    FS: 1994 E36 M3

Its just that the hipsters havent figured out that e36 m3s are cool yet ... dont worry .. give it two years and theyll be lining up in droves and prices will hit 45k in no time.
  2. There is still quite an active community on bimmersport ... The people on site count has stopped working since the server move. Have get James onto it but hes been running a whole race series so runs out of time a lot. It probably time for some get togethers to get things back on track again. The coffee meet ups are great, I would love to set up something like bimmerfest in the states. There are quite a few people around who would come. Would have to be a nice 2 day event to make it worth while. Would need to come up with some great activities however to make it more than just a car show and shine. Ive been wanting to do something like this for some time. I personally dont have the $$$ to pull something like this off. And up until now just havent had the time either. Im sure if we created a committee and tasked it all out and researched costs and fesibility it would be possible. The thing that wrecks these is when every says theyre coming and then on the day tons pull out because they have something better on. I have plenty of friends who own / run rather large event in auckland EG Beerfest etc and I know a couple of you are the same, so I reccon we have what it takes to make it happen.
  3. might be a hard one finding one second hand thats not attached ... I did it all myself with a westifalia one from schmiedmann. Thread here. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/48640-westfalia-detachable-tow-bar-hitch-e39-540i-motorsport/ Or if your not concerned with a bit of kiwi scaffolding underneath you could do it for cheaper using someone like best bars
  4. Nice to see Conrad's old car get some use.
  5. Hard to say as we cant really test the tires on the internet. But if they are rock hard and supplying 0 usable grip then it will work the same way with little weight over the tires. Also take a look at your LSD and maybe consider your diff ratio in the factors of the equation. When mine is a little light in the tank say around 1/4 its quite tail happy. But it will only compression lock at the up most extremes. Im running 11.3:1 which is on the higher end for a car and mines fine.
  6. Hate to say it, but the perfect all rounder is stock BMW. There are many many reasons for this. Just trust me on that one If you want full performance go pagid or ferodo. Beaware however that it will increase disc wear a lot more.
  7. To remove something means you understand 100% the effects it will have downstream. In this case, you are assuming you know exactly what grade of petrol you are running at any given time. Including full trust that the petrol stations tanks dont have a large water table effecting pump octane. That your environmentals such as air temp and air density are the same at all times, that any of these factors are not slowly over heating various pistons slowly causing them to crack down the sides of the piston to the first compression ring lowering compression in the effected cylinder. Or just overheating the tops of the stock cast pistons. Detonation doesn't usually happen in a big bang like in those youtube videos of wrongly tuned cars... it happens over time without you knowing. Removing knock control removes the engines last reactive line of defense to any or all of these issues. To do so is the reverse of what experienced aftermarket tuners do. They in fact add knock control to an engine if the aftermarket ECU isn't running it to give them a safety barrier. If the sole reason is to trick / remove the ECU function to circumvent the stock safety measures because it is interfering then I say that is highly foolish. A better approach would be to identify the knock control table and vector too it and adjust that on a dyno so you can see the results. I would also be doing it with full data logging.
  8. Its a combination of no weight in the rear, suspension, potential tire issues. Also it helps to learn to heel/toe down shifts.
  9. Sweet ... Let us know of other issue please
  10. Pretty much. Booooooost Ive lived my last 5 years with both cars over 280hp .. I don't think I can go back. Believe me I've had this discussion with the wife who was happy with a 320i Touring. I just cant do it ... not after the v8.
  11. Cheers fellas. I'm looking at tourings at this point for added boot space. Will be an auto as my other car is the play toy with the manual gearbox. This will be the car we have to deal with Auckland traffic in so auto makes much more sense.
  12. Dylans old car. It is very nice
  13. Thanks for the replies. Have been reading about the fuel pump thing ... seems to really be an issue in the states only? Something to do with high sulpher fuels in the states. Carbon on the valves seems to be just under burn breather issue and a valve clean. Probably something that can be fixed with updated software.
  14. Hi guys, Seriously starting to think about switching over to an e90/1. Have been looking at 335i and want to hear people experiences with these as owners. List things to look out for and what options are a plus. Cheers
  15. James is gonna have a look today and some of these problems. The like problem Glenn, I have had a crack at it and not had much luck myself. Again, I have only had limited time to look at it because of house renovations going on. In a week or so I will have a lot more time for bimmersport and cars again.
  16. Ollie and Andy still own the website. They dont really frequent the site anymore and are pretty busy running their own respective businesses. There are a bunch of us volenteers still left kind of keeping the wheels going. James and myself only visit the site every now and again. I will get back on at some point but have a bunch of other things going on at the moment so my foot has slipped off the pedal for the past few months. Probably why there hasnt been a lot of action to fix things as im not chasing things up any more. My suggestion as a paying sponsor as have a go at Ollie about it as it isnt good enough from your perspective.
  17. checkout some of the other two videos they have done for BMW motorsport etc. One of them is well worth paying for on Vimeo.

    Bathurst streaming

well then .... you wouldnt ever read about that ending .... epic stuff!
  19. hmmm Arc8s are a bit to big looking because of the spoke going all the way to the rim, if youre going to do 18s on an e30, they need to be 2 or 3 piece as the smaller inner balances the look out. Yes this has been around 6-7 years but still a nice shots of it.
  20. yep looks awesome ... might be worth having a go cleaning the TBs up yourself ?
  21. Yeah have bought through them a few times .... most of mine where good experiences until recently. Have also stopped buying from them. Much rather just go to someone like Summit racing or racers wharehouse etc.
  22. Yeah, little bit of a naive comment on the narrators part. Also noted the owners getting a bunch of facts incorrect but who cares really. Its a great video and has spirt.
  23. Time for some booooooooooooooost
