Looking forward to seeing how a lower income family with their old petrol or diesel vehicle would manage to fix it up if they don't pass a new WOF emissions standards, repairing the exhaust system and installing a cat or DPF could bankrupt them, so they will probably just drive around with no WOF and take the risk. Upgrading to a better car is probably out of the question too for many. Let alone a super expensive electric car, could get a cheap one that needs the battery replaced soon though.

Definitely get a video / sound clip if you can. We need some lock down entertainment :p
  5. Results speak for themselves Great job.

But the cLiMaTE cHAngE! Greta will be most upset by those additional oxides of nitrogen you are releasing! Definitely worth it though
  7. I'd want to see a history of oil analysis for engine wear metals at that price. :p
  8. You'd need to be an expert in VWs to own something like this and get discounted parts.
  9. Definitely would be better with a twin tip, more BMW like. x2 3.0" would be sweet.

    E39 M5

To be fair this sort of thing happens every day with car buying and selling. I've done it before. The difference and slight problem here was that the car was sold with a recorded priced on Trade Me previously @ $20k so everyone that watches the M car market would have likely seen that. If the car was sold for an undisclosed amount this discussion wouldn't have existed and $30k or so would have seemed like a fair market price for the car. For some it would be like going to a dealer and seeing a car they liked and the dealer showing they paid 7.5k for it and it's now on the lot for 15k - it's certainly not ideal practice. At the end of the day there are only so many E39 M5s in NZ so eventually it will sell to someone who doesn't care and just wants it regardless.
  11. E34s with new suspension front to rear, would be very neat indeed. They all need it now.
  12. Great overall shape. Grille is a mess and too big though.
  13. Easy recipe to make a really fun fast machine with an E36 and 2JZ. That is just horrendous though, whoever did that should get a new hobby.
  14. Lets not forget those prices were at a CHARITY auction at the biggest auction house for cars. BARRETT JACKSON, they were also cars owned by a FAMOUS actor (c grade) so those conditions add up to make for unique circumstances. Lets see those LTWs sell for 200k+ each at a small auction house, not a charity and owned by Joe Blogs.
  15. Will be nice to get this going. I regret using an early 1UZ in my E36 V8 swap, too much effort for little power, but it was a fun excercise. L98 with a manual T56 is terrific value. By the way, watch out using those electric cut off valves, if they can be adjusted in the cabin and exceed the noise limit of 95dba at 3000rpm this will make getting a certification plate difficult. The valves are ok as long as on the loudest setting the output is not over the prescribed dba limit for a V8.
  16. What a gorgeous car. Worth doing the hard yards of maintenance to get the most out of it.
  17. Long gone unfortunately. I'm probably going to make a similar sort of thing future, maybe a UZ manual setup to suit a BMW E46 chassis. Such fabrication is on the cards with my company Redrive LTD that I'm specifying on electronics & engine conversion type stuff. At present mostly dealing with electrics but gearing up to deal with more. At the moment I'm doing a compact stock style single turbo setup for my 3UZ-FE Soarer that should be mostly done by Autumn. Aim is a reliable, 375hp / 600nm type of setup at 5-6 psi. All computer drawn for accuracy due to the tight fitment of the setup. Just about to start fabrication of the exhaust but will wait until after xmas & new years.
  18. M5 seems like the way to go.
  19. Hey guys, I need the inlet neck on the front of a turbo alloy compressor housing machined / lathed / CNC'd down to a lower level. Before I start calling around shops for a quote, does anyone know the perfect place in the Auckland area to have something dealt with accordingly? Or is there anyone in the Bimmersport community I could hit up? Let me know, Cheers mike.
  20. If only we could make Auckland great again.
  21. I can't even keep up you seem to have too much going on at once! Have you done much to the internals of the M60 to handle the supercharger?
  22. The X5 middle muffler is a near true dual design, its straight through so little restriction with some perforated pipe at either end. The X pipe tends to be more of a bottle neck which tends to give that raspy rushed gas sound, I've never been a fan personally. They also make the overall tone quieter. The best change from the middle muffler would have true dual pipes with a small 1" H pipe, that would have kept the X5s V8 rumble but made it louder. Still, each to their own. I'm just obsessed with exhausts :p
