What are they going on?
-
By upgrade do you mean new housing replacements or just plugging in LED's into the factory stuff?
-
Standard 8mm\5\16" stuff available from most auto stores

Sure there are many solvents that are worth a shot. If the dip has been put on thick it should peel off fairly easy once you get under it taking the spray paint with it. I've used D-Limonene and a 3000psi water blaster to remove dip in the past.

I've read of clutch switches not being wired in properly causing hangs but that was more on M52TU engines, does your cruise control work ie clutch module wired in properly?. E46 manuals used electric fan instead of viscous i believe which may have some influence. When i did my manual swap i updated the DME to the latest as it was the first version ever released. Manual BMW's with DBW have never felt that great to me, reprogramming would probably improve that to some extent but its no cable.

Lots of good ones but Delphine Metallic is one of my favorites, nicely balanced. Colour palette for the older models was impressive, it seemed to have to dwindled over time.
-
Haha i was going to state exactly the same line but figured you'd say it yourself. More disadvantages than advantages when using a M54 in E30 imo.
-
If you spending that kinda of money then a good set of headers, MAF\MAP conversion and a remap are proven and deliver good gains.

I think BMW deserves credit for consistently creating oil leaks and engine part failures since the M50

Rebuilt engine - help with oil pressure at first start
Eagle replied to modz's topic in General Discussion
I remember the Bentley saying disconnect the dme harness rather than fuel pump relay but im sure either would suffice, remove spark plugs, hook up batt charger and crank at 20 or 30s intervals until the oil pressure light goes out -
335i would likely be the better daily driver for obvious reasons. If its had its common failures sorted it should be fairly reliable, otherwise you may have budget a chuck $ for potentially expensive repairs and get your hands dirty. E30\M20 is a joy to work on compared to the E90\N54 and is just about as reliable and well build as a BMW gets, the turbo setup may or may not be though depending on time\money put into it. E30 would certainly be the more engaging car to daily if you not sitting in traffic. In saying all that i don't think anyone can really say all the much without knowing the specifics of each car. You'd have to drive both and decide for yourself at the end of the day as everyone has their own preferences.

How long did you run it for? Maybe you flooded it
-
Im surprised when i don't see a car still on the original fuel filter. Poly coupler is the way i go i think unless you have a bad joint.
-
Im not in disagreement about the current law but i highly doubt many are getting pinged for DPF's regardless when their vehicle was registered before or after 2010. As Jon said they are said they are looking at changes and you can almost guarantee there wont be a shortage of people failing for removing them. The excessive smoking aspect is one ive made from the start and my main gripe which emission testing will help curb.
-
Existing rules aren't enforced that well hence all the smokey pos still driving around.
-
There would have to be parameters based on the vehicle and age i would think. Im not against removing all old cars from the road purely because of age but should be at least some sort of standard to remove the worse offenders (which are mainly as Jon stated)
-
I agree and that why I dont like diesels in general, plenty that shouldn't even pass a WOF even without testing. All these guys removing DPF from their utes etc maybe in for a shock at some stage when they gotta pay to put them back in to pass a wof. Maybe it will slow down sales to all these idiots that think they need a ute.
-
Yeah wouldn't want to do it twice either. I had to JB weld my rear door cars as they pulled part which dragged out the job till the next day.
-
Never noticed msport also have black trim on the inside of the doors until i was swapping them over myself. Guessing you not going to worry about that though ?
-
Likely talking about the flywheel spacer\skim that goes under the flywheel bolts
-
If you want cheaper plugs you will likely have to buy overseas and wait. eg https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-bmw-mini-porsche-vw-spark-plug-ngk-bkr6equp
-
Yeah they are great from a customer perspective. They dont appear amazing in many other areas though.
-
If you slap 2 of them inline its straight 8 and retains muscle car status. Im sure it will easily fit.

Ive used Youshop UK in the past and they are extremely slow to process and ship, can't imagine its improved in the current environment, especially with the additional $4 per 500g they have just added due to the virus. Royal mail is (maybe was atm) fairly well priced and fast

As above if you just want to top it up use water, not going change anything long term unless its already been heavily diluted in the past. You can run a 40\60 coolant to water ratio without issue and probably 30\70 if you had to. Plenty of other acceptable coolants you can swap to IF you drain and flush out the BMW stuff https://www.repco.co.nz/en/oils-fluids/engine-oils-fluids/coolant/penrite-7-year-450-000km-green-coolant-concentrate-5l-coolgreen005/p/A1270778 Is what i use these days as it meets BMW spec and isn't way overpriced like the BMW stuff seems to be these days.
