I'm an FCP fan but FWIW I just ordered 4 rotors ? from Spareto.com on the recommendation of another kind member here and they were US$100 less expensive shipped to NZ than FCP, same brands. Mind you, the shipping cost more than the 4 rotors together... ?

Yeah, it's bizarre mine also rarely goes past 80. It is something to do with efficiency, I read about it fairly recently, apparently the slower you're going the warmer it's meant to get?

Auto: mid 8's if I try hard on the open road on long trips, one multi-km stretch of twisties will easily ruin that out to high 9's. Around town? ? 11's or 12's...

Nice one Matt, did you get a dyno chart with the tune? My fuel economy, for a daily, is already terrible (it uses more fuel than the M3) so I'm not sure I want to push that out any further!
-
Nice one. Make sure you don't get back just labour but any fees for reading the codes. They charge an extortionate amount for a 5 minute job and failed you miserably by not doing it properly (or at all).

Assuming you have Xenons it's not quite plug and play but it's pretty straight forward. To activate the LED's (which aren't on the pre-LCI's) most people tap into the reverse lights because the loom is right there, then they code the reverse lights as daylight running lights so the LED's are on when they should be. Retrofit details here: https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15081

I think you can get pretty reasonable retrofit kits now that have a safe beam pattern and look externally identical to standard projectors. I'm not saying that makes them legit, but some are hard to detect and that wasn't the case some years ago. I didn't know about the VIN check thing, I wonder if they have to lift the bonnet if you can see the VIN through the windscreen?
-
That ^ A bunch of cable ties would probably be enough to get it rolling again.
-
I don't think I've ever had a WoF where they lift the hood but I agree lights and camber plates are an issue. But hey, if I'm reading the sticker correctly the oil in it is only 5 years old!

I hope they give you a free fuse! ? Do let us know how the coffee goes.
-
But a fuse? That's pretty shocking. ?
-
Bimmersport nails it. ?
-
Sure you do, all the eBay sellers that are selling a lifetime subscription for the cost of a legit one month subscription! ? The OP is better off with legit software that's not Carly.
-
Keen to hear how it feels afterwards.
-
If you pay anything more than $0 for pirated software the joke's on you. ?

Not normally, most of these apps don't do low level stuff like that which requires flashing module chips. For that you typically need NCS or a proper BMW rig.
-
@lbo99 - do this, if nothing else it will give you a baseline. @Aaron - nice one bro.

I'm not suggesting you get work done elsewhere, just that you go somewhere that will read and print the codes for you. BMW themselves aren't very good with M cars either. They often have 1 tech who's been certified and then they either leave or forget what they've learnt for older cars. In fact, a BMW dealership is probably the worst place to take an older M car tbh.
-
You need to go elsewhere... a quick Google throws up lot's of independents in Christchurch such as https://www.kevinburtltd.co.nz/ (I have no experience with them, they were just first on the list). Call one of them, explain that your M3 isn't performing as expected and you need a quote to have all of the codes read and a printout to take away with you. Upload that printout here... it's all guesswork otherwise. If the it's not throwing any code, or making any crazy noises then it's going to be a mission I'm afraid. Does @Aaron have an OBDII computer to plug it in to in ChCh? I don't know.

Thanks, yes it's one of those strips of rubber that I'd like to (but don't need to) replace.
-
Irrespective of the market you can always give yourself the best chance of selling. I reckon $80 worth of cleaning products and a day's effort and you'd have that thing looking sharp inside and out, including the engine bay. A clean car is always easier to sell, might be worth the effort? I don't think the price is unreasonable if it were spick and span.
-
Good stuff, how do you get that strip out? I want to replace the gasket on one of mine.
-
Ouch, but at least you got some good photos! Thanks for posting, sorry it ended up that way, hope you're not too bruised (body, ego and enthusiasm)!

$180 new from BMW NZ FWIW, probably cheaper than importing one. If you do find one for less please let me know, I need a new one too.
