Ok then..lol. A few of you guessed. Probably cause I couldn't help myself and had to throw that other pic out there. A guy managed to get one of these working on his 540i. As it's the same engine as my M60B40 theres no reason why it wont go into my 740i other than it might be a tight squeeze to get the throttle body in the back of the engine bay. We'll see. This is a much cheaper option for boost than going Dinan or VF centrifugal.

Don't forget to budget an extra $1500 for the bubble wrap and FIA helmet. Jesus you must be fun at parties, Ron.

New actuator arrived today, apparently it was the last one in NZ! All fitted up and it runs fine, will check fault codes again and test drive later. Replacement gears have also been shipped from the USA, and should arrive next week.

Hi all, Well Ive just come back form a successful week of racing over 1000kms over the week that is Targa NZ and Its the longest rally of its kind in the world. Between my wider family we had 5 entries of 4 BMWs (2 E30 M3's one E30 325 and my compact) and one Subaru wrx comming from Australia. The compact Finished 4th overall out of 60 something cars, my brother Carl finished 3rd in classics, My old man in the M3 had engine issues relating to oil consumption and the other M3 had a major engine mechanical problem resulting in bits of piston littering the road! Just wanted to say thanks to Ray from HellBM for his help leading up to the event, loaning my parts to hget the engine running and the offer for a new P/S pump during the event. Hes a good bugger! Kayne Barrie from Kayne Barrie Motorsport for also helping out with the power steering issue and the loan of parts. He was up out of bed until 1am on Monday helping us out. Another good bugger! Gavin Bellers from Hi Velocity for his work with the new S54 transplant, he worked through multiple problems and we've ended up with a good package fore the event. sh*t it was a long week, glad its over but man it was fun!

3 useless things to say in a trademe ad: - i get so much attention this car is da bomb - this car cost 1million dollars when new - no timewaster/tyrekickers (lol seriously whats the point? does anyone who read this actually think "oh im a timewaster/tyrekicker so i wont message him")
  15. 1 point
I really dont understand get these comments in trademe ads either .. I drove my modded 330 around back in the day and honestly never got this sort of attention (nor wanted it). I would suspect it will be like one of those fellas who drives around with their sounds turned up real loud in full lynx hair product and spray catalog with the latest downloaded 'EDM' .. everyones staring buddy ... yup its all for you.

How can you not appreciate the amount of work that's gone into this? End result is badass. Waiting to see what tragedy strikes it down next lol

The positivie displacement charger is not only cheaper than a centrifugal unit they're also better, boost through the lower rpm range, more air volume per revolution and a much better noise. The old M112 Jag ones are quite cool setup, but do require a bit of thought to use on another engine. I thought about using one on a 1UZ-FE but have been focusing elsewhere for the meantime. Did this guy do much to strengthen the M62 for a supercharger setup 10 PSI seems like a lot on one of those.

I've tamed a machinist, and he is pretty good with the price of one-off type jobs. But his lead times can be pretty massive. If the guy who originally made em can supply you that's the way to go, otherwise see if you can get the files... +1 to pants bonnet bulge

I know a few running modified M5x engines that have deleted that system and using a catch can setup etc. all doable, depends what sort of $$ you want to spend and what amount of research you want to do

Hmmm, ive owned numerous cars in the "death trap" price range and i haven't died in any of them!

I hope it requires a power bulge in the bonnet Just a gentle/subtle one.

There are $20K cars around in as poor condiiton - at least the parts are cheaper for older ones (generally).

I'll admit I have a thing for towbars- I'm a practical guy and I like my cars to be the same. But what is a towbar doing on this car? They have done a good job of making it shiny, I'll give them that.

Hi guys yes revving to redline probably isn't helping it, but I don't do it at other times. Just now that I have this issue. Yes OEM sensors and coils. I had a chat with a parts guy and he asked me about oil leaks around the rocker gasket, suggesting that a significant enough leak may be causing a vacuum leak? any thoughts while I wait for results from the workshop?

Thats a sweet deal, and a good first car. Be worth a look imo. See above, doubt HellBM would be pushing dodgy death traps out the door. Youre so f**king jaded, get a grip.

Just dropped off the old girl to get the VANOS unit replaced. I picked up a second hand unit a while back from a member here who imported a s50b32 for a race car with relatively low kms. Since it was a race car, he ditched the VANOS. Apparently my VANOS is stuff (according to a few experienced people who have driven it recently), which was not really noticeable to me since I never had much time (or any really) in a s50b32 with working VANOS. I was happy with the power, and power delivery, but I suppose I was just enjoying a 3.2L high comp engine. Will be interesting to see the results (if infact the vanos was pooped) and any torque increases under 4k rpm where the vanos is supposed to help will jsut be a bonus after owning the car since last year!

Did roughly 4000km around the south island with the wife at the end of last summer, 2 weeks driving around. Crappy diesel Holden cruise, but at least gas was cheap! Bought my toy, Discovery Pro FPV Quad, along for the ride, and flew it at pretty much every opportunity Lots of fun, seriously amazing countryside. Bit more of it here

Some more progress. Eisenmann race back boxes installed. No cats = Loud. Facelift xenon headlights installed. DSP adapter for my ipod kit picked up tonight from our forum sponsor gadgets4u. Epic fail on the facelift LED tail lights install/swap with other M5. The metal buckets need more 'fettling' with a BFH in order for the tail light gaskets to seal against the metal. Thankfully not much rain forecasted as I now have 2 M5's with leaking tail lights :-x After spending a good few hours drilling the bigger holes required, and re-shaping the buckets with a dead blow, checking for leaks after assembly (fail) I got fed up and decided to use this : Waited 24 hours for it to cure. Did a leak test, still leaking. Because the other M5 is also a pre fl, the buckets were beaten with a hammer to get the fl tail lights to fit, I installed new gaskets last year and they did not leak. What's worse is having to A. remove cured urethane, and B. doing the whole job on 2 cars to ensure leak free tail lights that sit nicely. I'll get there...
