  1. I didn't drive that car. Was the wifes car. The tyres should have lasted longer than they did so it was quite unexpected (deteriorated quickly no doubt from towing a race car). As I said I didn't have time to check the car so took advantage of an offer for a pro to check it over. They failed to actually tell us what was wrong. I think there was a small coolant leak somewhere too. The WOF shop notified us of the bald tyres.

    BMW vs E10

Having had cars tuned to their limit I have found fuel quality to be my biggest enemy. Car was turned on BP 98. BP let me down many times. Very apparent when you fill up on a long trip and the knock levels increase significantly. To the point where I had to turn off the boost controller to run less than have the pressure it was tuned for. Mobil I never had any issues with. However at the time so few Mobil's had 98. Most Gulls had 98 however. I never had any issues with them. I always stuck with them more than the others because they were always one of the last to put prices up. You can now pay at the pump (like America) which I love. No need to wait in a line while some old farmer writes out a bloody cheque. I did get angry at Gull during lockdown last year though. They switched their 98 to 95 and had only the smallest signs up to notify people.
  3. Was thinking about getting a new one. Someone's cat chewed on my one... Well I think/hope it was a cat.
  4. Ah yes I remember now. My one was better being a Tech 1. They were quite often in the same Sparky shop together.
  5. Could this be Mr Oxton's one? Was nearly identical to mine but better.
  6. Similar thing happened to me in Auckland years back. Took the 530d into North Shore BMW for a Winter Check up and they forgot to tell me all the things they had found wrong. Including bald rear tyres. I sent it in there because I didn't have time to check it myself. Anyway we randomly won a $300 voucher for BMW merch right after we complained.

    BMW vs E10

Run Force 10 in all our cars. The 200sx was just tuned on it today. However I don't recommend leaving it in your car for 5 years while you live in another country. Issues occur.
  8. I wonder if it is because the majority of BMW's on the road here are imports? Trying to convince someone out of a poorly maintained import and into an expensive new BMW could be hard work.
  9. Yeah that's my old one. Actually my photos. It has resold a few times since then I think. Last time for closer to $20K maybe a year or two ago.
  10. I'm not sure about that Jon. My Series car which was a 320i Auto 4 door also had the Mtech 1 kit. And a friend had a 4 door 1990 320i with the Mtech2 kit. Was Auto too.

    E34 535IS Manual

Nice one. I look forward to pulling my 535is out of storage towards the end of the year. Have you checked the basics for the misfire? These motors are pretty simple. Start with the ignition system. Check the plugs, leads, coil and cap. Number one source of misfires. Check for cracks in the intake pipes after the Airflow meter. Make sure all vacuum hoses are connected and not cracked or split. Then check the Air Flow meter itself. It's an old trapdoor design. You may need to youtube/google on how to check them over. Be very careful not to change anything in them without instruction. Also don't get sucked into the expensive Iridium spark plugs. Get some standard copper ones. They are dirt cheap and last around 30,000kms. The plugs are so easy to change on a M30. I was buying them in bulk boxes and changing them for every race meet.
  12. I guess their failures keep our great indi's operating.
  13. Better looking IMO. Steel bumpers. Less bulky plastic looking. Better spoiler. Looks far different than the non M models. Does the Tech 2 come with Houndstooth interior? If not then that too.
  14. The best version. To think you could have purchased my one for $10K in 2016? I really wish I still had it. Not because it was a great car. But so i could sell it and buy something much nicer.
  15. This is from one of my local BMW dealers in the US. They completed the recalls on my E46 while I was there. Awesome service. Treated me like a future sale. Unlike NZ where you may as well be spat on if you turn up in your E87. The dealerships are fighting for customers over there though. There were two major dealerships only about an hour from each other. A message from BMW of Silver Spring. 16. What a laugh. Good luck to all the sellers. May you find a cashed up cars and coffee regular.
  17. I might buy one at that money. Still just a fat 135i to me
  18. Hmm. No thanks. Could have saved nearly 50K and purchased @GorGasm's E60 M5.
  19. TBH you would be far better off talking to Pramod about the issues than BMW Wellington. He is far more knowledgeable than any of the techs they have at BMW.
  20. Nice. I wonder if it has had it's engine and box rebuilt? That's a good $10K.
  21. Host it yourself. Do you know much about Dockers? https://github.com/discourse/discourse_docker Dockers
  22. Doesn't discord host your server? It's free unless you want premium features.
  23. It might be more common in the US. But none existent in NZ. But even in the US most first owners are leases. 3 - 4 years max.

    NZ M4/M3 reviews

Better review than those above. Cheers.
