  1. Looks like the twin of @Olaf's Grey Thunder (before he started titivating it anyway...)
  2. THAT is a lovely car @Olaf.
  3. Wikipedia agrees with you...given the propensity of E30's to rust I'd want to go over it with a fine tooth comb (first 5 yrs spent in UK). Alpina rims just look so good though.
  4. Buy it @Choo! Spec looks good, it's on star-marked Potenzas (sure sign that there's been some maintenance) and should be a nice middle ground between the 116i and thirsty 135i
  5. Presumably the fact you don't have to carry a spare means a net benefit of RFT's overall on emissions though
  6. Thinking I want to DIY the oil change on the E91 320i I'm looking after atm - internet suggests that ramps are probably a better option than a jack. Any counter opinions for this?
  7. Especially if you want a lift kitted Ford Ranger on 22's
  8. what's wrong with the velour ones? those JDM specials are horrid 🤮
  9. E60 525i's seem to be prime candidates for this mistreatment
  10. I feel like that panel transition would be less egregious on a non-matte finish. I actually like it in Brooklyn grey, the penis tray bucket seats are a bridge too far though
  11. @Navin the cruise control braking uses the rear brakes to slow down when going downhill which tends to eat them
  12. It'll definitely need VO coding (the new mirror doesn't but the car will still think it has the ETC mirror there so will need to be removed in ISTA) but the mirror mounts are the same so should be straightforward otherwise 51162471107.PDF
  13. Those wheels are absolutely 💩 too...get in the bin
  14. The anti-Sreten from M539 restorations 🤨
  15. Me too - This seems fairly pricey given you can get an NZ new M340i for 10K less. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m340i/listing/3610087824
  16. @Sammo the RHD E30 M3 rabbit hole is deep! I think I'd rather have a tasteful 325i and a big pile of cash. originality probably the key for the M3 as you point out, I think the issue was the RHD steering rack fouled on the headers so any converted one has a slower rack
  17. The Pre facelift 650i (small wheel on idrive is easiest way to tell) with the pre-TU n63 is likely to be a money pit. The N63TU is allegedly better but an N55 640i, even in Stage 1 tune is likely to be more reliable. Nice looking cars though
  18. Congrats - it's lovely and I suspect you'll not see another green G21 in NZ. BMW Australia may be able to sell you Alpina rims - can spec new Alpina B3 there so could be worth a look.
  19. What's the replacement plan @E28E30?
  20. Looks like this one was built just after the pneumatic -> electric changeover @elias. If I was doing regular longer runs the diesel would be perfect but I’m not sure economy is much better than petrol in my usage given the long warm up time…the torque is addictive though, and the all weather traction is second to none
  21. @eliasJourneys are borderline too short for the diesel and like the idea of something that sounds a bit fruitier / done a bit more depreciating (might subsidize the i3 purchase!)
  22. Should clarify my current car is a wagon too @Twistee. The wheels may be reps but I think they're the 20" M Performance wheel that came on the 340i LCI Touring (Style 624M if google serves correctly). Yes the leaves in the underbonnet shot made my teeth itch as well!
  23. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/335i/listing/3580759660 Mods look fairly tasteful - I imagine the ride is quite harsh on passive M-sport suspension / 20's. Not sure about the map / aftermarket intake, would probably want it put back to stock. Price has been dropped by ~4k since listing so there may be a bit more fat in there. Most of my running is a 50k/day return commute (2x / week) so don't think the economy penalty would be terrible. Assume there'd be at least a 10k delta with a private sale for mine (2016 335d with 38k km) Good idea / bad idea?
