Interesting day, drove down to Wellington to catch the ferry...... Stopped in Marton at Bridgestone as I needed two new tires, thanks NZTA for your amazing road maintenance. Right up until that point the trip to Christchurch was going great. So the car yard gets some new rubber on the trade in, never mind - chalk it up to a great story once I have collected the wagon and drowned my sorrows. One trip over the cook straight and then on to Christchurch for pickup this afternoon. I'll be very happy if the rest of the trip is uneventful.

Just a heads up for the return trip, the M5 needs 98 octane and only has a 65 litre tank, so fill it every time you see a BP with blue nozzles at the pumps!!

They actually sound a bit like spaceships at low speed since they have to emit some noise for pedestrian safety lol

This came about fairly quickly but I have just signed the paperwork to trade our X5 in on a new Audi E-Tron A couple of firsts there for me: * First Electric * First Audi * First time paying more than $100k for a car lol As much as I love the grunt and power of a V8 it's becoming increasingly difficult to deal with BMW's apparent lack of ability to build decent V8s. The introduction of an emissions tax Clean Car Programme next year will also make V8s even more expensive to buy. I'll bring the 'tron to the next meet up

Hi, I'm about to pull the trigger an E61 M5 that has been through a couple of Bimmersport owners in the past. Currently sorting out the PPI. With any luck there are no significant issues and in 5 days I will be in Christchurch to take delivery. I'll post updated pics if I take delivery. Until then fingers crossed all goes smoothly. Cheers.

Has 65 Litre tank, but feels like 45 Litre tank 🤣

IMHO yours must be $25k and up, it's very well-sorted (whereas most of the other M5x conversions been up for sale recently are 'half finished'.). If yours is certed, and as tidy (as it surely is), why wouldn't you be looking for more than 325i manual pricing? You'd barely be able to build it for $20K.

I went with Star with an agreed value policy and found them great to deal with. As I have a few mods on my car and an expensive set of apex wheels my valuation exceeded their valuation initially but I sent photos and a description to Star’s approved valuer in Christchurch who came back with a satisfactory valuation and job done. Star’s premiums are competitive and service great so far.

Yea my insurance company is agreed value but the value part is the bit I'm struggling with.

I went with Star Insurance who gave no grief about the agreed value: AMI wanted formal valuation and AA weren’t keen without the same. No idea if Star are okay on claims front but was a piece of cake online to sign up after getting a quote.

Yeah, I got it for close to asking price and although seems to be an honest car so far, it needs a bit of loving. @Cammsport let me know who you go with as need to insure mine as well.

You may think that the tyres are fine.... once upon a time I had 2 Metros, one on old Michelin Xs and one on Continentals (both euro spec, in the UK). The difference in the dry around a mini roundabout was 20 mph faster on the Continentals. Don't ever think that a cheap tyre is "OK". You'll only find out when you really, really need the grip.

Yours has to be close to $20k? Only 24v E30 I've seen in ages was the white one Ghost Chip bought but I think that was a little more of a project car?

Looks like i should be able to get at least $20k for my E30 vert, after reading this hahahaha

Did anyone see what the 24v E30s sold for over the past 6 or so months? I lost track of them. Can anyone recommend a good valuer for insurance purposes? I have no clue as to what mine is worth. TM prices are all over the show and I dunno what's actually selling.

18x9.5 or 18x10 square setup has been the go-to on E46 M3's for a while now. As Harper alluded to, massive increase in turn in and the centre of rotation is pushed forward,.
