  1. there was about 8.5 hours ago... bugger, i am in Auckland now. Perhaps Hans can help?
  2. interesting, deifies logic, but looking at the LVV chart they use you are absolutely correct. lucky my wheels are 8.0 and i checked that sheet before investing. http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_01-2009_V3_Tyre_Size_to_Wheel_Size_Compatibility_Guide.pdf your car is looking great mate ! hopefully have a bit of a battle at some stage.
  3. just saw this thread, Auto 328i usually will have bigger half shafts, at least the later ones did. I have a complete 328i rear end for sale if anyone is interested including the bigger 328i brakes, $400 delivered to most of in the North Island
  4. your options are one of the following: * risk driving on second hand rock hard 30 year old metric rubber, posing a safety risk to yourself and everyone else on the road. * spend over $1000 per tyre on new ones here http://www.vintagetyres.com/item/434/240-45zr415--240-45r415--michelin-trx-gt--car-tyre--road--metric--tl * Fit 16" wheels. There is only one logical option here.
  5. bolt in solution is facelift 320i as stated above. rear section is the same on all E30s so just the front half you need. however may be easier to lengthen or shorten whichever ones you have already and have it balanced. since you need to cert for a swap anyway just another thing to add on your cert plate etc.

    .

    Surely 297 isn't the $1100 as well??
  7. When you say your service agent for the last 7 years do you mean you are taking it to a BMW dealer, or to an independant?
  8. Started the M52 for the first time today in its new home in my alpine white coupe. Lots more still to do but it's a good milestone to achieve! Might do a thread some day
  9. my cert guy has asked me to do something similar (though more substantial i suspect) on the piece of aluminium that will be replacing my spare wheel well. perhaps you could help?
  10. Unless Paypal have recently changed their fees, doesn't cost the buyer anything to use the service, charge goes to the seller? I have increasingly been getting customers wanting to pay by credit card instead of the rig moral dealing with their corporate finance system, so have been using Stripe since Xero launched it, i assume anyone can set up an account. used it a handful of times and seems to work fine, user interface could do with a bit of work but hey.
  11. what are you doing for CCV system or have you deleted etc?
  12. make sure you keep the power steering system serviced. My Aunty had one, same year i think a bigger motor than the 1.6 tho?? and the "scout" which is the 4x4 spec. Power steering rack failed out of warranty was moonbeams to repair and they know Gazley personally (i have heard but a few stories lol). car uneconomical to repair so traded in on a Renault badged Nissan. not sure if the Skoda ever went back the road. They did love it when they had it tho
  13. there is a genuine bmw sunshade in the E30 accessory brochure i have but have never seen or heard of one in real life now that would be baller. I have the one for the rear window on cabbies
  14. didn't know integrated kids seats were an option in the E39! standard equipment on Volvos of the same age.
  15. yes particularly hard to find these days, all cracked in the sun and heat when E30s were worth nothing and left outside peoples houses while other cars got the garage before the value of E30s went up again. some people are happy to settle for second best flocking them, others will put a dash mat on (like i have in both my E30s, to protect the minty dash in my cabby, and to cover the cracked one in my coupe, the coupe not special enough to receive my spare minty one just yet maybe one day) have seen a few people wrap them in leather, think like the E32 750iL had, which looks smart, and at the prices of a minty dash is probably about on par cost wise these days?? if thats your thing.
  16. i have one like that with the airbag and light etc built in if Brent can't help. will have to measure spline for you
  17. i have one sitting in my shed as minty as the day it came off the production line, yours for 7 rutherfords
  18. i have an m badge on my daily a ford transit custom, the only people that have ever told me off for it are probably "318i M3" owners. i kindly point out it has more power and torque than majority of cars with the badge, and applied to the wheels through a 6 speed manual gearbox. most people laugh because they know who i am and what my passion is.
  19. yes about at thousand. And yep agree with ya Kelvin.
  20. can do down here, can bring through next time i come up if you don't find anything closer.
  21. Yes the jerk to 2nd gear is somewhat 'un-BMW', but very common in E36 and E34s from Japan. Although it doesn't feel right it is very common, you will get another 100,000km if not more out of it like that. Interesting that the number plate on your car in the photo is now registered to a 130i, i presume those photos are from an old owner perhaps? will check what the G220 kit i have here needs later on this afternoon. technically a 328i should have a ZF gearbox however a G220 will work , just different internal ratios, depends on your final drive ratio if it is compatible with your car without necessitating that being swapped as well.
  22. Precedent sets the intended meaning, ass covering doesn't. Alicia, i wreck all these earlier models, also fit new and used parts for customers when needed, however if by qualified you are looking for a piece of paper with my name on it then no i am not. my driveway of mine and customers cars might indicate otherwise though. Im happy to take a look, i am in Woburn so the closest person to you that has plenty of experience with your model, i only work on these older models. I would recommend not driving it at all at this stage, perhaps could come to you tomorrow if that works for you and at least see where we stand. i am working on a customers car this afternoon, have another one arriving tomorrow afternoon, but any time tomorrow would be fine. If it requires a professional i.e. head gasket failure which is above what i would do on a customers car, i can point you in the right direction, most of the time its something fairly simple on these cars
  23. no you cant, but me or one of the admins can. Post a link to the thread in here and one of us will take care of it for you
