2 pointsFellow BMW Fanatics: Im Kurt, new member of the forum and first time poster! I purchased a 2007 e92 335i before Christmas which made for my first European car. Previously Australian v8 and more recently a 2002 200sx/S15. I wanted something a little more subtle that didn't draw as much attention and settled on the classic lines of the e92 coupe! So far only minor modifications of suspension, wheels, interior bits n bobs have been done since receiving the car stock as a rock. To do list is as follows: DCI (Intake) Jb4/cobb/remap (Unsure what route to go at this stage) Tints Angel eyes Roof Wrap (gloss black) When that's boring: Either Turbo upgrade with supporting downpipes/intercooler etc or Meth kit I look forward to meeting you friendly folk around the roads this year and trust you are all soaking up some summer sun out on NZ favourite "twisties" .

2 pointsI quit smoking at the beginning of last year after smoking since I was 14. Lol it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I haven't touched a cigarette since and have no desire to. Going cold turkey is the best way to do it. All of this cutting down and then completely phasing it out did not work for me but everyone is different. I don't mind smokers but to each their own. I chose to quit for gym reasons. Cardio vascular fitness was lacking and I definitely felt the difference after quitting. I support anyone who tries to quit. Big thumbs up

1 pointI've been having a few issues with the resident a**hole over the past few months. Wifey informs me, he makes me spend $850 on ciggarettes & $350 on beer per month on average and he's trying to kill me... far out... I know were this could go...... maybe a project or two ? Anyway... yesterday morning I was having a coffee out on the deck at 3.00am with the prick.. and 2 cigs later, he informs me theres no more left... WTF !! you didn't bring any home ??? nup... F.U.T.T... Havent spoken to the prick since. So its a cold turkey run for me ATM...no patches, no pills...just going to do it... and get rid of the a**hole that's been trying to kill me for many, many years... and spend the money on projects that cant kill me. 2nd Day... tolerance levels for idiots have always been a constant "O"... but today I have "O" for people contact altogether.... I've come home early. And .... f**ken smokers are starting to stink.. natural orange juice tastes loverly © oranges & bananas really do taste quite nice and my coffee tastes different ?.... sh*t... both my cars stink too. I'm realy going to fight this...I WANT TO STOP SMOKING

1 pointdecided it's time for an e30v8 project thread to keep everyone up to date with whats happening to the old girl. it's by no means a new build as some of you know but it's still constanty being tweaked and improved. decided to give the front suspension a birthday couple of weeks back with new balljoints, struts and offset CAB's I also made an underbody brace to tie the front crossmember back to the chassis where the lollipop bushes mount to it (idea shamelessly copied from ultra racing) and a rear strut brace. I always try to machine or fabricate parts like this myself instead of buying them, the new offset bushes are aluminium with replaceable nylon inserts. bought some cool 80s looking gauges ages ago and found the time today to make up a gauge panel and wire them up. more updates to come

1 pointThe old girl's for sale. Shes done 307000 odd K now and still wont give up, has been a really, really good thing and puts to rest the idea an E46 cant be a reliable jigger. NZ new with good option list. Full service history. Imola with full black leather interior. Best colour combo built. Some stone chips as you'd expect at these Ks. Usual sports extras. Here's some pics Looking for $5000.

1 pointThought about buying it and stripping it for parts. Always good to have a spare gearbox for the race car.

1 pointThere are certainly some very "special" drivers out there.Back in the UK, my mates dad managed to have a head-on with a fire engine, you know the great big red things? Even better, it was on the way to a fire so had all the lights and sirens going. We took the piss out of him for years about that one...
-
1 pointYeah just get them from Gavin. His prices are cheap anyway. He's even swapped parts I've ordered incorrectly from overseas for some of his ones. Support the people that support us.

1 pointSo, had an odd moment this morning, You know those turning lanes which have a kinda median strip to designate theyre turning only? Well.. Mr too good for the road rules police man decided cutting me off from 2 lanes & over the median strip was a great way to start the morning, then he proceeded to drive at 20kph like a f**king tourist looking for a picnic spot, then without indicating, stopped in the middle of the road. It was a great moment being able to smash the horn and yell " You hopeless Efing C, dont the rules apply to you!? " his reply was a quick " move along " wave and we were done. Best part is the same bastard wanted to arrest me for riding a bmx without a helmet a few weeks ago too. I feel bad for ranting, but this drives me nuts more than anything else on the road.

1 pointRepower with this: Includes DME etc. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=841397740

1 pointThumbs up for giving it a go yourself, should be a simple remove and replace but you never know with E30's.

1 pointGreeting, I completed a compression test today because the engine is doing a few things that aren't quite right since I rebuild it a year ago. It sometimes coughs bluish smoke after a hard drive and only at really high revs, it also gets a bit hotter than it should but I think my radiator and fan might just not be cutting the mustard. anyway, my question was if this compression test is ok is could a leak down test show something completely different? Test (I know it should be about 145psi but i'm guessing a $60 super cheap tester isn't quite accurate): Cylinder #1 – 195psi Cylinder #2 – 197psi Cylinder #3 – 195psi Cylinder #4 – 195psi Cylinder #5 – 200psi Cylinder #6 – 205psi thoughts?

1 pointI've seen continental cars or likewise dealerships sell new RS Audi's etc with laser jammers hardwired installed lol
-
1 pointGoing by the list of fines that a police offer can give out .. They list operating a device that "interferes" with speed measuring equipment. So I take that as an active system. Detectors are passive ..
-
1 pointI buy from Gavin as the parts he sells are quality items and he stands behind them. If there are any issues it gets sorted quickly unlike trying to sort issues with an overseas seller.
-
1 pointDoes it keep climbing over 100c if you keep pushing it? 100c isn't too hot for a engine that is been thrashed. Remember it's summer and the ambient air is a lot hotter, and it won't boil till over 125~c if your cap is good

1 pointDriving back from Hampton Downs today I experienced some of the most obnoxious driving. The driver was in a Mitsubishi Legnum along with about three other guys. They were driving in the right lane not passing any one so I decided because they were going 80-90k that I would go up the middle and undertake them then I popped back into the right lane to overtake the guy that was in the middle lane up ahead. Oh of course they didn't like this, so they went into the middle lane and then got up right along side me for a while. They then proceeded to cut me off to get in front of me just before I was to pass the guy in the middle lane slightly up ahead - they sure knew I was there! Honked my horn at them so they then brake checked me. Any who, I got back in front of them at some stage before the Victoria Park Tunnel and every time I did some form of overtaking manoeuvre they decided they would follow suit and get right up behind me each time. In the end they ended up cutting me and one other off before Esmonde Road, by shooting across three lanes to get off at the off-ramp. I did get some of that on video in my car - however I thought best not to post it as the language wasn't particularly ladylike. Not that I'm the most perfect driver but unfortunately it's common in Auckland to see stupid behaviour like this. Rant over.

1 pointLove Tom`s handiwork mainly because I get to test it. Super impressed with everything to date. Big thanks from HELLBM

1 pointthere is a thread here with pictures, will have an update for it this weekend some time i should rephrase, if you were spending 20k on your e30, the punters aren't going to be too short of a dollar and can probably find the not-much-extra for an M3. you can still get nice tidy facelifts for just on $10. i paid $6700 for mine 18 months ago, but admittedly was a very good deal, and the guy needed it gone, the ex wife wanted her slice of it. bitch. Yes probably, my E30 cabby is 9 months older than me, sat on a lot for a year before being registered when i was two months old. actually everything in my drive was made before i started school. They made all the good stuff in those years

1 pointNow in possession of some pretty cool tooling and ability to work on multiple types of DMEs I suppose (although I've only tested it on MSS54s so far) ... including: FGtech Galletto 4 with BDM and JTAG functions BDM100 tooling Spring loaded BDM connectors for Siemens, Bosch, Marelli and Delphi DMEs (no more soldering needed) Chip burner and various types of sockets - still testing some of these (have tested 29FX00 chipsets and M35080 and it seems to work okay) On board Motorolla M35080 connector (no more removing chips from clusters : P hehe) BDM frame for BDM spring loaded connectors. Also in other news ... now in possession of a highly tuned Evolve MSS54 DME file : ) Supposedly 385hp+ so I am told. Next project ... Velocity Stack modification : ) Anyone want to be guinea Pig? Apparently makes more power than the CSL airbox : )

1 pointSome photos after today as I got it back - Sam is regarded as the best in Auckland, and I know a few of the forum sponsors on here use him as well. I just wanted a basic swirl removal, and he did just that. Attached are photos of it after being driven from the show etc. and I'm sure those with a black car will understand how hard it is to get that swirl free finish in a black car. I was stoked! Pricing is on his website I believe but obviously is cheaper is you just opt for a few things and not a package. I have a lot of work to do now before it's completely show n shine ready! Just didn't compare to the other cars there today being stock. These photos are taken with an IPhone, and unedited.

1 pointCould be because the speed limit is 80 and peoples speed creeps up as the enter the tunnel? I am always paranoid they have speed camera's. To the guy traveling in the silver Hyundai Tuscan southbound near Mt Wellington last night, speeding up and then tail gating me when I move into the passing lane to pass is not cool bro, I hope your brakes and reflexes got a good test... to the guy in the middle lane who speed up when I moved out to pass, f**k you too douch... all this resulted in my date getting very upset with me and I didn't get any action at all. Yours sincerely, the wanker in the White Renault Other drivers are just sh*t, I just set my cruise control and try and maintain a pace but you all seem to think its some kind of race and feel the need to block and play games, I just want to get home at as smooth as possible... just pick a speed and stay at it and everything would just flow so much better.

1 pointMSS50 EWS delete confirmed working ... But flashing only via OBD at the moment as bench flashing this DME have been a bit perplexing for the moment.

1 pointTested the converted DME last night and it worked perfectly as expected - no error codes. Didn't get a chance to drive around to live stream data to make sure it is all reporting correctly - but I am told that it is. Will do this when I get a chance and when the weather is good again. Some photos: Started with this: Changed The AM29F200 to AM29F400 and added the H Bridge and associated caps Changed out the resistors as guided by Terra in the US forums who has done the traces to find the differences between the two boards. If the resistors are not changed you get a code 233 which is map sensor related under CSL software. Flash on CSL software via WINKFP and voila (you will get an internal driver error (code 151) which is due to the difference in injector drivers in the non HP DME vs the HP variant. According to Terra the two drivers functions exactly the same, but are just different. This code can be taken out of course quite easily. Put in car and search for codes and no errors. All credit to Terra in the USA for figuring this out for the community.
