3 pointsPeople trying to go off on their tangent please stick to the list you are welcome to make your own poll. This statistic is already very interesting for me. Very few votes for e46 despite everyone saying its going to be a classic. And suprisingly e39 ahead by a mile. Also the 1m is a suprise despite a lot of people disregarding it as not being a true M car. Edit: i just realised i put other/comment as an option so i guess i cant be complaining. Oh well

3 pointsI am disappointed Dave that you take the words of a Repco employee over that of a Castrol technical engineer. But oh well like you said no need to get worked up over oil!
-
2 pointsAs the title says, Castrol edge 5w30 is $45.49 for 5litres at the moment https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/castrol-castrol-edge-engine-oil---5w-30-5-litre/299206.html?cgid=catalogue-onsale#segment=1&page=1 They seem to do this once a year, and I stock up. I don't work for Supacheap.

2 pointsHas to be the e39 M5 for me. Sold the first one and sulked until I found another.

2 pointsAnd here’s for the doubters like Dave Data Spec from Castrol Castrol Edge Titanium FST SN (not BMW M approved) the one used to be sold by Repco and the only 10w-60 available via retail until recently. The famous or should that be infamous Castrol edge TWS (aka TWS Professional) approved by BMW M and used by BMW dealerships until they cancelled their contract with Castrol. And the Castrol Edge Titanium FST Supercar - aka the newly branded TWS edge professional - approved by BMW M, but no longer sold through the dealerships As you can see identical spec to the TWS Edge Professional. And for those that still say don’t get worked up over oil, I am off to pick up a drum of fish and chips oils from my local fish and chip shop, I will happily do an oil change with this stuff for anyone with a BMW M motor - no guarantees however your motor won’t go boom!

2 pointsX3 suffers from what I call "Boxter syndrome" ie it says to everyone you couldn't afford the marque's better model.
-
2 pointsBetter flash the cash if you really want one. There are only a handful of really good ones left and of the two owners i know, the phrase ‘from my cold dead hands’ comes to mind.

1 pointHi all, Since I've been browsing here for info I better sign up and introduce myself/my car. It's the second BMW I've owned, my last car was a 2007 e90 325i M-Sport in Le Mans Blue. I looked for a new car for 6 months, wanted a 335i coupe but drove a 130i and was immediately sold, reminded me of my old 3.2 A3 which I loved and funnily enough my old Celica. The handling and power was so much fun I immediately switched to looking for LCI 130i and found this one. It's an e81 130i M-Sport with pretty low kms and a beige leather interior that looks way better in person ;D Super comfy and a hoot to drive. There has been a couple of things done to it, wheels and tyres replaced by what I understand is the newer 1 series models wheels and 245/45 non run flat tyres fitted. Its also got a Supersprint back box, sounds fantastic when you boot it. Got some things I want to do with it so will be a WIP for a bit.

1 pointHi All, New member to bimmersport and currently own a E91 325i M-Sport. Love the car but would like a bit more sound from the engine and I am in the search for a REMUS exhaust (used or new) or if anyone else has similar recommendations? I am also after smoked rear tail lights (as per pic). It seems BMW manufactured two different styles and I have the red/orange/white where I prefer the smoked look as it would go nicely with my black e91. Thanks guys!

1 pointE34 and E39 have always been the perfect size for me for an all rounder. Modern BMW's are just getting way too bloated for my tastes, the CEO parked his G30 M5 near my E39 the other day and that thing is monstrous.
-
1 pointThe older M3's are all fun but I think once you grow up M5 is the only option. I couldn't consider a 3 Series again until all the kids have left home.
-
1 pointThey would... you'd get told "Bro, your bike's wheels look gay!".
-
1 pointHappened to see two i3s yesterday. I knew the tyres were skinny, but I didn’t realise that were THAT skinny. You could swap them with bicycle tyres and nobody would be able to tell the difference
-
1 pointFair enough. I am happy with HPR5, will stick with it until I run out and come hassle you for your discount.
-
1 pointHPR5 very good oil and good price. Meets bmw ll01 standard and it probably doesnt burn as much as edge. I use edge because im used to it and it hasnt caused any problems for me. Confirm and let me know and i can find out! Comes in boxes of 3 bottles usually which isnt a problem for bmw guys. It does 2 changes and top ups

1 pointI like the X3 but I'm a huge fan of the X5! Would jump at the chance to own a manual one but seems they are more common in the diesels. I don't have the kahunas for a diesel. Yet ? Enjoyed the manual X3 for 3 years and found it a capable round town hack. But nothing spectacular. The X5 was a great long distance cruiser and ate the miles with no problems! Would only get another X3 for a fishing slash dog wagon ?. But I wont be... haha

1 pointStill not over the M5 and it’s coming up 6 years of ownership. Wouldn’t mind having a drive of the current M3/M4 to help convince myself new cars are great.

1 pointFYI M cars were around before the 90's Wouldn't mind a E34 M5, not crazily priced but are heading there, hard to find though. Problem is everyone is holding on to these older looked after cars for good reason (applies to all good models)
-
1 pointThere’s been some great adoptions made from the Haldex idea too. The AYC in the mid 90’s onwards mitsu evo’s was one of my favs

1 pointNo, but have you seen how narrow the tyres are? Its a bit concerning that a car that cost north of $70k a few years ago is now uneconomic to repair because of fairly minor damage. I wonder how long it will take the insurers to catch on and bump the premiums accordingly?
-
1 pointThose prices wouldn't surprise me, BMW NZ seems to have some horrific parts pricing compared to the rest of the world. Its been cheaper for me to buy everything for my E36 from overseas, including freight (and GST if pinged), than to buy half of it locally. Its very disappointing.

1 pointHey guys I have landed here a few times looking for info so I thought I would sign up. I'm currently restoring a 1969 manual E3 2500. This is my first BMW and I am quite fond of it. Cheers!
-
1 pointill say it again but the F20 is a bloody good platform in my opinion. it drives and feels like the old e46 in terms of size because the new 3 series is just too big. Also, comfort access is awesome and fuel economy on the 116 is amazing at 7.5L/100km for me at the moment.
-
1 pointWelcome to the forum. Long story short, I would avoid the 116i E87 model completely. 2009 - $10k??? expensive as hell. why? because stupid low kms that are just unrealistic. car probably sat around doing nothing. not good. 2007 - bit better at 7.5k but still, unrealistic kms for a 10+ year old car. BUT the big problem with the E87 model is the 1.6L 4 cylinder engine is just known to be unrealiable. will cost huge money to fix eventually so I would avoid. I personally have a 2012 116i F20, bought it for $12k with 100,000kms on it but hasnt given me any issues at all and we have done 10k kms on it so far. Oil service costs about $150, I do it every 8000kms. These models are not without it's problem also but I think they are generally much better and you get a much nicer/newer car with a lot of good features. Obviously it costs more but I think its worth it. Look for a F20 116i for around 14-16k (lower mileage examples say around 50-70,000 kms) and look for one that has the options you want.

1 pointHey guys, 2kcup competitor here. I’ve been running the only ever Lancer to compete in 2KCup, but have just picked up an E36 323i that I’m building up for next season. Was an auto, but Ray at HellBM has already done a great job fixing that!

1 pointHi guys, I brought the Z3M to keep my 1M company having recently sold my Audi’s, RR ur quattro and B5 RS4... I owned an older version of the Z3M in Blue before I brought the quattro. Looking forward to another Z3M ...

1 pointHey all, new to the BMW community with the purchase of this 02 530i So far everything that's needed to be done maintenance wise has been done by the previous owner however there is a little bit of exterior cosmetic damage which will be an easy fix (there's an 02 528i in the orient blue metallic at pickapart that is in pretty good exterior condition that I'll go take panels off soon)... Currently on my list of things to do include: Retrofitting RF Locking system (currently Jap IR Key) New head unit (and sound system) LED Angel lights and fogs New wheels or recondition current ones Possible repaint in San Marino Blue next year

1 pointWell I bit the bullet and purchased an RHD flywheel. Arrived on my doorstep in 3 days, machine work looks excellent and was well packaged. I bought the heavy duty version that bolts up to m54 directly, using an m30 based clutch. Sterling auto& clutch will have my clutch ready for pickup tomorrow. Aiming to install in Jan once all the other parts arrive. Will update further then Thanks to all who offered advise
