First small job was to sort out the godawful (in my opinion) tail lights, I've also replaced the black BMW badge prior to the photo's below.

Jacinda wouldn't just lie, would she?? Surely some mistake?

It's loud, not sure I'll be keeping it. The car came with it's original mufflers. Yep sold both the V70R and the S60R to the same guy, or should I say the father brought the V and his son brought the S.

Decided it was finally time to realize a childhood dream and get myself a V10 M5, the E39 M5 is still very much a car I'd love to own but that can wait for now. I'd been on the fence for some time but I'd been watching M539 Restorations videos on the tube and his recent videos of his E60 M5 got me thinking to the point where I'm posting this thread. 2008 BMW M5 (2006 build) 102000km at purchase Initial goals with the car is to give the car a big birthday, service all the fluids and replacing it's tired brakes. Next step will be bringing the car back to a factory look with standard wheels and removal of BLAAAACK additions.

I don’t think lying through her teeth is possible.

G'dday, new member here who's taken the E60 M5 plunge just recently. The car is a 2008 BMW M5 and my focus will be bringing the car back to a factory look removing all of the BLACKKK stuff the previous owner/s have done.

Arrhh, so it's the Alpina drivers that are giving the rest of us BMW owners the bad rap on poor parking skills.

Yep, well ahead of you. Gonna do it with a personalized plate (euro style).

Euro number plate trim for the bootlid is a simple job. +1 love that interior as well, great combo!

Hey Everyone So we picked up this lovely 2006 E325i in the weekend (To replace a car that will be in the garage for who knows how long) .. We kinda brought it as a temp car with the thought of selling it again once we get the other back.. however... have come to LOVE how it drives.. so might need to hold onto it :D However I have some issues/questions regarding it. Hopefully someone might be able to help or put me in the right direction. :) 1) No Audio at all.. be it from the Radio.. or leaving the Key in.. or leaving the lights on.. or anything at all. From my searches I can see it's possibly because there looks to have been an old satnav? unit or something in the boot that has some spare connectors/cables hanging out.. and one of them possibly needs a "fiber optic loop bypass" connected to it? 2) Only have 1 key.. what is the best (cheapest) option in getting another one ? 3) Is there anything we can do in the Display re Navigation/TV etc etc etc? (I might be dreaming, but would be cool to have some sort of Android conversion :D) 4) Is there anything else nz specific/ex jap things that we need to look out for or can improve? Most the things I have read seem to be US specific which is not much help. 5) What are most people doing for spare tyres/space savers etc.. ?? (First time owning a car without one) Thanks heaps ! Oh and of course.. some pics :)

I know of an exceptional 330ci the owner would be willing to trade (plus Kidney) for an E30 / E28 🤣 Seriously though, a nice F20 would be a great daily.

Well, she hasn't recited it. There is a difference between an EV (Ardern's claim) and a mild hybrid (Toyota's planned Hilux). The Hilux wont be eligible for a subsidy, and will retain its original ORC, providing it comes to market. She has at best, stretched the truth regarding Toyotas press release in an attempt to smooth the pushback from the public over this tax grab/subsidy. If not she has misrepresented info from Toyota in which case someone in that position shouldn't be spreading 'misinformation' and further confusing the public (transparency and all that). The fact that Toyota CEO publicly refuted her claim should be enough to put to rest, but it seems her faithfuls are always there to go into bat for her. But lets be honest, she has quite the record of lying so on the back of no new taxes (apart from the 39% top tax rate) promise in the 2020 election campaign, whats another lie or broken promise to add to the telly.

Yip. Surely they'd be good buggers and throw in a set of caps. However i recently bought a set of 15" caps and was told the amount left in stock internationally was very little..

The car's had an engine replacement in 2018 by the previous owner, have receipts from BM Workshop for some un-godly number. The replacement engine has the big stuff done.

Castrol R is Straight 30. I use it in my 4 stroke lawnmower. It makes mowing the lawn a real pleasure....

That's a start, but the true nuances of the aroma of Castrol R can only be fully appreciated when incinerated under high compression and expelled through a megaphone exhaust. Maybe try adding a little to your weed wacker fuel ? That's about as near as I will get Cheers...

I spy an Eisenmann exhaust, that’s gotta sound awesome!

But what kind of dumb f**kery is this? I can only find 2 of my 4. Which is really really annoying. Haha.

215XXXkms Car was feeling a bit sluggish and had a bit of a rough idle that didn’t feel very BMW (esp with new engine mounts) and it had a delayed throttle response. All liveable but had a feeling something wasn’t quite right. Scanned it and it came up with - Current at 2 or more cylinders and all these DME cylinder activation codes + a misfire code on cylinder 3. did some googling and found a thread about the same codes on E46 fanatics. Seemed 1 person swapped new coils which fixed it, others mentioned an issue where the older M54 head with the newer style valve cover can have the coils ground to the head giving the ground wire resistor in the loom a weird reading in turn pinging a code. ( I have older style block/head with my original engines intake mani/valve cover/ignition system) long story short they recommended running coils from the newer engines as they are insulated all the way to the bottom. old and new: I found these on FB market place out of an N54 and the guy reckoned they were running fine so as a bit of cheap test I went for it. Long story long, they work great. No codes. Throttle feels more responsive and the idle is smooth and the engine feels freer. This might all be placebo but posting this up incase anyone else has got the same codes after an engine swap. in other news I also swapped the grilles back to chrome as those double slotted ones interfered with the bonnet leaver meaning the grill would kinda pop out when you opened the hood which felt abit ghetto when filling up the washer system at the petrol station.

I think a Honda Elite scooter from the 1980's has been missing since a collision with this car. [Image linked from Wikipedia under CC SA 3.0] That front bumper - at least in its current state on that car, at this time, is dugly.

@Wade13 These photos show the drivers and passengers side respectively. The rust appears to be isolated to the sun roof roof part. it is not visible from above, if you’d only cranked the roof away rather then pushed the back up you’d never know it was there. there do not appear to be any Staines in the roof lining indicating water ingress in that region.

Factory Clubsport spoiler is a little controversial - quite ‘aftermarket’ looking. this is a better angle.

Finally have managed to complete I guess this car to a point where I'll take a wee rest... Replacement bumpers and bootlid now on. Did my own painting, sanding, cutting and polishing with a pretty OK result in the end... Remade "BMW582" has gone on and the all important "M" badge 😲 to complete the (now) NZ new type look. Just an annoying oil leak remains which I fear is the driver side top chain cover which I don't think is a small job. It may have to wait a little....

I would say so. I have read nothing of them being produced in RHD. And it's highly unlikely Ford would bother with NZ/Aus as you said. NZ is going to become incredibly expensive in the next 10 years. Even more so than it already is.
