I think some of you might be missing that M3AN doesn't actually care other than for curiosity and adding value to the community through shared information. I think he was alluding to there being no point to keeping the valuation secret. Of course you are entitled to keep you information secret for whatever reason, valid, rational or not. Paying for a valuation doesn't create a privacy issue by the way.

Saw a nice F11 wagon pop up and thought it might be a good modern replacement for our family wagon. Just putting this up here if anyone is looking for a nice E61 touring. Wont be going on trademe unless I decide to seriously sell it but it depends if the F11 wagon stays available long enough. 2009 530i E61 LCI M Sport Space Grey Metallic N52b30 straight 6 engine 3L NA Automatic with the newer shifter style 164,xxx kms Black leather interior with heated seats Panoramic sunroof with drainage hole issue and tailgate wiring issue all sorted also Engine oil and filter service done recently Trans fluid service done (BM Workshop receipt included) Engine mounts (left + right), trans mounts, oil pan gasket, drive belt idler pulley, belt tensioner, serpentine belt, valve cover gasket, valvetronic gasket, cam cover gasket all done. Tinted windows all round Towbar (detachable hook style) Very well optioned example being LCI has the LED taillights etc It does have some minor cosmetic marks on the outside, interior very tidy and mechanically runs well Michelin PS4 tyres on the front plenty of tread left, rears are nothing special Roofbars not included Would be happy to hear thoughts on what it would be worth. Hard to price it because its probably one of the better ones compared to the ones I see for sale but it also has done a bit more kms than most.

A long time between updates, but the wheels have been turning slowly in the background with a lot of time spent designing the new dry sump oil pan and thinking things through now that the engine is mounted in the car on its proper engine mounts. Will need to get the trans mount sorted next but its going to be a funky design to allow the left side headers to have maximum clearance under the car. Only other bits completed are installation of the electronic throttle pedal instead of stock cable one which included: confirming the BMW throttle pedal is 'sensor compatible' with the Nissan ECU (yay !!!) and removing the auto pedal kickdown cam thingy. Also started laying out some fuel system bits which have been sitting in a box for ages as I need to convert the VQ to a return style system which basically involves a '4 way tap' fitting replacing the factory damper then installing an external regulator which will maintain set pressure and drain excess back to the tank. Oil pan is looking really good ... just have to confirm the exact hole locations, add in an additional scavenge port which I was not going to use originally and confirm some clearances on the car then can submit to have manufactured via an amazing service from https://www.3dhubs.com So I got a used four stage dry sump pump (with oil / air seperator) also which will need to be changed from a left to right hand mount. There is quite a bit of work and expense in getting the oiling system under control which is a bummer but should ultimately be a really good solution. May need to sell a kidney once I organise fittings, hoses, reservoir, breather, vacuum regulator etc etc etc A couple of snaps checking the dry sump design for clearance around the crank / rods as well as externally between the steering rack and subframe etc.

Sam can talk to the experts at Autolign about my advice, that's where I got it from after all, and it's proven to be spot on. Those exact (not random) settings work fine on an E36 and an E87 with different geometries, if they're not suitable for an E46 then the guys at Autolign will point that out. If you know better then do your theoretical calculations and throw down some numbers, otherwise you're not really helping to progress the discussion. FWIW @Sammo I had 3 different alignments on my M3, OEM settings (toe in F/R), 0 toe F/R, and then finally toe out (F) and toe in (R) and the differences were appreciable. I also have perfectly normal tyre wear with the suggestion I made above.

My friend's mum has a super tidy E36 318is that she will be selling soon so wondering if anyone can give a price indication please? It is a 1998 sedan in Mint Green, automatic, NZ new, only done 68,000kms, all the M bodykit, leather interior and she has owned it from new (literally one lady owner). It is very tidy inside and out. Only flaw is the paint is coming off the rim of some wheels. She's not sure of what she could get for it so we'd appreciate any perspective.

Shoot. Caught up on this thread. I was pre-occupied reading through the 130i thread wishing I could join that club. The fact of the matter is, you probably will find out, there really is no secret. I just chose to reach out to the OP. The value of my personal car is absolutely none of your business.

Hi, I’m looking for a set of staggered style 68 wheels. The ones that came on E46 Msport models. 7.5 front and 8.5 Rear - ideally in Wellington - ideally in mint condition. Any one have a set collecting dust they would like to move on? prefer without tyres but interested either way.

A small amount of toe out at the front for turn-in, stability compensation provided by a comparable (50%-100%) amount of toe-in at the rear. We're talking tiny margins here, ~0.6mm front and ~0.4mm rear. Edit: this will result in a marginal increase of on-the-limit mid-corner understeer, hardly a problem in most circumstances.

Okay, so you want aftermarket M3 front guards for a non-M3 e46 sedan?

The E46 is much easier and cheaper to maintain and generally more reliable. The E90 is a bit more comfortable and safer. Being mechanically capable, you can pretty much DIY everything on an E46. Repairs on the E90 is much more difficult with lots of complexities with electronic systems and expensive parts. E.g Electric Water pump, vanos solenoids or ledge seals, sump gaskets. Even the washer pump on the E90 is difficult to replace! Also, general maintenance is more expensive as well as the E90 requires a runflat tyres, BMW battery + Coding the IBS I've owned plenty of both...and I have sold all my E90 and E92s and gone back to older models.

If you haven’t already, check out M539 Restorations on Youtube. His series on Project Cologne may get you more inspired about an E46 325i 😁. I doubt many would go to his level just for a daily driver. Well @Olaf maybe 😎! Seriously though, Olaf does know what he is talking about when it comes to E46 (and E30)! Welcome and good luck.

Imagine you've just paid cash money for a valuation, there may be some privacy issues. You might also have style and prefer not to brag your car's worth around a forum for every tom, Dick, and harry to see, yet are prepared to quietly share info with those 'in the club', so to speak. You might not want to invite a round of "but they're just not worth that, has the market gone made, oh more money than sense, oh I'd never pay that, oh Covid's done that to the market, oh rich fat cats" as per, oh, "the e30 market"? In case you can't imagine why you'd not blurt it out.

Destined for the garage and the occasional cars and coffee so the boring owner can get off on strangers saying "Wow it's so original".
