3 pointsHey guys, Here are my plans for my 1996 e36 328I ,otherwise known as "Black Betty". This year I plan on doing a lot to her. Right now I'm doing all new suspension bushings (powerflex polyurethane bushings) along with some new suspension parts front lower control arms, Tie rod ends, Sway bar end-links, braided brake lines, Diff and Gearbox oil change ,rear sub frame sandblasted and repainted, and some other things I can't think of right now. Not sure in what order but after this I will be doing the following. New gearbox. New clutch. (CC stage 4). Reinforce Rear sub frame and rear trailing arm mounts. All new suspension (Powerflex). Exhaust. New wheels and tires. Window Tints. Redo/Upgrade cooling system. New Shocks & Springs (koni yellows w adjustable damping & eibach proline springs) Some type of big brake upgrade ( e46 330I Front Brakes & e46 328I Rear Brakes) 3.46 LSD built by KBM. New window seals all round. Eibach sway bars. Respray. Interior clean up with fixed-back seats and 6 point harness. Half/Full rollcage maybe? Cams Tune Temp Gauges Oil Cooler XYZ Coilovers Some type of power upgrade. (Not sure what road I wanna head down yet) Hope you guys enjoy reading along and watch myself and some mates build a killer car over the months to come! Dropping the rear subframe, Diff and Suspension arms out of the car! All of the old parts! They were fu*ked and needed to be replaced. Some of the new / refurbished parts! Subframe had been sandblasted and repainted the finished product came out way better than I ever expected!!!!! More pics and to come of putting everything back together

2 pointsTrue, but realising its been 600 km since you visited a gas station will ease the regret a little bit !
-
2 pointsShock mounts front and back. Swaybar rear. That'll probably have it sorted. Nice work so far
-
2 pointsCool cool. Just these ones, which I think you're aware of. Trailing arm pockets Also the mounts for sway bars on the rear like to go if pushed, you can reinforce them like so
-
2 pointsi still think its quite simple. It doesnt matter what its made of, whats in it, or what happens when you shift it "manually", if it can change gears by its self without input from the driver, it should not be classified as a Manual.

2 pointsvery nice, i do like 300ZX too my old man had one, they are roomy inside (I'm 6"4), they are a big car, but boot is very small. VG30DETT is a hell of an engine though. Your E39 is the better all rounder, and cheaper to fix if it goes wrong.

2 pointsStacker Pi update So working through the solution I needed a way to power a hub only when the Raspberry Pi is running to avoid battery drain. The hub means I can add high current USB devices without over loading the Pi. The hub is triggered from a logic relay ( the pibus designer suggested this) The relay gets its trigger power via the GPIo stack on the Pi The relay has one side connected to the cars 12 volt and the other side connected to a 12v to 5v 3amp power supply. The will be enough to provide full power to each of the useb hub ports. Stacker chassis with cut down pc disc drive bay and plastic standoffs for Pi and USB hub Modifying USB hub, added dc power and USB connection directly onto board Mounting hub in stacker Blue ray player , sata cable extension for USB adaptor Sata to USB board holes lined up with usb hub holes nicely

1 pointHi guys Who has experience in the new 1 series coupes? Decided I want to get one by the end of the year. 6 cylinder or a diesel. Budget 25k (would prefer to spend 20k). 1 pointG'day everyone, I am thinking of getting some custom made springs for the E28. Now I know there are plenty of springs available but the ones to really get are Dinan Springs. Unfortunately, Dinan does not sell these anymore. I am enquiring about the Dinan Spring Specs on mye28.com and I have some info on these. The plan is to hopefully use the info provided and get springs made to the same specs. Now, there's a few of us with E28s. Would anyone else be interested in a group buy? I will find out if they can actually make the springs to Dinan Spec and how much would it cost and then update everyone. Also, does any have Dinan springs on their E24/E28? Regards

1 point$3750 ono Had it for 9 months or so and in that time I've done a bunch of stuff. Most recently lowering and replacing front and rear shocks plus front discs and pads (ATE). Sitting on around 350k kms it still runs smoother than many lower kms examples I've driven. Body is tidy but not perfect as is interior - which only has one small crack in the dash! Original and unmolested, a rarity these days. Selling because I've picked up a wagon. The BBS are genuine but require an 8mm spacer at the front (not currently certed). Will take $3,250 on original bottlecaps, which will come with the car if you buy the BBS. Also have a spare cylinder head. Planned to recon and replace but not got round to it and car is running just fine so haven't needed to!!

1 pointyeah when that elephant trunk blocks the water can't get out, and does that. i usually cut the bottom off it so it has a much wider opening and then clean it out. sometime if the rubber seal is busted buy a new one they are only $20-30 or so from memory, haven't got one for a few years. i should check the one in the coupe actually, i know i have modded the one in the cabby already.

1 pointWhen you sit at the lights and hear that 4 pot diesel chatter, you'll regret not buying the Inline 6.

1 pointP&S are the best. Only place I know of in Auckland you can trust to actually do a proper wheel alignment.

1 pointFilthy (black) M4 spotted in NW Havelock North car park this afternoon. Looked like the guy had been rallying!
-
1 pointIt handled really well before didn't floated or wandered cornered amazing as well. That's why we couldn't believe How fu*ked the bushings were. In saying that as Nathan has said I do have upgraded Shocks and springs.
-
1 pointOur E39 bushes looked pretty good, but it wandered and floated - I'd have expected that thing to be hideous! Was it not?
-
1 pointI can testify that the old bushings, guibo, control arms, tie rod ends and lollipops were in terrible shape. I cant believe it handled as well as it did with all these things so munted.

1 pointWhat a monumental shitstorm today. Ripped out the carpet and found it to be very damp on both drivers and passenger footwell areas. Found a rust hole that needs fixing which shouldn't be too hard. The issue we found is water is going through the wiper vents and leaking into the cabin. Out with the dash - all ready to take out but need a second set of hands so that's a job for first thing tomorrow. On another note we will be giving the carpet one heck of a shampoo! Bit of a mission but I suppose it will be worth it in the end.

1 pointWe Reset the rain sensor error in my 540i after the AA guys abused it by jump starting the car months ago. (From both terminals front AND back). It seems the rain sensor did not like it. Also changed a faulty (Chinese ebay) abs sensor back to the factory one. It only lasted one year. Thanks Glenn!!! Good job everything seems to work perfect now. Fingers crossed. 1 pointsh*t mate, you have gone grey very qucikly! Good to see you can fit in the new car now though.
-
1 pointI have relisted this at $21k after getting the diff rebuilt. If I were in the market for a BMW racecar there wouldn't be a better deal out there. The reason for selling is because I have bought this:

1 pointBallsy project, one of those save myself 7k if sucess or cost myself extra 7k if fail I imagine. I feel like I'm in the stone age digging sand and rust out of my E30 and M20 while you dabble in stuff that wouldn't look out of place on a space shuttle.
