And that would be a first for Bimmersport.

Mine's a little less IIRC but not a lot. The electric front seats weigh approximately 600kgs each.

Wow! I admit to liking the interior on the whole. Shameful of me? https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3281389063.htm

I was confused (easily done during lockdown when work is going mental) as to how I'd managed to take the electric seats out of a car and put them back in, I'm no bodybuilder but must have had my Weetbix that day.

Hyperbole Jon, hyperbole. Ease off the literal interpretations, it's the internet after all. Even in real life people don't take me that seriously! 😇

Oh Gosh, this old chestnut. Do you have this in writing that the cert isn't required from NZTA and LVVTA? LVVTA website: https://www.lvvta.org.nz/knowledge_base.html "Does an auto to manual gearbox conversion require certification? Yes, all gearbox conversions require certification as the braking system has usually been affected with alteration or modification to the brake pedal-box." Here's where it can come down to interpretation: Good old NZTA guidelines, as you say, proving it's all OE. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/miscellaneous-items/engine-and-transmission?fbclid=IwAR2-FTQGwnolB46UxVLJzpvmfvM4GcOm8R2muIhXQ_lnAQ-eapQKIpetT44#tab2 However, good old LVVTA interpret OE as OE to the vehicle in question. https://www.facebook.com/LVVTA/posts/does-my-auto-to-manual-conversion-require-cert-even-if-im-using-oem-componentsth/2381117905319025/ It has been discussed a few times, and to take a clear example from the comments: In summary, yes LVVTA say you need a cert for your manual conversion. Will you fail a wof on it? Probably not if you've actually done it well. What will insurance say in event of an incident? Well that will be fun for someone to figure out, because LVVTA say it needs a cert.

So hard to put a price on something that is so widely (no pun intended) modified as this. Looks to be well done, as supported by BM THUG, and Racelab are no back street outfit. Would I pay $120k for it.. I prefer my E30s to be a bit more factory, and for that money I would want a bit more poke than a cooking version 4.4 V8. That said, would someone else pay that money for it… quite possibly.

Not at all shameful, I love that interior. The leather covered dash and door cards is a real nice touch plus a good way to hide / prevent those E30 cracks

Autos aren't selling at much lower prices than that ^ one, whilst it's good to see a different colour I don't think there's anything particularly special about it that would demand the premium asking price,

Haha - cheers man! I'm guessing Saturday? Likely off to PT Chev Beach - otherwise has pretty much been parked up through lockdown although the wife has been driving it to work this week as her Audi needs work...

Unrelated but I saw your car the other day near Motat and I frothed over it What a beautiful e46, Almost crashed the rental moving truck I was in staring at it hahah

I was wondering when it was getting listed and at what price. I’m really curious about the details of the build. It really looks like a stunning car and an amazing build. Everybody has their own preferences so I guess they just need to find someone who has the same taste.

@M3AN Well, I’m neither a kid that’s chasing after skids nor do I have wealth to even show off so clearly I’m having an identity crisis 😂

My personal experience was it was required per my LVVTA certifier (supported by any resource I could find online) So mine is done to the letter of the law - I did need cert for adjustable suspension anyway. Is it a 'real world' issue? probably not - really depends how much faith you have in your insurer - I highly doubt WOF guys or cops would ever know or care. Anyways, looks like a nice car - GLWS!

Can’t criticise a build this spectacular and comprehensive but similar to the crazy 600hp 2JZ E46, I think its going to be really hard to find a buyer for something so unique at this price point. If you want something individual, surely you could build something amazing on the E30 platform for $100k plus? It would have an S54 in it of course 😜

I have a customers Clio V6 in storage, interesting car, how many came to NZ??

Looks well done, sans a few details, (eg tail lights). Why can't widebody kits have a fuel door flush? Not surprised that's the price - pretty cool!

This thing is beautiful! has to be seen to be appreciated. I have had the pleasure myself. I don't think that the price tag is too much for someone who desires to own it. I myself would pay whatever someone is asking if I really wanted it that bad

Nice car, good luck. I'm just really here to say how much I appreciate that firewood stacking in the shed in the background

I've received 2 letters about airbags and one about the heater line over 18 months. This is the third booking I've made for the recall/s, first one was cancelled as they didn't have the airbag in stock. Second one I never got notified that the booking was confirmed, they were supposed to let me know the parts were available and never got back to me. So I left it for 6 months or so. This time I rang and spoke to the parts guy and service guy to confirm they had it in stock and they got me in within a couple weeks of calling. New ownership at the dealer now too since I was last there, they all were pretty good to deal with.

So two quarter million dollar M6's written off in a matter of months? 😲 People shouldn't be able to own cars they're not qualified to drive. Edited: one wasn't NZ new and we apparently can't do strike-through text here, probably another hidden forum rule Clearly not true - Admin.

First thing to look at when buying a used car - does it have shitty chinese tyres... it pretty much invariably comes with shitty half pie maintenance performed by supercheaps finest techs. There will be exceptions to that, but the rule is 99.9% solid.

yep, Olaf. French enthusiasm abounds. Even after 10 years. I also own the HellBM e46 m3 Touring tribute car and a mint '73 Mazda rx2 coupe and can confirm anecdotally that it's the Clio that gets ALL the attention and random people coming to chat about it at the gas station and supermarket carpark.

Interesting. I had the misfortune to have some dealings with LVVTA a few years ago. From this I learned that LVVTA will not accept a product in NZ even though that same product is manufactured by a reputable company, sold worldwide, and accepted without question in (for example) the USA and Australia. It seems that LVVTA in the negative fashion typical of NZ regulatory authorities, is happy to ban brand new product made with the latest materials and CNC techniques, while approving local equivalents cobbled up from 30 year old components salvaged from wrecks. I wonder why a pissant little country like NZ has to set the bar higher than than every one else ? Why do we feel the need to micro manage and regulate every tiny detail by simply saying... "its a safety matter"... as if that eliminates the need for any further justification ? We already have OSH determined to eliminate industrial accidents by levying huge fine on companies to show how much authority they have. It is as if they believe that they can eliminate risk by regulating it out of existence. They are adding crushing costs to virtually every industry... and it is no wonder that manufacturing is going offshore. Soon we will be a nation of shopkeepers selling imported goods plastic souvenirs to tourists, that is if anyone can actually get into the country through the MIQ system. It's all very depressing... I think we are rapidly approaching the point when we will actually need a Ministry for Compulsory Fun !!! Cheers...

Thanks for the feed back- yeah original pics are terrible. as for the conversation cert. It is NOT required as ALL parts are OE. This is confirmed with NZTA and LVVTA. If you have been given a different interpretation- unfortunately it was incorrect. Please check with NZTA.
