2 pointsA few weeks ago I purchased this Cooper S: Im really enjoying ripping round in a small car again. I believe it could have been a demo from new (had the plate M1NIS for the first month or so) Its a pretty good spec, chilli pack, sunroof, xenons and different wheels from the Mini catalogue. Also at some point someone fitted a Remus exhaust and a Pipercross intake: When I picked up the exhaust it looked like this: With a bit of love: And centring:

2 pointsI upgraded my old E39, a run-down 523i that I scored for very cheap, to a 2002 e39 540i msport. So much more car. Absolute joy to drive and own. Very clean. There's a small dent on rear passenger door, and a cracked wing mirror, apart from that, she's mint. Couldn't find a manual version in my price range, so this is the 5 speed tiptronic edition. Favourite new features: The V8 - way way way way faster Remote unlock Memory electronic sports seats Auto headlights The m-technic bumpers look much better than standard spec bumpers The brakes are brutally effective Parking distance control still works, so that's handy for preventing scrapes due to the lowness So, this'll do until I can afford an M5

2 pointsHi All, First post, joined in 2012 with an 03 530 motorsport titansilber but now have just picked up TopasBlau 03 motorsport. Was looking for a v8 but couldn't go past this one at the price. A few new parts are streaming in from the US and Europe. Done the CCV and DISA, a damn good clean, painting wheels, got a waterpump and thermostat to do, the valve cover gasket needs doing and I may do the Vanos O-rings at the same time. Underbody spoiler shields are missing (Geez they're expensive..) and a fair bit of watermarking to deal with. Apart from that - he's perfect.... Look forward to learning a bit of stuff and sharing a bit of knowledge on here... I'm also on bimmerfest. Cheers Stuart.

2 pointsBut the E38 is also comfortable and quiet, something a Jazz will never be. Also, having driven one, fun must be a personal thing, I found it rather bland, where even a 1.6 E36 can be fun in the right hands.

2 pointsThats a terrible comparison. My Fit is slow, its only a small engine, but its also very efficient to run and light enough that its still fun to drive. A 728i gets the same slows without the benefits the Fit has. I know first hand how slow an E36, E46 and E39 3/523i is as i have owned all of them, and its got more torque and similar power to a 320i. A 728i has a good 20hp over an E39 323i, but the curb weight of a 728i is also about 250kg more (1495kg E39 - 1740hp E38) Im bored at work so lets try this too. E39 523i - 114 BHP/TON E38 728i - 111 BHP/TON GE8 Fit - 112 BHP/TON (120HP 1070KG) NC MX5 - 147 BHP/TON

2 pointsOnline jiibber jabber is a no no lol why try to drag someone's sale through the dirt with sly comments instead of calling them if you are genuinely interested. Too many keyboard savvy people these days but not enough genuine buyers! a lot of car for the money and I can vouch for Ray and the Hell Bm team wholeheartedly! Great car for great money!

2 pointsI usually steer clear of these sorts of threads as you're always going to get people on both sides of the argument (it's like the Manual/SMG discussion, you can't win) but I do feel I should weigh in here. I used JC when I owned my E46 318i and again now with my E46 M3. With both cars I felt well taken care of - although you do get made to feel extra special with an M car ;-) I am well aware that I'm paying a premium by going to a dealer for service, however having run the numbers it's not as much of a premium as you might think. I've had excellent service. The service manager has always gone the extra mile for me, and I've had alternatives presented to me when repairs have been needed. Yes I could have probably had things done cheaper elsewhere, but in the 10 odd years I've been going to JC I haven't once wished I opted for the cheaper alternative. That's just my opinion/preference. Not everyone will feel the same way. But for me the overall value has always been there. It does come down to what your approach is, maintaining service history, etc. which is why the perceived value will never be the same for everyone. Just wanted to give my perspective though, as dealers can often have a rough time on the forums :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointI thought this had been a bit quiet. He's been detained for questioning, the police aren't accept his explanation, in their view this story of getting a free car is just an elaborate hoax and he was in fact there to collect the drugs/cash/jewellery. allegedly.

1 pointYou you cut the roof off a car and put it off to the side of the driveway... and the Mrs tries to reverse over it, in the E39....

1 pointStarted with a old wing core I had lying around, was determined not to spend any money on this wing and just to use what was around, got some front sway bar links off a e90 and front bumper to chassis support mounts that are usually welded to the chassis rails, also off e90 for the base of the stands, some alloy sheet I used for my floor that I had left over to build where I'm upto now, had to use some e30 handbrake cables to support the left and right sway of the wing which are also adjustable. Still to do on the wing is getting an Audi 80 rear wing and cut down to size and place between the two stands attached to the boot and have it adjustable as well for a twin wing look. Then go through and clean up all the edges, bead blast and anodise the alloy, sand and paint the cores and make the wing blades for the side. I toyed with all the ideas of using seat rail motors to make it adjustable from the cabin area which would have been fun but lack of time stopped this, might revisit this one day

1 pointwhats your joke? almost identical power to weight to a "GE8 Honda Fit RS", and an E36/E46 320i as well.. and i know which id rather be in all of these are not rocket ships (although the Jazz RS is probably most marketed as such....), but were never designed to be. they keep up with traffic just fine and more than able to pass when required of them.

1 pointI've finally posted up some photos in the Gallery under "hqstu". Car is mobile again after finishing; VANOS, Waterpump, Thermostat, Spark plugs, Valve cover gasket, CCV, DISA, damn good clean as I go... Also fitted new front door seals, badge, more cleaning, wheel painting, wheel liners out to clean, still going on with stuff, be he's running, and running very well.

1 pointFinishing touches made and she's ready to be driven to work tomorrow!! Finished installing the stereo, minus front left speaker not working. Not fussed with that at this stage though. Sunroof trim installed though will be removed to be re upholstered in the coming month as well as the sunroof pilot guide being replaced. Gave her a decent wash and quick interior vacuum. Left low beam still keeps blowing but having a friend look at it on Wednesday night. I'm liking the current height in the rear though the front could come down a touch. Next on the agenda: Check out the tailgate area for signs of rust and fix. Can see some minor surface rust at the moment under the trim. Sunroof trim to be redone. Cambelt/waterpump service etc (probably around Christmas when I have two weeks off). LSD install. But in the interim the queen is out of her garage and her younger sister is now in ready for a spanner check, oil change and new brake pads for the upcoming season. 1 pointWelcome to paying for dealership branding and showrooms. A lot of us just DIY this sort of stuff or get the trusted regulars to do the work. the e46 m3 is an old car, the true first gen trained mechanics have left the dealerships a long time a go. Jerry Clayton is now owned by Sime Darby .. when this happened everyone walked out the door who was a true BMW mechanic. From memory only two of the older guys stayed on but where quite jaded when dealing with them ... they were there to guide the young mix brand mechanics ... this is when things started to slip. I havent gone back in 5 years so things may have changed .. but I would say for the newer cars, not the older vehicles such as the M3. Indy specialist shops are where its at for this sort of work.

1 pointcant have been that bad, airbags arent triggered (or the car was stationary and someone else hit it). Either way im sure Ray would have it up to a decent standard and its a damn good price for what it is. Oh and Graham, no matter the age, convertibles are always the answer.
