7 pointsHi, After a long pause I've finally purchased a car a few months ago. It's an oldie but a goodie. 1971 Porsche 911T Not quite an E30 M3 or CSL, but you never know what the future brings.... Cheers, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

3 pointsHey mate I moved this to the off topic section. Please don't send me death threats or start a blog about me. Agree. Absolutely feral.

2 pointsthink you will find its an E34, hard to tell under all that i know hahaha

2 pointsI have yet to have a good coffee from a capsule. After figuring out that an anal retentive approach in the quest for the perfect coffee was actually ruining it when I did find an acceptable coffee, I have settled on the following low tech compromise- buy espresso grind coffee and brew it in a plunger. I like coffee but I'm buggered if I'm paying for the equivalent of a manual conversion in the E39 to get there!

1 pointOK so I killed my old espresso machine by not reading the instructions carefully enough while doing a de-scale :-( So might have to 'invest' in a new one. What are people using these days? Old school or those new capsule jobs? Only just started reading reviews etc but appears to be less mess\cleanup with the capsule approach which is a good thing, but not if it tastes crap...

1 pointI've been thinking about selling my E39, it is NZ new with 3 private owners and 2 car sales. This car has been a pleasure to own and the only problem I've had with it (apart from maintenance and servicing) is a fuel pump replacement. It was delivered new to a businessman in Marlborough, who specially ordered it. Then a few years latter traded (I presume) and another owner got it and sold it to me at 99.000km, and in the last 8 years I've put almost 100k on the clock, so it's now getting close to 200k on the clock. It still drives great and on my last trip back from Nelson I watch a Porsche Cheyanne almost run off the road trying to keep up with me. The car was ordered with quite a few options, comfort seat, de chromed, debadged, motorsport options including suspension, and the 6 speed manual amongst other things. After the original owner purchased it the car was sent back to BMW and fitted with a S5 Schnitzer kit, wheels, spoilers, side skirts mirrors, exhaust etc. So this is quite a unique car and I've been trying to figure out what it's worth....anybody have any idea what a fair price on this would be?

1 pointReplaced poor fitting front top hat nuts with correct sleeved capped nuts to suit m sport strut brace, put the factory wheels on for the winter, gave the bbs's a good clean ready for a polish up and wax/sealer ready for spring. But before that tried them on on the ute for something to do. Also making progress on the risers for the ltw wing.

1 pointWelcome, I'm no E91 expert but you'll find plenty of help I'm sure from all

1 pointWhy is it that the "rant" thread is twice as long as the "life is choice bro" thread ? Are BMW owners glass half empty types or is it just that we can express anger easier than enjoyment ? Pondering ..... Rant over !

1 pointHad a number of machines as the coffee addiction has increased . Most machines initially lasting 3 ish years before pump failure. Went e61 about 7 years ago, machine has done 1000s of cups, features copper boiler and braided pressure lines on hot water side. alwats has plenty of pressure for shot and steam, never needs a break between cups. These machines work out cheaper overtime as time before failure is high compared to domestic machines ( exception being Ranccilo)

1 pointNot really considering they had in the sea.. It would be a shame if they did that with an m3...
-
1 pointAnd if it was causing confusion, 911T doesn't mean "turbo". It's base spec. Nigel - I don't mean to be rude calling it base spec by the way - I have one (a not very roadworthy 69T). I think you've made an awesome choice.
-
1 pointI agree with Ron on something with an e61 head (or the Rancilio by reputation but haven't used one) and a decent $$$ grinder. Both will last forever if appropriately serviced. Then you just need to practice... If you just want high quality black coffee and don't want to spend much - a burr grinder (manual about $60 but hard work, or I used to have a sunbeam one bought for about $100 on sale) - an Aeropress for $50ish - light roast single origin coffee roasted with pour-over or Aeropress in mind.

1 point^ the operator relies on good beans and a good working machine otherwise u wont even get a half as good cup of coffee. Steaming milk is important too but thats mostly the operator
-
1 pointYup it did.Considering over the years what I spent on the multiple auto machines this setup has already paid for itself. It's pretty much indestructible. Only downside is the coffee is only as good as the operator.

1 pointKeep meaning to turn up one Sunday and try your coffee Kyu but a bit embarrassed as I'm driving a toyota at present
-
1 pointNot really a coffee snob and I taint it anyway with chocolate That said my wife buys green beans and roasts them old school for me so pretty fresh. Then I was using a basic sunbeam espresso machine. Being a little anal retentive means I get one cup of mocha for 10 minutes of cleaning... Hence the reason for considering the capsule machines. Hate hate hate instant!
-
1 pointI just got that too! Highest one is $135... but the '72 Beetle and '29 Ford are around half that, from memory Might have to daily them
-
1 pointCheers gents. Yes the plan is to change the updated parts. This ain't a 930. The 930 was Porsches internal code for the 911 turbo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointThe general consensus is that capsule ones are pretty good. But as a barista i must say you cant beat a real freshly ground coffee bean espresso. Machine prices can vary from a hundred dollars to thousands so its really upto you how much you want to spend.

1 pointThey have sent out a letter for all three cars to tell me how much it will be for a year. Looks like NZTA will be singlehandedly keeping NZ Post from insolvency this month...

1 pointOnly way to find out what it's truly worth on the market is to $1 reserve it. Otherwise put a price on it and see how much interest you get. If you're getting none then it's too expensive.
-
1 pointi was thinking around $10k would be cheap and $12-13k would be a good price for a nice e39 manual

1 pointI would have happily bought it of the forum but it was on TM so................

1 pointProblem came back so gather round kids and learn about how i finally fixed it for reals; Codes for misfire all cylinders and adaptions maximum enrichment reached. VW MAF sensor reads about 5% richer than the BMW one, this can be seen in that my long term fuel trims are 95% compared to %103 with the BMW sensor in there. For a short time, this extra fuel due to the maf sensor change caused the car to run a bit richer which allowed it to compensate for the lean condition and make the problem appear to go away.....until the overall fuel trims adjusted and brought everything back to square one. So it had to be a vacuum leak. I spent a couple of mornings getting rowdy with the brake clean and finally found the culprit, this f**ker right here! So $50 worth of seals from Coombes later, I've taken it for a good long drive and here are the fuel trim numbers before and after; As we can see, the long term trim has taken out the error from the wrong maf sensor and the short term trims are close enough to spot on. After a few cold starts to verify success, i'll do my happy dance.

1 pointIt's all well and good to complain about something thats going on in another country on the other side of the world. Yet generaly the people who are signing these petitions or starting them are still buying good ole Farmer Brown eggs because they're $3 cheaper than Free Range or buying that yummy Pork thats on special without a thought to how these are farmed in our own back yards. As to the capturing of pets. How do you know a dog is a pet when it has no collar and is left to wander around the village at free will and basically has to fend for itself. What defines a animal thats left to free range as a pet? Sorry, but these kind of petitions serve no purpose except to make the people who sign it feel good about themselves for a moment. The Chinese Government has absolutely no regard for what you or I think and they're most certainly not going to take any notice of a petitions signed by a bunch of foreigners. Why would they? They have no regard for what their own citizens think! If you want my signature start a petition to completely stop Battery Farming Chickens or one to stop the factory farming of Pigs in New Zealand. Lets clean up our own backyard before we start pissing in someone elses.

1 pointPretty sure ACS didn't make any cars with a 1.8 litre engine and automatic box. Could possibly be dealer fitted Schnitzer dress-up bits added to the car, or transplanted later in its life though? Unless it is a really, really rare and obscure ACS then getting rid of the auto and adding some more power will only increase it's value.

1 pointHa, and many Hindu people still eat beef anyway.. Its the muslims we could perhaps learn a thing or two about when it comes to meat and how it is consumed and appreciated.
-
1 pointI have dogs. I love my dogs. Im not going to eat them. But. An animal is an animal, and if a culture eats dog meat, and that is what they have always done, who am I to question it. Some cultures do not have cheap factory farmed meat available. Most will consume in a month what we do in one sitting. We live in a country where most of the meat we eat is factory farmed, we just turn a blind eye to it. We also consume an unbelievable amount of meat, way more that what we need too. I say watch this and decide if the meat you currently eat comes from animals that have been treated ethically or humanly before passing judgment on other cultures. And maybe ask if what we do is any better than other cultures. I am not a vegan/vegetarian either, I am conscious of what I eat though.

1 pointFinally resolved. Got INPA running on my laptop, plugged in and checked out the important things: Fuel long term trims were quite high. When running cold / warming up, the ECU was having to dump in quite a large enrichment correction and was running out of adjustment triggering my check engine light. When hot, the ECU was able to compensate. There must be a point when the warmup enrichment has tapered off and the ECU has less room to compensate, causing the problem to only show up at a narrow temperature range. So i checked for vacuum leaks, thought about replacing the CSC valve thing on the back of the manifold....but that looked hard. I eventually kept a good watch on all of the parameters in INPA as the car warmed up a few times and noticed intake air temp was wrong at low air flows. It was showing 40degrees C on a cold engine that hadnt been run that day! Off idle, the air temp would drop to something like 24 but thats still a big jump from the 15 outside. Idle air requirements didnt seem to vary much with A/C or power steering loads...so that was odd. Took a chance and replaced the airflow meter. Didnt want to pay the big tax for a BMW or Range Rover one so ended up slamming in the Volkswagen one. Works great! The internet was right, its a brilliant low cost alternative. $170 compared to $800 for a BMW one or $500ish for a Range Rover one. The car is now running awesome, it drives better even tho i didnt notice anything wrong with the performance. Shifts are smoother and pulling away from intersections is crisper. Idle quality is still only a 9/10 but I'm very picky. Perhaps there is something else going wrong but I'll keep an eye on things and see how we go for now.

1 pointSuspension's finally complete. All new front and rear. Sport shocks, csi bump stops and rear reinforcement plates and Eibach springs. What a difference! The old girl feels like new, so much grip in the corners. She's pretty low so the ride's a bit harsher than the floaty EDC but not much different to the mtech II suspension in my old E39 540i. She earned herself some new rubber on the fronts too. Resulting issues... Not sure I'll be able to navigate my steep drive if I fit my csi front spoiler... Too much low!! And on the odd hard bump thanks to our crappy roads, I get a bong like a check engine. Happened prior to overhaul too. No light so possibly just a loose electrical connection. Any ideas?
-
1 pointWheel alignment after full suspension overhaul and splashed out on some new front rubber.

1 pointI don't care what anyone says, if its does not have a third pedal its not a manual transmission.
