you are.

1 pointI think the best safety comes from a car that AVOIDS the accident to start with. An E39 will out handle and out manouver a vast majority of tall 4WDs, and is far less likely to tip over etc. After that, is where the safety of the structure comes into play. If I was going to crash into a deformable barrier with a 40% overlap at 64km/h (designed to replicate me hitting another car of the same weight, both travelling at 50 km/h), the Swift would be a great place to be. Real life data (from Palazzo's post above) from Australia suggests the E39 is a much safer place to be in real life . 5 stars vs 2 stars. If I was going to crash the right front corner into a concrete bridge abuttment at 80km/h, spin 360degrees and then also hit the oncoming car who was on the bridge with nowhere to go, I'd much prefer the E39. That's what my wife did: Her face had hit the steering wheel fracturing her skull in a number of places and knocking out a tooth, the ignition key was IN her right knee, her left knee had some dashboard in it. She required extraction from the vehicle. She was in a P10 Primera, which did FAR better than you'd expect, after 2 massive impacts. The front right wheel was roughly where the drivers seat started, the front corner of the car pushed back to where the base of the windscreen should have been. Weirdly - the passenger side looked almost fine - the front gaurd was on a slight angle! I'd like to see a Swift and an E39 AFTER hitting a concrete bridge and THEN doing the crash test Airbags only work once...

1 pointThat's a fair few escaped horses. Sounds like the 2 hub dyno runs were done in dissimilar environments. Roller dynos always seem to read lower than hubs.
-
1 pointWatching with interest. My car seems to be going down in power. first hub dyno at 48,000 km saw 230kw at hubs. Car was one of the quicker M3s I'd tried going by butt dyno at time of purchase . Second Hub dyno at 90,000km saw 210kw at hubs Third roller dyno engine run at 122,000 saw 183kw at tyres (Running Mobil blended 98 which causes pinking on the M3) Running SMG so thinking about csl software for subframe longevity and restoring power.

1 pointAwesome, will be following this. The price of those S8 are coming down steadily, and they are a lot of car, tech and power for the money.
