  1. cant beat M52 for bang for buck, reliability, good power upgrade, light weight, easy swap, a million people done it so plenty of data on the internet what works and what doesnt. i can bang a conversion out in a weekend now once you have all the bits. Really comes down to budget, and i defiantley run with the school of thought while the motor (regardless of waht you put in) is out, change all the gaskets, seals, o rings, spark plugs, etc. If not everything then at the very least especially the stuff on the bottom like sump gaskets and rear main seal, timing cover that are hard to get to once the motor is in (again, regardless of the engine you choose. makes it a lot more enjoyable once finished if everything works as it should, doesnt leave a mess on your freinds driveways, etc. $5k will get you a fully certified M52/ZF swap including all the other stuff to think about
  2. i wonder if someone took the bonnet off and didnt put the shims back in at the hinge I also edited my post above just now
  3. they are about $3 for 10m or so on Wish.com hardly an expencive exercise and can take it off easy enough if ya change your mind. SOmeone elses car they can do what they want
  4. My Transit came in at about the same all round $2k+GST at the dealer. Yep can do it for cheaper no matter the brand, but you will be in tehre again in a year or two if you use chinese stuff. OE or OEM or just doesnt work out in the long run.
  5. you should catch up with Tom Delahunty he has a 335i manual wagon he's thinking of parting ways with
  6. ask someone from Pakistan how environmentally friendly lithium mining is, they will show you photos that will appall you.
  7. if they are only $95 new i will start running mine again, i thought they were around the $3-400 mark
  8. These kinds of problems are always hard to diagnose on the internet. i have found M50s not running right or at all is usually crank position sensor either failed or just grubby usually from oil leaking from every orifice on the engine. and if not that next best bet is the air flow meter. There are two pin configurations for them, and other engine sizes don't work. Did you replace the O ring where the ICV tube connects to the manifold, and is that fitting clipped in correctly? they often break off when disturbed, so it isn't sealing right. Also check the intake boot thoroughly for cracks. check oil cap is on nice and snug and dipstick is in the tube correctly. Have you tried scanning the car?
  9. whine could be feedback coming through the speakers from dying alternator perhaps? If it is the Jatco auto in them they are known for clunking at the best of times, but will go another 150,000 no worries.
  10. there is a E34 bushing removal tool in the throw out bin at BNT in Lower Hutt if you need it. i thought about getting it myself but unlikely to own another E34 now, and even if i do the odds of using it are ??
  11. Hi Guys, Looking for a lower Shifter arm for an E30 with G260 gearbox. one end (gearbox end) is longer than the other. I ordered one that new *should* be correct for the car but as it not factory manual not totally sure whats been used in the kit. Photos with measurements, i know the tape looks like it doesnt line up in photos but it does! Otherwise will repair this one but rather not. oh twentyseven 30793 double too Cheers

  13. while those here that know me off bimmersport whille know i hate monopolies, always caused by government intervention, there are actually times when monopolies are for the best. There is a lot more to it that what you say. the admin costs would be infinately higher if there were 3 or four companies all doing it. There is stilla bricks and morter office, and graphic designers dont come cheap. Its very easy to identify the costs we know, but there are doubtless ones we dont. And unlike selling apples or televisions, every sale you make is dimminishing supply, they cant sell the same plate twice. While i do think they charge a lot, they amount of plates on the road (and indeed my driveway) will say that for many people they are worth the price.
  14. technically that is illegal
  15. Cant remember what car it was i think maybe an E46 the one that went for a swim in a mud pool in rotorua that would be the worst I've seen of yours!

  18. Probably have one out the back of garage, all yours if you want to battle the blackberry to get it out
  19. Happy to help, was pretty feral oil! Could have got it off with enough persuasion but hot exhaust and splashing oil would have been enevitable, and not enough time either! M20 are pretty lethargic, they were. 20 years old before they made it into the E30, and that’s 30 years ago now! is it just me or does it have prefaceloft rear guards, just looks it in that pic, maybe it’s just because it’s one the last E30s on monster truck suspension
  20. Everything for sale for the right price! I have a set with NT01 semis on. One of the rear ones wants a date with a wheel repairer at some stage though holds air and I use on my own race car just fine
