People who have decided to settle for the straight six always drag out the old steering comparison!! It's not enough of a difference to ruin the V8 ownership experience, the noise and the torque more than make up for it, the fuel bills however......

Had to be an 8 for me in the end....picked up this one last night. Not a motorsport but much too tidy to walk away from. https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1416212371

Decided to settle for?!?! Mate, I prefer the straight six It's one of those things, you have to test drive both as they are quite different and so you have to find which suits you better. We can probably all agree the 535i V8 is crap tho

A little update, still on the hunt for a carrier..... In the meantime received the remainder of my throttle body adapters thanks to Jethro @ RML engineering.. Got some stainless rivnuts to secure things around my car instead of the alloy ones which tend to not work to well, and its a nice weekend by the looks of things so might get some more things done!

Interior, Idrive was a step backwards far too complicated, now it's dated and annoying to use. The dash board center console is exceptionally boring, has no flow into the lower console, and the design and the door cards as they droop down doesn't add to a positive ambiance, they give off a rather depressing vibe. The E39 interior is such a nicer place to be, it's like it was designed by people that cared about what they were doing, E60 more so a quick coffee break design.

You drive an E28. The exception that proves the rule.

And people blame the government for the country's depression and suicide problems. Get off ya f**kin phone / facebook and go play outside.

All and and dusted till the next time! I have bushings and link arms to go next week. Wheels and tyres happen about the same time, then an alignment. I have a valve cover to replace and a vanos to rebuild, a fuel filter to replace and a transmission gasket to replace. ?

A rare classic parked in Wellingtons CBD. Had a quick chat to the owner and this is one pristine example. Owner didn't say out right but hinted that it has had a full no expense resto. And man did it sound sweeeeet! 1971 Holden Monaro GTS (genuine too!):

Got my V2 Monaro back today after having some of the interior redone. It took a while but I am stoked! For example the drivers seat has gone from this: To this: Also reinstalled the rear seats today and I do have to say I'm impressed on just how good it looks!

think he was more referring to FB likes but your missing the point. your too old to be affected as like me you have a natural cynicism and were brought up differently If you can't see it happening around you,at any restaurant, childrens playground or just shopping your blind, the way it is affecting young minds in their formative years will be completely irreversible, its quite sad swimming lessons the other night with grandson, they all swim a length, and look up, I give the thumbs up he was so desperately looking for the rest of the bench was playing angry birds or whatever, F&$king adults are arseholes, they will pay when that kid becomes a teenager and doesn't give a rats ass about them or has depression issues

So when's the standard E46 M3s going up in price ? Prices tanked in the last couple of yeas. E30 M325i money ?

Dropped off their 116i loaner because it got about 2000km past it's service indicator and swapped it with an E46 318ti hatch. Interesting ugly little thing, quite nimble and feels quicker than you'd expect, quite fun to drive actually, feels like a go-cart, more so than the regular E46 models Ugly like art only in the eyes of the beholder. If you feel the 318ti is nimble and quick you don't know what you are missing hit the go pedal when it has a b25 or b30 fitted then the fun really begins

Agree with you on this one Michael. Without any bias too...

It is. Take the path less trodden, that sort of thing. I was 18 when I bought my first Mercedes. A particularly ratty 1960s 4-door with a 4.5 V8 and 4-speed manual gearbox. (Turns out it was a bitsa - Mercedes never made a car in that spec.) It may have needed bump-starting more than was reasonable, but when your mates have a Mini Metro or something similarly crap and you can throw a Merc keyring on the table, people pay attention! Back on topic (sorta) - when we go on hols I have my phone with me. Switched off. If you want to sleep better, turn your mobile off before going to bed. Don't put it on silent - off. Your brain knows it'll not ring and can actually relax. It's nice to get away from technology.

I can give a cost indication - re-colour per seat was $230ea. As for the cost of repairs, I'm not so sure as I paid one amount for all his work (seat incl removal & re-install, headliner, a-pillars, gear boot) which came to a little bit more than what you've been quoted for one seat. He mainly does work for dealers/car yards and I had a bit of a wait for mine to be done.

I'll take that as a compliment. To back you up, I don't know anyone else my age driving an E28 (especially not a *cough* grandpa *cough* spec one)

Some of his videos showing the quirks of quirky cars are pretty good. Also the one slaying the Maserati makes me pitty everyone I see driving one.

The 540 has aluminium suspension components I love 540s. I don't find the steering an issue personally as they're not exactly a proper sport car I want to get another 540 in the future but only want a manual one

Blah i wish mate, me and coffee are great mates ! Had a customer of sorts the ring and asked if i got his email of 2 weeks, i replied yes and when i get a chance ill configure all you need for your setup. His reply " but i need it now and you could potentially get a turbo sale from it" Potentially ? I asked, so he got told how it was. I've got well over 400 messages on my FB page to which i answered 100 of them one night ( they keep growing ) till 2 am and over the next week 5 people replied....so i may potentially get a sale from you? He changed his tune.
