My point is more that a cert is definitely required (you dont even need to check with NZTA, other users have done it for you) and if you sell it claiming it isnt, then the buyer is well within their rights to have you up for misrepresenting the car.
-
Gl with the sale, the TM photos are far more flattering than the original ones here. And just to be that guy, be very careful claiming it doesnt need a cert for the manual conversion, because it does. Someone can pull you up on that claim if they buy it and fail a wof for not having a cert.

Im sure @BM WORLD never grows tired of being told that on Facebook 😂 Not hard to see they're different cars.
-
I legit though Brent was taking the piss 😂 Thanks for clearing that up.

Big lols at someone first offering $8500 and being rejected, and then some no hoper coming in with $6000. Would be a good car to own, a much better prospect to me than an E46 or E46 at a similar price. Ks are creeping up to the Kiwi limit of 200k, but its pretty much bullet proof.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off a low KM auto either. With a stage 1 or 2 Xhp flash it makes it a very responsive transmission. Just make sure it does get serviced.

The problem I find, as mentioned above, is too many ramps are short and steep, meaning you drag the bumper on them going up and down. There are very few cars I can drive up my ramps without scraping.

I agree with Dave, thats a pretty bad metric for maintenance. I'd rather see a car with fresh tread cheaper tyres than the shockingly common down-to-the-belts anything. Cheaper tyres are perfectly fine for tootling around town for 90% of people. There are exceptions, like you probably dont want to put the cheapest tyres you can on something with serious performance or handling, but a stock 130i doesnt really meet that.

I've used Classic Cover and they have been great to deal with, albeit I haven't had to make any claims. No issues with modified or "unusual" cars or agreed values.

Grab a new cap and rotor, those are very tired. You can try cleaning it up by scraping the corrosion off the terminals, but a new one is better.

Agreed, i'd be amazed if they honour the sale.

Its a cool and rare little car. Would go well with a manual swap, or just as a daily as it is (sans all the stickers and sh*t on it) -
Anyone tried D1 Racing slotted rotors?

We had one that died a good death. Didnt throw a rod but the oil got so hot it started to come out of the sump on fire. Ended up igniting the car and gutting it. That was awkward, when the fire department came to a rural dead end gravel road to put out a car fire with a bunch of guys there. Uh yes sir, we were just driving and it caught fire 😂 Garage54 is awesome. Dont be so serious. Every "dangerous" thing they do is probably safer than daily life in Russia. -
Id look for something with a bigger engine, personally. The small six ainst going to be that much more economical and it will be painfully slow if my old 323i is anything to go by.

tbh $1150 aint too bad considering the distance and ferry crossing.

This angle sums the whole thing up for me. *facepalm*

Doubt it, if anything they should be increasing premiums. The amount of damaged vehicles at work has noticeably increased since lockdown. Its like people go full retard and forget how to drive. Its good for us though, more crashes, more money.

I got within sniffing distance of buying a V10 TDI one of these and then wussed out at the ongoing cost of ownership; that, and it would touch each end of my garage with nothing to spare 🤣 Awesome cars though, and so understated. Everyone just thinks they're a Passat.
-
If you're going to do it, at least gets a couple of mates around to help. Its going to be a sh*t job in the first place, the last thing you want is to be stuck under the car with the trans lying on you and no way out.
-
The N62 of that era is a dumpster fire of a thing too. Big list of potentially cripplingly expensive things that always go wrong.
-
Get stuck in, DIY it. Doesnt get much easier to work on than an E30 and parts are plentiful. Good car to learn on and there is nothing you need a specialist for.

If its not rusty you should jump on that as a quick easy project to get back on the road. Looking at the state of it, it needs someone to save it from its current owner.

MK8, far nicer looking car than that bloated pig nose thing.

Have rung 105 a couple of times, had no wait times and they have been very helpful. Guess thats just what happens when you dont live in Dorkland?
