Yep, that's a dodgy copy and paste error that I'd want corrected @Secniv, they should accommodate that request without concern I'd think.
-
Wow. That white one for $38k is seeming less and less stupid.
-
As a matter of interest, what width are your rear tyres? Being a facelift it will have 8.5" rears and I'm about to get some sorted, still deciding on tyre size.

Seatbelt chime can be coded out on the E8x, one of the first things I did (after reverse chime).

Yeah, $500 and I don't think they sold. I would have snapped them up if I didn't have something special arriving in the mail soon...

Yes, arguably the best colour combo and nice wheels too!

If the line of thinking is to move it to the cloud then it will be worth considering Invision Community's cloud service. Some work would have to be done around storage but it does support AWS S3 so it might be possible to use that for attachments. I imagine a lot of that 65GB is infrequently accessed. I'm assuming there's rarely >65 'concurrent' (ish) users? Costs could be about NZ$100 per month Invision+AWS I'd think. A lot would depend on how much of that 25GB a day traffic (which is surprisingly high) is attachment based (storage intensive). You don't pay for Invision bandwidth but you would pay for S3 bandwidth. But also, I don't necessarily think that hosting (or ownership) needs to change to make some improvements. Changing ownership or re-homing something can be quite the undertaking.

That will pull back my estimate a little, but not heaps, say $2k. But I think we've already established I'm a rubbish valuer. ?
-
That's a nice looking exhaust tbh. Cheap as but no info on 4 v 6 cylinder?
-
Agreed. They should just remove the contact details once a classified has expired.
-
lol - I thought mine might be worth $25k until a near identical one sold for $37k in less than 24h so my valuations seem wide of the mark! ? However, if you've knocked off most of your wish-list in the link above then I'd say $30k all day and work back from there depending on how much is outstanding. I'm very, very keen to hear what your valuer comes up with!

I agree, it's a factory S54 M car so it has inherent value and 36k for an S54 is good value at first glance. If it holds up to an inspection and you like the style then it's a bargain. The market for them is pretty limited which restrains the value regardless of the production numbers.

Straight ahead, instruments, right mirror, rear view, instruments, left mirror, straight ahead, instruments, right mirror, rear view, instruments, left mirror, straight... Sounds exhausting for a Sunday drive! ?
-
Nice one Brian, Dan put it out there for a sharp price, I'm glad it stayed in the BS "family" (although it feels a little too "tribal" at times!). Do you have any plans for it other that just drive?

Appears so. Maybe somebody that thinks they're worth 80k snapped it up as a bargain?

This isn't about ownership, it's about poor administration, Admin. There's a bunch of us that want to make the site administration better, if you're all for that then perhaps live up to your title and contribute something helpful. If, on the other hand, you're satisfied with the status quo then fly that flag but stay out of the discussion, your puerile comments don't help improve the situation, nor do they enhance the conversation (or your reputation for that matter). Edit: o/t but it's interesting that the emoticon changed in the quote, conflicting unicode?

It might not have changed the timelines but at least it's given us some engagement and visibility which was sorely lacking. ? Even a regular monthly update would be an improvement. I'm not sure if you hosting the site for free so you can "try things out on something production like" is good value though, that actually sounds like a disaster waiting to happen! It seems that a consequence of that "free" arrangement is that the site is a slave to your availability and that doesn't appear to be a reliable operating model, regardless of your best intentions. Your last sentence highlights the benefits of using a hosted solution, we wouldn't be negatively impacted every time things change, and you wouldn't have to keep up with changes which seems difficult because of your other commitments. I suspect there are enough potential sponsors and donors here to make hosting the site "free" for Ollie anyway, and with the benefit of more effective maintenance and production support. If you share the non-functionals with us we can work out the most cost-effective operating model. I think you need to be open to the possibility of either more technical assistance or a different hosting arrangement because there's clearly a bottleneck that needs addressing with the current model. Hopefully your PM discussion with Graham will surface some of those opportunities. As I've said to Graham, yourself in the past, and other interested parties, there are many willing and able to help and many with $ to contribute. But nobody will likely invest in the current admin situation, it's broken.

F10 CIC: Has band expander, how to remove & audiocity
M3AN replied to lord_jagganath's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Fair enough. If you're happy with the $400 and don't want to pull your radio out then just go for it... I'd hope they were willing to remove the band expander for that $400 though. I could be wrong but in the F10 don't you just have to pop the fascia off around the headunit and then there are two screws to undo before you can pull the HU out? I thought you could get a radio recoded for ~$100 but I'm not in the market so could be way wrong there. -
F10 CIC: Has band expander, how to remove & audiocity
M3AN replied to lord_jagganath's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Band expanders tend to be pretty easy to remove, they're normally an interface plugged directly into the back of the head unit. Remove head unit, remove interface, stock plug now goes back into head unit. I've not used Audiocity, how much do they charge for the conversion? -
You don't see many realistically priced ones (or many at all I suppose). It's imported but if you're in the market for one it's certainly worth taking a look at!

Thanks for the update @Jamez, it seems like the call to arms wasn't wasted after all Martin. ? Lot's of people have offered technical assistance in the past James, many of them are still around, you don't need to do it all yourself, let us know what support you want. We've also asked in the past what the site's non-functional requirements are, repository sizes, traffic, concurrent users, load etc because nowadays it's pretty simple to chuck these things in the cloud to look after themselves. Many people have offered to contribute to hosting fees but without the technical profile it's impossible to establish what those fees might be. If you can help with that info it would also be great. Invision has a cloud offering. Do "we" renew the Invision on-prem license regularly? If so you're entitled to access their support which might help with some of the functional idiosyncrasies that have broken over the past months (condensed view for example). These should be easy to knock over with support tickets.

Car Play / Android Auto installed in F15 X5
M3AN replied to hugo_nz's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
My understanding is that they're pretty much the same thing, I stand to be corrected. -
What we need is for the current administrators (i.e. not the proud folk that have "Admin" roles/status here and seem to do nothing at all helpful) to actually engage with the community to discuss this, it shouldn't be a binary us/them thing, I'm pretty sure with an open dialogue we can get this sorted. Is it Ollie? James? Both of them? Get them to actually get online to let us know why they're struggling, we can probably help!!!! Feel free to tell them they're being irresponsible by not engaging and letting things go to sh*t.

I hope the sex is great.
