S O L D Inbound back to Auckland. The best part of owning this car was the interaction with other E39/BMW owners, thanks to everyone who helped me source parts and helped me trying to diagnose issues. What a trip it’s been. Sold to a non bimmersporter, but hopefully it’s gone to a good home.

It’s a horror show at ACBMW- if they make a mistake they just cover it up and blame anybody other than themselves. Breathtaking arrogance

Apparently $100k spent. Custom interior and bodywork, M30B35 Turbo, LSD, made to order BBS wheels etc Odd that it hasn't been certed.

Righto! Was a busy last week and many a late night to get things over the line yet again! After getting the engine in I was able to figure out what parts I needed to replace or was missing, so did another order with fcp for a new cooling system and driveshaft coupler, and after a couple trips to the wreckers to find the right power steering pump and lines and a front section of exhaust. so while waiting for that to arrive, I removed the radio and redundant wiring, relocated the battery to behind the drivers seat, made a switch panel where the radio was, and using the old radio switched supply to wire up the fuel pump and electric clutch for the blower. Also swapped the cigarette/12v socket for a twin USB switched from the dash since its not switched off the key, stripped some more interior and setup the body mounted shifter. At this point I was able to start the engine, which fired up no probs so that was a relief all that was sorted, just waiting on parts to finish it, which were due on Thursday, with the exhaust booked for Saturday, and autocross on Sunday. So Thursday came and went and parts didn’t show, even tho fedex tracker had shown them in Dunedin depot by 7am Wednesday. Waited till 10.30 and no update on delivery time. So chased them up and was found with post haste to deliver, and would call Me back about it. Didn’t get a call so rang them direct at 3pm and sure enough was still sitting there yet to be picked up and dropped off. So said can that, I’ll grab them in half n hour and shot down to get it. next dilemma I was home alone for the evening with the little fella, so by the time I got him sorted and asleep it was about 8.30pm before it was safe to go down to the garage. So by 1am had water pump, thermostat, idlers, belt, radiator assembled, in and filled, driveshaft coupler on and driveshaft in, exhaust section on and tried to jam some gauze in it and wired in place to keep the noise down. so was a quick coolant bleed at 7.30am then drove to magoos in the morning. The gauze blew out at the bottom of my street so was a very loud trip, luckily was mostly all down hill, so coasted a lot of the way. Picked the car up after lunch with its new pipes and just a rear acs/remus rear box on it. Sounds pretty good I must say! Even if a little loud. Noticed on the way home it was running on 5, and found it had dropped the no.6 cylinder. So pulled the coil out to find a heap of water in there, and no. 5, so sucked that out and checked the rest and plugs then reassembled and tried again and all good. Other thing I had to sort was the front exhaust mount and a snapped manifold to exhaust bolt on each flange. So drilled them out and put a nut and bolt through to hold for the time being. Race day Sunday, so drove it 90odd kms down to Balclutha, did my four runs then drove back home. With no issues. Was a bit worried about over heating having no radiator fans at all, but was good. Just ran the heater for a bit and kept the bonnet open. Was a windy day too so parked into the wind to help as well. Only turned the blower on for one run once the track dried out but was a bit much and just no traction at all with still the single pegger, but was fun none the less! Doesn’t seem to like the on/off throttle use much and splutters a bit, and tune is pretty rich, so will get it on a dyno and get that tickled up, but all in all is a fun drive! Will upload some pics later tomorrow. Forgot to take any of the Complete installation.

This has got to be it, surely lol Just bought another lot of filler, etch and high build primer today. I am highly ineffective at this, but committed to see it through Had measurement calipers out, and even a dotted line to guide, starting to figure out there's no other way to do it some earlier shits of how fobar she was

Serviced everything down to a new waterpump, still got to research how to change fluid on the CVT, but Seri graphics did a slick job. Things actually pretty fun to drive. Its slow as sh*t but it actually grips fairly well, and the TRD exhaust sounds hilarious once VTEC kicks in yo (even got a pop!) and the CVT paddle shifters nearly behave like a DSG

I followed the auction for it on TM 3 year back when the original builder couldn't get a cert. It eventually was put up for $1 Reserve and went for $13k.

Looks ok. Met reserve. Currently just under $10k. But I bet it will get silly towards the end. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2845720085?tm=email&et=45&mt=79F4475F-6C8D-4859-8EC2-79132A4FA124&bof=y9PaWdCs

old owner of this vehicle ran into some personal issues. I won't go into detail but he sold it cheap to pay off some debts and never got around to certing it. It has had extensive fabrication on the rear guards etc to fit those wheels and was painted and put into storage. I struggle to see why it wouldn't get a cert as I had a very close look at it whilst it was being painted. It will probably need some minor things. Such a shame. The old owner did spent a sh*t tonne of money on it.

Totally agree, very odd to pump so much money into something and not cert - obviously needs plenty more spent to get it finished.
  22. 1 point
Id agree with this, to me it doesnt make sense if you have spent $100k why wouldnt you spend the extra 1% to get a cert plate and then its legal and able to be sold in theory easier

have black interior parts car here is you want to swap around parts etc
  24. 1 point
Pretty unlikely to get what you're after for less than 10k, unless you go for an automatic. Even then you'll still want a grand or two to fix any issues or at the very minimum to buy a scan tool to go with the car. Which will save you time/money fixing issues.

yeah - $25k for a non-certed uber-modified unfinished e30 4-door. On this occasion I'd need to say "better your money than mine". Any certifier is going to be calling for a sh#t-ton of work before that gets a plate (or insurance).

@leichtbau They sold for $1100... And I only realized this morning when I went to place a bid that two of the wheels are missing their bolts.

Love their comments on the SUVs haha. They blasted the F80 for being spiky/unpredictable.. pity they didn't seem to realise that was massively improved in software updates that were even available for the early models. I guess BMW should take the blame for keeping so quiet about it though, I had to specifically ask and pay to get mine updated.

to be fair, I'm not sure I'd be trusting VTNZ to even judge or correctly measure tint value/visible light transmission. Take it back to AC BMW for the WoF! They WoF'd it first time. Problem solved. And you can speak - face to face - with their sales manager. I'd be disappointed too. Though I'd get it resolved to my satisfaction. Let us know how you get on.
