Fabricators have now finished. Big thanks to the great workmanship of Colin @ Quest Fabrication. Next step will be with the panel/paint shop for shaping of the doors/petrol flap and painting. Nice to be able to fit the Work wheels and/or OEM 18`s/19`s

Sam`s E36 started life as a Manual NZ new 320. repower with M50B30 stroker and evo M3 6 speed. from the parts bin: E46 m sport seats, and any M sport bolt-ons that we could find. e39 rims with rolled rear guards.

Some people just don't see the difference other than price, one costs $120, the other $400. They both are black and go round in circles, job done in their mind. And why spend $800 in tyres on their $1500 car?

This is a joke, I just failed a WOF the other day for an insecure gear knob and people can run around on dodgy old tyres like those. Wow, just wow.

Like the saying goes "if you have to ask...." If you typed your question in Google you will get all the info you need. Mounts. Booster options. etc etc. Been done to death, like any other motor you could think of e30's pretty much had them all.

^haha yeah I've always thought the same. One night when my girlfriend picked me up from a night on the booze, she put the warmers on to see how long it would take for me to notice. In my state, I sat still the whole time, completely adamant in my head that I had sh*t myself.

    Details please, Andy?!

Agree with ya a wee bit Steve, i would rather (and do) drive on second hand premium tyres than buying new ling longs. i just dont do the mileage to justify a set of brand new pirellis each time, they would be 10 years old before i got half way through them but difference between 2 years old and 15 years old!

Still can't believe I picked up this brand new Nissens radiator for 19.90euros + shipping (which was twice that) on eBay.de. Half expected an empty box to arrive. Total cost NZ$128 compared to dealer price locally of $850!! Much win!!

Have a look at westys thread for his m62 conversion (toward the end of the thread) quite a bit of mucking around but worth it. Goes super well.

If the car has passed a WOF with issues that "would make it fail a WOF", then surely the fault is on the shop that gave the WOF and not the previous owner of the car.

So I sold this to ROB HB1 last week, I took tuesday off work to replace rear handbrake shoes and some other sh*t so it would pass WOF which it got from a very reputable shop in town which has easily over $300,000 worth of racecars and modified street cars being worked on at any time, I drive to christchurch to save him even more money, I sell the car for less than I ever wanted to, to a man who seemed so happy at the time of sale.. He then talks some sh*t on this thread, then I receive this PM today. Hi Tyler, Have had car checked over by euro specialist garage we use here in Hastings. Car would not pass a wof. Not sure what your guys were doing? Parts and labour to remidy come to $550.00. they are as follows: 1x engine mount 2x gearbox mount pair front brake hoses pair front brake rotors pair front brake pads 1x rear wheel bearing labour. While I appreciate this car was bought as is, this is a wof issue. Having gone to the trouble of getting one it needs to meet wof standards which is doesn,t. please arrange for payment asap. Failure to do so will result in a trip to land transport and /or small claims court. So, before anyone trys to sell a car to this chap. He will get all his dates wrong, then act like its your fault. He will act completely fine with what hes buying on the day, then he will talk sh*t on the internet. and then to top it off, he will threaten small claims court over an AS IS WHERE IS sale. You need a f**king reality check Rob.

Driving mentality in NZ is backward, here its a right not a privilege.

Is there such a thing as seat coolers? Cold bum in the summer time might be nice... (use Borat accent for nice)

Is it time we as a community did something about it? I really wouldnt know where to start, but happy to help where I can...

Never got the heated seats thing... Just feels like you've p*ssed yourself on a cold morning. Feel free to move this to the rant thread.

Now now, be nice to our resident expert. He does make some valid statements, for the most part.

Nah mate, have you not seen the ads on TV? It's the people who drive at 10km over the limit that cause accidents. Got nothing to do with road worthiness
  19. 2 points
Such discussion really underlines the serious lack of attention applied to real issues like this. If all cars in NZ had to met a standard of tyre quality & spec required for WOFs road incidents would be dramatically improved.

Post to see possible interest. Have machined up a set of adaptor brackets to attach the more comfy recaro seats we find in a lot of other vehicles. Eg lancers, bighorns, evo's golfs etc to e30 factory rails. Made by a qualified engineer Brackets come with all bolts an spacers to attach to your factory slider rails an to attach your new recaro goodness. Made from 4mm plate steel so very strong all bolts and spacers are stainless steel so tensile strength is more than you could ever think of breaking. Advise using blue locktite when assembling for extra peace of mind. Brackets are powder coated flat black go blend them nicely with the factory rails. complies with Nz wof standard More people keen to go through the the cheaper they can be as with all manufacturing costs. Price is $325 per pair(4 brackets got 2 seats) including shipping nz wide

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=2386401 Almost all the auctions are tyres well out of date, many produced before year 2000 4 or 5 year old tyres, i dont have as strong opinion as some people here, ahem Ron ahem, but i think we can all agree 15 year old tyres are well overdue, surely it is/should be illegal to profiteer from these deathwishes?

Cool idea, but If you don't know what parts to use, I do suspect it might be in the little hard basket Theres always engine conversions going on but many seem to get abandoned half way through. That said, put aside at least 10k if you do embark on something like this.

Law and morals are entirely separate though It may be legal, but doesn't mean we have to be ok with it. Could be some legit uses for them I guess, cars used off the road (farms, paddocks and general stuffing around), drifting ect. So they could be legal to use for these purposes, but illegal to use on the road. Might not be a bad thing to make them illegal to sell as well though just to help ensure they stay off the streets, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of second hand tyres of a reasonable age anyway.

probably to get the purchase price under xxx$ to avoid tax in the UK??
  29. 1 point
Yeah was thinking along the same lines. Interior is blargh! I'm assuming a leather motorsport interior would run approx. $1k? Probably would want to do something with the suspension as well though... and the stereo... Mmm list could get big!

Good work, i ordered some stuff from Revshift yesterday also! Cheaper to get it through them and shipped rather than buy it from the NZ stockist...

Removed motor and trans from donor vehicle. Spent too much with Revshift & Pelican. lets the parts bin grow

This is true. Other BS groups complaining about whatever seem to be able to get things changed, so why not try start a campaign about dodgy tyres risking lives?

Having a bmw weekend car. I can always think of sh*t to do with it. I am making a custom centre console. Having the three piece wheels 'fit'. I am welding in wider metal flares in the rear, maybe the front. AND I do not have to do ANY mechanical work to it (done that already) so its reliable as hell, spent thousands mine. ha
