Welcome. Nice looking 335i with the right sort of wheels!
-
Pretty impressive. Actually sounds better than any E60 M5 with an exhaust that I've heard on video.

I remember going for a ride in a 528i F10, I was amazed at how four cylinder like it felt in a cheap way. Definitely didn't give off that quality BMW feel of old like an E39 525i would have, even if it's slower. Can't beat the harmonics, vibration and 120 deg power stroke interval a straight six provides, it's 180 degrees per power stroke in a four cylinder, significantly more lumpy!

Very nice. It's always good to get the little things out of the way. Of course while little they end up being quite difficult, fiddly jobs. At least it's done! What's next?

Likely just another M car treated like crap by various owners and drivers, driving too hard before the oil is up to temperature. Something gives eventually.

I miss the old days of the M20 and M30s when all you really had to worry about was the valve lash adjustment every so often barely 200hp & 25L/100km is the downside though haha.
-
Oh wow. Guess these things happen. Did you work out what let go?
-
Oh dear. But is it modified or stock?
-
I heard the issue was sludge in the fuel tank blocking up the fuel line.

Those are a couple of points that can't be taken lightly. OEM M3 parts are expensive, especially on the newer generation models. A brake overhaul could quite easily buy another nice car! Especially the engine bearing service, which is as far as I am concerned should be treated as a regular service item with these, could be done significantly cheaper as a DIY but working on the core of an S65 isn't exactly everyone's forte, so forking out the thousands to get the work done at a shop is the only option for many. Or waiting and hope they wont fail, gritting your teeth every time you take it up to 8000rpm... the cost if they do fail is considerable as one member has found out here. There is always a price to pay for having a race car like engine in a road car, unless its been warmed up for 20+ minutes with perfect oil servicing, you're never really going to know how healthy things are - some previous owners have little mechanical sympathy. If I was in the market for such an M car I'd request the seller allow a 100ml oil sample drained and send away for wear metal analysis, doesn't cost a lot and provides significant insight.

So it's been easier than your VVTi soarer? Haha. That red colour is looking pretty sharp.
-
It might end up being a situation waiting for some decent used seats out of a wrecked M3, shouldn't be too hard if they are black. Re-bolstering and re-trimming in leather to an OEM quality would be an eye watering amount... but if done right would be superb.

A tow hack? My goodness Amber. What are you planning on towing!
-
Yeah, just need to enjoy it for what it is. At least consider it's considerably nicer and faster than a 2007 318i, so you're winning in that regard :p
-
Should definitely do it. Of course extra funds need to be set aside for when you need to fix something that isn't just routine maintenance... but that is all part of the fun.

Whats happened to M3AN and his Projects

I couldn't help but notice how pleasant the forum was lately. Interesting coincidence. -
Dealers doing what they do. Buy cheaper, sell for higher. They'll probably get some sucker that will tick it up on their finance offerings.
-
Just saying what others say on here when others list cars for too much. It's clearly an overpriced pos.
-
The market will decide what it's worth. Perhaps the seller bought the car for a lower price and is trying to capitalise on that. Heaps of people do that with cars :p

While this M30 conversion has been done, I would advise against it. I've seen a setup up close multiple times and it's extremely tight length wise, to the point of the dizzy rubbing on a stock radiator even after moving the rad forward slightly by tweaking the mounts Motor also sits really close to the fire wall, as well as the brake booster so that needs to be changed out for a smaller one or it will fowl on the intake runners Performance is ok, 200hp/300nm in a fairly light car goes well enough but for the effort and time it's still fairly tardy by todays standards. I mean if you are set in using that engine go for gold, but I think there is more merit in using a M20B25 with some low boost, simple supercharger or turbo setup would be more effective in the long run, 6psi done correctly would put out around 240hp/300nm on one of those which would be quite fun and responsive. Probably cheaper than trying to NA work the M30 as well, considering the ones you listed won't really make discernible gains.

hahaha

Haha, nice mounts. I did my BMW E36 1UZ swap mounts the same way. Worked pretty well, although I would have probably done it differently if I were to do it again, mind you this is 8 years back haha. Did you use Vorshlag USA for any inspiration? That is where I borrowed the idea from.

Just occurred to me how the CSI front bumper transforms the look of the 8 series. For the money and image of the car they all should have had that more substantial front bumper as standard.

A 530i is definitely more optimal than a 525i Big car, you need the extra torque. Also don't straight pipe it, with the auto and being straight six, they are notorious for being obnoxiously loud. Could put a smaller rear muffler on but leave the rest of the system as it is. Cheaper in the long run too.

You're smoking more than that M engine on a cold start!
