    Quick rant thread.

I feel like a bit of a broken record but the reminder that NZ is incredibly expensive to work on cars is always such a harsh reminder. The parts drop shipping on Trademe is terrible too.
  2. This irritates me so much. And is why I quite like the Model S Tesla. It just looks like a car. Especially a few years since its release.
  3. It is indeed a thread dig. I've seen the Presley car. Was at the Munich Museum when I was there in 2017.
  4. 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 Did have Roadstones now with Laufenn which are some Korean tyres. Cheap, quiet, and held up well at the track and at 200+ at the sprints. They have pretty good reviews. Going to replace the crap Bridgestone eagle f1s on the 200sx with these Laufenns.
  5. Show yourself out!! That is an E21 good sir.
  6. These look pretty cool. Anyone have one? Be handy for my cars in storage.
  7. Yeah it made me not so afraid of the job. I have built a few engines over the years and for some reason I thought the E60 M50 was a scary job. But seeing it done just confirmed it is no harder than any other bearing job. But if there is crank damage....
  8. Ha yeah I brought a sh*t E34 525td to commute to work in. It's comfy as. Though I have been watching M539 Restorations and I am getting the itch for something a little quicker. Buy the old stuff for sure. But get in there before the prices get silly like with E30's. E.g. E34's. They are better.
  9. I would say it is all of those. Low finance interest rates. Cashed up boomers. Nobody is travelling so spending at home. And lots of hype from Youtubers and media sites. Plenty of nostalgia goggles being warn by all.
  10. Good on them. They sell lots of a amazing vehicles that are reaching the correct audiences. However, a pretty bodgey, very high mileage, common, typically modified with bolt on parts and cheaply sprayed (that overspray) 540i for $40k more than it was worth. This is not on par with their normal high end stock. Yet the car has been made out to be in the same league. If this was a car dealer doing this you would have the pitch forks out.
  11. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-bmw-540i-32/ $63,000usd for a heavily modified 540 that's been resprayed (poorly, check the overspray underneath). It looks nice. But the body has done 300K miles. Just more BAT hype.
  12. Mtech 1 steering wheel from a 93 E34 280mm Missing bottom badge. Comes with BMW center badge. No significant cuts or wear though it has been on a vehicle for 28 years. Shipping will be confirmed at time of purchase. Pickup available in Masterton. Trademe Auction: Starting price is $150 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/interior/listing/3223457145
  13. Really good stuff. It just works. Bit of money for the apps. But they are great. Powerful little tool.
  14. I use my 1 series for farm duties. It's seats fold down. The road leading to my house is bumpier than my gravel driveway at the moment though.
  15. That's actually not that bad. Dump $10K in parts and do it yourself. End up with a hand grenade with the pin pulled haha.
  16. Looks to have run its bearings. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m5/listing/3202805272?bof=5d4EE1K8
  17. Can you not just get the Bimmergeeks gear. It supports FXX, GXX, IXX. Or do you need something special to add the entries?
  18. Nice E30 at the Carterton station pulled up to pick someone up. Plate NVADER. 17" BBS looking wheels. Not seen it before.
  19. Yeah shine a torch down underneath the motor. If you have the LCI cover there is a well under it that slowly fills up. Then it spills over into the next one. Then eventually out and onto the exhaust I guess.
  20. ECS is shipping me a coil pack and a new valvetronic motor gasket for free. With an RMA to ship the old parts back to them. I really didn't expect that as the shipping will be more than the replacements. One way. Great service. Has anyone had trouble with Valvetronic motor gaskets. Mine has a very slow leak. Like 20ml over 2 months. It all gets captured in one of the wells below the valvetronic motor which is nice. Easy to clean up. But I want no leaks!
  21. Can we add cream to that.
