3 pointsWhile the "landcrab" may have been widely despised for its unconventional (for the time) features by those who never drove one, it actually handled better than pretty much anything else on NZ roads back in the day. Thanks to its Hydralastic suspension, once it got up to cruising speed (and that did take a while) it stuck to the road, cornered well and handled rough surfaces in a manner similar to the Hydropneumatic suspension on the Citroen CX. Unfortunately, extrapolating the virtues of "a wheel in each corner", "float on fluid" and FWD from the Mini to the 1100, 1300, 1800 and beyond, proved to be less successful as the cars became larger. But they are still a reminder that Britain once was a leader in automotive technology Cheers...

2 pointsGot the heat shields glass bead blasted to give them a freshen up and applied some VHT high temp silver ... they look fairly good now and a lot cheaper than replacements Finish welded the first header tube ... got some distorsion issues to take care of unfortunately 😕 Will have to experiment a bit with the subsequent tubes to try and minimise, else all of the hard work making them accurate for the collectors is out the window. And some clearances to the engine and trans might also be compromised which would be a real ball ache.

2 pointsHuzzah I've completed my scale model of the large colon !! The last tube will unfortunately need a tweak as I had to improvise a little when building it up (only one of the six) and its interfering with a bolt head from the starter motor 😕 It fits if I take the bolt out ... maybe i can weld the starter to the block I managed to crack the secret code of twists and turns needed to get them installed as well which is good news but a little nerve wracking !

1 pointIt's definitely a hard one to list. I searched a good 7 years for a 535i. It was either this or my e30 and I'll choose my e30 over anything.
-
1 pointAgree, on the surface the price seems outlandish BUT, these cars are begin listed for $150k-$250k. I have a hard time believing anyone is buying at this price but more then one party seems to think it's possible. So, 50k for this car 70k for resto and you can still make 20k-50k profit... if you can sell it.

1 pointWow, that must have been a hard one to list. What a machine, hope it brings top dollar for you.

1 pointNice Technoviolet E36 M3 with non-original wing and wheels in Onehunga yesterday

1 pointIf you choose to use Trademe then you're choosing to use their system, Q&A included. This is especially important if you're trying to sell a bucket of rust for top dollar. The seller's arrogance doesn't help their chances of a sale. On a lighter note, how did that even happen? Did they import it already rusting and just didn't clean it properly? It's pretty tough to get a vehicle looking like that in New Zealand, even if you leave it outside.

1 pointSomething I'm enjoying with the M20 is how it 'comes on cam' noticeably compared to the perfectly linear M54.
-
1 pointPossibly, it does have ITBs. Said after driving it back from down south decided that screw turboing it, ITBs are the way There is something to be said about NA, even if slower, bouncing off the rev limiter in my old black top BZ-Touring was hilarious fun... wasnt fast but the noises and way it made power manically at 7500rpm probably made up for it. Need to get tweek the 130s "torque everywhere" engine setup and make it more manic

1 pointStock non M bumper. turns out is all just custom made, some guy really wanted an "alpina" 1er.

1 pointCould try an auction with a $15K reserve? Great time of year to sell a vert and not many about / for sale, smaller engine and auto not a deal breaker for people looking for a stylish summer cruiser. Love the seats! Will likely go Anthracite Uberkaro in mine.

1 pointIt's great seeing an old car being looked after and loved (case in point my old 130i M-Sport that @Jacko owns now - I love reading his update thread).

1 pointSpotted my old e30 touring this morning on the way to work. Warmed my heart to see it out and about and still looking good. 😊
-
1 pointNot really that much of a surprise. Low KM, minty condition, and rare now because people kept saying they were worse than they are and drove the values into the ground for years.

1 pointgosh RS2 Avant. The one with the Porsche 2.2 turbo motor and running gear. Holy Grail for the Audi brand. Think it was the very first RS model. Rare, appreciating, and awesome. Wouldn't swap my BMW for a lot of cars - but maybe one of these.
-
1 pointNot a BMW but the OG fast wagon so thought someone might appreciate it (just looked, performance is extraordinary for a mid-90's 1600kg wagon, 4.8s 0-100 🤯)

1 pointOhhh look something that's not header related !! Got my fictional model badge ready to go on
-
1 pointOh my Lord. That MTech1 deserves my a garage... It almost looks too clean to have been an outside car for very long.

1 pointMTech1 in Heathcote Valley in Christchurch. 220kms, appears to live outside 😕 gorgeous colour and the urge to leave a note to buy is high!
